  1. Fee is super low mind, arse has well and truly fallen out of the market.
  2. Fair enough, maybe I’ve been on the copium anarl? I really don’t want to believe Eddie’s refused alternatives for a player who is massively overpriced.

My point was pretty simple like, the void will be filled if the club opt not to do so themselves. I’m not demanding an official explanation nor do I expect to receive one, I know exactly how this plays out the face saving will begin. I think what we have achieved though is we’ve removed positivity and excitement from our fan base and filled with it with rumour and hearsay and we’ve nobody to blame for that other than ourselves. We’ve had an entire summer to improve a team which everyone knows can be improved; we are not 1972 Brazil and we do have money and for whatever reason we haven’t managed to achieve that simple task. We should also take a step back and re examine the clubs own words and goals, YAR said the goal is to be number one; the fans believe that this window has done absolutely nothing to bring us closer to that goal.
  4. Yeah I watched it and I still feel like he’s stopping short of what hope implied. Eddies main and only target doesn’t suggest to me that Eddie refused other alternatives mind, I read it as this is the guy Eddie brought forward as the one he wanted. the other sentence which starts with “ I get the feeling” can be pretty much ignored imo.

In lieu of official communication the void will always be filled with something mind. Id love to hear an official explanation for the shambles which is occurring but I won’t hold my breathe. If that’s me having a meltdown or losing my head fair enough.

Hate to break it to you but even if the first thing occured the second thing will not. The amount of money needed to actually chase the top 6 is beyond the pale and beyond everyone who isn’t a multi billionaire with 100’s of millions to gamble. for most rational business people it’s better to fall in line with Parish and watch your clubs value grow. Nobody is paying to watch Brighton vs Palace other than the fans of those two clubs.
  8. You don’t think offering 70m for Guehi (which is an absolute mad Manchester United esque offer) is backing him?
  9. Downie didn’t go as far as to say Eddie refused anyone else and only wanted Guehi, big difference between having a number 1 target and refusing any other alternative.
  10. @nufcnick not going to pile on or give you a kick mate, but we don’t know that Eddie is to blame for this, yes Hope has put out a piece suggesting Eddie only wanted Guehi but he’s the only person to have reported it and your or anyone else will not be able to verify that is the case. If the opposite turns out to be true then Eddie has been absolutely shafted.

Which is fine, he’s entitled to do that and if anything it only exposes our own failings. If you’re being quoted daft money for a player you walk away; what you do not do is lowball offer and drag it out without a plan b.

I get what you’re saying don’t get me wrong but Parish is basically the head honcho of the other 14, you know the gravy train riders? All they want to do is exist and increase the value of their equity. It’s why they nod through everything the super league 6 suggest.

I don’t think he is, I think he realises his team actually aren’t particularly good despite the hype and relegation would cost a whole lot more than the 20m MAX they lose next summer.
  14. Given the lack of back up plan I’d be inclined to agree with what SP was told. As it doesn’t appear to have happening we’ve essentially taken a massive risk and lost. We are now heavily reliant on Eddie’ miracle making ability to keep the ship afloat until January where I’ve got no doubts they will try again.
  15. Back soon only to be injured again the cycle will repeat as always. PS he’s probably the poster boy for a difficult decision deferred until he’s worthless.

Oh yeah, I didn’t mention the factors behind the stagnation because it wasn’t relevant to the overall. We simply can’t afford mistakes, last season demonstrated that perfectly, those mistakes have led to the current stagnation and yes, we almost qualified for conference league which would have been better than nothing but it wouldn’t have been enough to material change our financial position either. We have to be pushing for Cl, and that is obviously a massive challenge which has been made all the more difficult by decisions made over the last 12 months at least.

We are absolutely are in a bind and our growth is definitely slow, but these rules for the most part have been in place for awhile they’ve gone into this eyes wide open. Our response has been to be good little pupils and not be confrontational. From a recruitment standpoint we’re shown an absolute steadfast determination to shop in the most expensive market in the world and complain about prices; nufc tax etc. I think we should accept that yes things are difficult but at certain stages we haven’t helped ourselves we haven’t been savvy as an organisation and we are now in a bit of treacle. We stagnated last season and it’s looking like another season of little progress as things stands (very early days admittedly). Im not in a position to dish out blame; I’ve got no idea what has been discussed and agreed but I think it’s quite obvious something isn’t right internally.

Pretty much, I mean obviously we have some funds to add another player of that calibre this window, we’ve just goofed it in the most naive way possible. The rest holds true to me, me and you have both been banging the drum that if we aren’t growing quicker than the sky 6 we are falling behind the January window really demonstrated this, we were basically at a standstill and we couldn’t do anything. I’m still left wondering what the long term strategy is because the actions don’t make the grandiose statements and we shouldn’t blame the fans for being upset with what they’ve told was going to happen. Back to Mitchell, it’s absolutely fascinating what’s taking place, of course we never have the full picture so we are left making assumptions but I do recall reading we approached him before Dougie and he turned us down because he wasn’t certain about his role, if true I wonder what changed his mind and if he has any regrets.

Good points ON. I actual think we don’t know how to navigate our predicament, after all we are the first club to run into this challenge. We want to compete but the rules forbids it from happening. We have to innovate and box clever to progress now and on the surface it doesn’t appear we are well equipped to do so. We’ve basically kicked all of the difficult decisions into the future and it’s starting to catch up with us.
  20. This isn’t accurate, we know when Ashworth was put in his gardens his duties were split between Nickson and Eales, I also fail to see how someone who was put in his gardens months ago explains the absolute shit shoe we are witnessing. We won’t ever find out exactly what has transpired so we are left to speculate. Personally I find it hard to believe the approach we’ve taken to the window wasn’t agreed by all parties. To focus so much time and energy on a sole target with seemingly no back up tells me they were absolutely convinced they’d get Guehi l, this same approach has also led to them looking massively incompetent.
  21. I don’t think this has anything to do with Dirty Dan who is self declared not a transfer guy so I don’t think it’s that. It seems like poor planning, over confidence from the transfer teams side, if we truly have no alternatives at all and the window closes with us signing a nothing player like Trafford it tells me they were absolutely convinced they’d have Guehi done and have been absolutely mugged off by Parish.
  22. I’m fine with that in isolation personally but the narrow focus on right centre back is mad given our situation at right wing. so fair enough, they get the benefit of the doubt, but that doesn’t excuse not strengthening our other glaring weakness. Im kinda at a loss for the level of incompetence on display this window.
  23. Btw lads, make sure you support the club by getting into stacked nice and early on Sunday, btw we will be dropping more adidas merch, don’t forget to pick it up.
  24. We’re about to find out real soon if we work through a list of targets or not
  25. 1, they are going to brief that at this stage. 2, if we are moving down the list I expect us to sign someone in accordance with that in mind and it’s not looking likely. 3, Mitchell is in the same position as Ashworth , he knows Eddie is untouchable and has more input than he probably should but he can’t do much about it at this stage.
