  1. Because we can't and that's what the rules have been designed to do. It's why a new stadium is so important.
  2. On a sentimental level I agree, realistically though I don't. In order to bridge the gap but us than those clubs with more revenue we have to grow faster than them. A slow build just leads to us falling further and further behind. It's why champions league is important for us we simply need more revenue streams so we can progress if not stagnating / regression is our future. We felt that injection of investment at the start but now it's wearing off as we've got close to our ffp allowance.
  3. A lot of folks have more objections to the Saudis buying us mind. Not sure what it has to do with his position in the independent regulator and PL's stance. You can be against our takeover on moral grounds and also believe the PL is a racket. In fact I'd say most on here feel that way
  4. Kieran Maguire has always held this position I thought?
  5. Aye, this is the crux of it. I think a few folks posted at the time as well that another player who wants to cut in front the left shouldn't be a priority. No reflect on Barnes on his ability.
  6. I think due to fear of them not being replaced we don't have to be so anxious, unless the direction of travel suddenly changes. We should certainly be enjoying the players we have whilst they are here.
  7. Mbeumo is a really interesting one. On paper it seems great, proven performer who is ready to take the next step. The question I do have is he the player who is going to be affective against low blocks? can he score and create? Also if true, are we willing and able to pay the good old premier league tax?
  8. Fair fair, I see that. Let's see how this plays out as I'm not convinced Bird has a clue.
  9. I'm not so sure. Yes his record is great but how many clubs are these days willing to spend 40m on a player's who's only going to depreciate?
  10. Cool thanks for sharing your insights. How do you feel about thes two proposed players?
  11. I like Barnes a lot, his goal threat is only rivalled by Isak. I do feel it was right player wrong time though. I guess he was the Gordon doesn't work out backup plan. Anyways better not go to deep on something mentioned by Simon Bird.
  12. I find this highly unlikely. Who would pay us we paid for him?
  13. Centrally as well. Aye I think he'd talented too not sure how he fits us mind.
  14. Absolutely aye, not sure how he could Know that however the extent we went to try and get him does indicate it to be true imo. He also said we were amongst many clubs keeping an eye on Eze.
  15. No idea if Sami knows ought mind, and I do think Elanga is decent but I'm not sure hes what we need
  16. Mokhbel was on loaded mags last night and said a couple of things I thought worthy of posting. 1, Mark Guehi was the only CB Eddie wanted, it was him or nobody. 2, we did make a deadline day bid for Elanga.
  17. I'm not holding this delay against them or reading into it given the situation with Darren Eales, it's the prudent thing to put it on hold and let the new CEO device.
  18. Aye waiting for the stadium announcement that will tell me what I need to know.
  19. Thanks for the insight! Yes I think such takes without any form of nuance or detail are pretty unhelpful and don't add much to the conversation. That being said, I'm sure we are all guilty of the odd flippant post myself included I will also add that the club have themselves to blame as well for expectations which maybe considered elevated given past statements mind.
  20. I see, I think I read most posts but I don't really see what you've described to that extent. Plenty of bad takes which is to be expected and events of the last 12 months or so have definitely knocked the wind out our sales though.
  21. And apologies to all for derailing this a bit. In regards to this contract I'm happy but a bit confused. Are we planning to give everyone who performs well for a year a new contract which makes them the highest earner? I was certain the stories of that initial contract being 3 and half years were nonsense but now I'm not sure anymore.
  22. Absolutely if you feel a certain poster talks nothing but drivel or trolls just stick them on ignore and move on. Things can certainly get emotional at times on here with knee jerk reactions aplenty but the thought of being driven off this section because I disagree with someone's views on football is beyond me.
  23. In my experience of this place, those posters don't tend to last long as they generally aren't sincere. Sincere posters generally have nuanced opinions. it is possible to be supportive of someone whilst questioning someone's decision making too, of course Eddie knows more about football than any posters but this forum exists to promote discussion of all things NUFC and despite Eddie's superior knowledge he will still get things wrong.
  24. You can always engage with those you disagree with instead of dismissing points raised as negative shite. I think @HaydnNUFCin particular has written some excellent posts about his concerns. Things don't have to be tribal.
