Few of my pet hates: Away goals rule, stats that only include Premier League games and ignore the old Division 1 (same for the Champions League/European Cup), people who care what 'the best league in the world' is, non-traditional football strips (you're not allowed a black away kit just because you think it looks cool), people who call for smaller nations to 'prequalify', the 3rd tier being called League 1,

The league below the Champions League places is usually pretty meh. I know Lewandowski was a big loss, and maybe some of the newer players haven't adapted, but I still find it totally unbelievably they could be anywhere near the bottom. Can't imagine a better team has ever been relegated (not including teams who were sent down as a punishment) ever?

It's all relative Exactly. Cov fans have had to put up with a lot of rubbish, but they'd get annoyed if some Hereford fan told them it could be worse. Every club has a right to expect their club to be the best it can be (even Man Utd fans last season!)
-
Think my favourite Redknapp memory was how outraged the press became when he didn't get the England job. Remember him being compared to Brian Clough ffs!
-
They're gonna stay up, they're going on a cup run, and they've a good chance of doing another double over us. So yes they are...
-
And now they're winning...
-
Worried that Sunderland will make it to Wembley again if they win tonight. Bradford in the next round...
-
I don't really give a monkey's about the 70s, it don't matter if we were in Division 4. In 2015 we have a club that ain't even trying to achieve what it's capable of, that's what disturbs me.
-
There's quite a few older fans with genuinely terrible opinions like this. Sounds like this old **** is winding you up!
-
I've never actually heard a Newcastle fan say they expect a trophy, I'd say we probably put up with more rubbish than the average fan! It's honestly the worst myth in football. I hate this kind of football 'fan' but at least he has no connection to the club and is paid to write about the financial side of things. Our 'spreadsheet fans' are just disgusting, go and support ASDA or something.
-
Not heard of him before so I googled him. Seems like he is obsessed with the financial side of football and cares little for the actual game, so I can see why he'd think that.
-
I was surprised he even bothered getting them out the Championship. Hopefully he'll retire and thick people won't say he should get the England job.

This. We've been awful plenty of times in the past, we've had our fair share of disappointments, but before Ashley you could always at least hope for better next year. What have we got to look forward to next season?

Gaël Bigirimana rejoins Coventry on a permanent basis
ilikenewcastle replied to Fenham Mag's topic in Football
Very sad to see he's essentially playing non-league football for the next few months. Best young kid in the Championship 3 years ago. Too often we let rubbish players off the hook and blame Pardew and the others, but what have they done to the lad?!?! Seemed to have the qualities and attitude to go far. -
Any old cheap manager is going to seem like an upgrade compared to Carver, that's probably why he is staying on for the season...
-
Hate to be negative (I love it really), but the job is Carver's to lose. The best I can see us doing is some random French/German guy (who a load fans will probably think is great despite their greatest achievement being finishing 11th in the Bundesliga)

Love that nowt's happening today. Up yours Sky.

... and yet the people who walk away have effectively given up their voice in the stands which is arguably the most potent route to force change at the club. Hasn't seemed to work with Ashley (not helped by the fact that most fans hurl abuse at anyone who protests). It's not just about that though, I wouldn't feel right handing over any money to the club until we start behaving like a sports team.
-
Maybe I was too harsh. I just get exasperated at people who will acknowledge the club is a mess, but do nowt about it.
-
Me too. It's just impossible to get excited about a club we know for a fact has no intention of doing owt. Still love the club immensely and long for the day we actually become a proper football team. Miss SJP loads, but refuse to fund Ashley's project. My opinion is, anyone who does, condones it. (sorry if that's harsh)
-
My opinion is Santon wasn't good for us. But only we would go into a transfer window short on defenders and come out of it with even fewer defenders...
-
Debuchy and Cabaye gone, Coloccini arguably the last player we'd sell. Definitely a conspiracy.
-
Apart from the occasional wonder goal, Shelvey is awful. He looks like a BNP councillor too.
-
Pearce replaced by Freedman who was absolutely awful at Bolton. Shame they always mess up with their managers, no way Forest should have been out the Premier League for 15 years.
-
I agree it would be silly to get rid now. In the summer though, I think him going would be best for everyone.
