Err was reported he told us he wanted to come back mind. Not sure how much big Sam wanted him at the start given he didn't say definitively he wasn't for sale and given we are buying from Jordan not and not big Sam it's a moot point. Not a poor excuse at all, we've got a lot of areas which needing improving and which he wanted to improve and the manager wasn't backed because Ashley would rather gamble. Speculation Indeed backed up with some reporting unlike the pure conjecture I quoted. And to clarify no speculation at all in regards to Rafa wanting at least two players in January.

Should have spent in January it's as simple as that, he told them what he needed they told him to fuck off. We are reaping what we sow as per usual.

Two home games remaining with hopefully Clark and Gayle back. We will scrap it. -

Yeah this is my issue as well. We average 2 goals a game across the season so this drop has been concerning. we get one then go all nervous, it's end of season pressure they are bringing on themselves, we are a big club and i feel the players know we all want this and go into survival mode, its just human instinct at times. Lose top goalscorer and main threat at the same time as losing best defender. Recipe for nerves right there. Hayden returning is my only hope as we shouldn't see much of Colback, hopefully ever again. Reckon he will start tonight sadly, 2 games in 3 days maybe too much for Hayden sadly. Well if he does then you have to start seriously questioning the managers decision making enough is enough. Jesus titty Christ. So you think playing Colback is a smart move do you - I don't think he will but if he does that certainly does deserve to be questioned. I don't think any poster thinks it's smart but if Hayden isn't fit enough we don't have many alternatives. If Rafa would have been backed in January this wouldn't have been an issue. -

Hayden has just come back from a month off and may not be ready to play twice in 3 days. Can't you just trust Rafa's decision making? -

So Rafa and his formation stopped us pissing the league?
-
Hayden has just come back from Injury given what happened with Gayle subbing him was sensible especially with another game on Monday.
-
Costly error is costly.
-
Switched off and cost us the game after being on the pitch for two minutes. Idiot.
-
Hope he's fully fit and doesn't suffer a set back like Gayle has.

They spent an absolute shit-ton this summer on Xhaka, Mustafi & Perez. Their wage bill is very similar to the clubs you mention. Spending the money is really not their problem any more, it's the decision-making both behind the scenes and in the dugout. The number of players they have going out of contract soon is frightening. Something very weird has been going on. One summer doesn't make up for all of the summers where they didn't spend, they had to spend that sort of money last summer as they will have to this summer as this is where the bar has now been set. Out of the 3 signings you mention only Mustafi appears not to be a mistake with the other two being questionable at best. Clearly many things are wrong at Arsenal but I don't think it's all down to Wenger personally. But then again everyone at Arsenal are far too scared to come out and tell the fans hey we are actually perfectly happy with getting in the champions league and actually have no intentions of spending the required funds to compete for the league. Arsenal haven't been the same since David Dein left. Mustafi is the biggest failure out of those three IMO. Got absolutely destroyed by Benteke tonight, although being beside Gabriel doesn't help. Perez hasn't been given much of a chance and I think Xhaka would look good alongside a strong, athletic player. It isn't as simple as spend loads of money, win the league either. I think a lot of clubs in the Premier League have abandoned real scouting to a certain extent in favour of just spending loads of money on well known or international players. Mustafi has been decent for the most part especially when partnered with Koscleny. The highest spending teams generally win like, just a couple of years ago Arsenal were battling us for the best balance sheet award look at us both now, would would of thought?

They do generate a ton of money they just don't spend on a par with the cities Chelsea's and Man utds. Until they do winning the league will be a pipe dream for them.
