"will run at defences and cause a bit of a nuisance whilst not being the most talented player ever." Obviously their games differ greatly, but the biggest positive of both players is the above.
-
Similar player to Vardy at Leicester imo, will run at defences and cause a bit of a nuisance whilst not being the most talented player ever. Actually agree with the moves made by the club with the contracts - Gutierrez deserves to leave on a high as a hero, Raylor just deserves to leave. Alnwick needs to have an operation over the summer to attach hands onto his arms, Campbell/Streete haven't really ever really had a say but the level of standard they've been playing at on loan suggest they aren't going to make it. No news on Satka? Must be offered a new deal too then.

But we made a list? All the hard work was done in January? We're not starting over are we? We know who we want and we're going to get him Think if Carver hadn't done so badly (inc acting like a psycho in the media) they would have given it to him ie cheap and route of least hassle. But they are in two minds now and probably will find a half decent manager but not someone who is going to come in and rock the flimsy boat. I can't wait to hear, "John Carver has been appointed Newcastle United head coach as they could not get anybody else over the line". The only reason he has not been told he's not got the job is because he is Plan B.
-
He'd be so much better off at a club where he is the main focus point and star player. Two or three bad appearances at Spurs (or the likes of Liverpool) and he'll be benched/rotting in the reserves. Sociedad would have been a good move imo, a new experience.

Advocaat made a very wise decision, leave while he is still thought of highly. He probably gathered that Sunderland will carry on playing between 20th - 15th and realised that he'd gone as far as he could, carrying on would only damage the work he did for the last part of this season. Genuinely hope they end up with Allardyce, can only imagine John O'Shea hoofing the ball up to Defore for 90 minutes

If people on the internet upset me, I think I'd be best suited to rocking in the corner of my bedroom Just felt the first response to my post was ridiculous, making a point for the sake of it - the answer to his question was the line below the highlighted part in bold. Apologies for the Ryder comparison, nobody deserves that.

What's that based on? Do you follow my posts around looking for little snide comments? Re-read my post, and realise that I stated "I GENUINELY BELIEVE"... and then below my statement I gave an example of why somebody would not want the job. not at all no. Fantastic contribution. You make Lee Ryder look like a journalist.

I genuinely believe the reason we might end up with Carver in charge is because nobody wants the job. The fact that the manager is only allowed to do x, y and z and has to report to a man who was nothing but a secretary until recently is not exactly an ideal career move for most. How many of us would quit their job, relocate your family and take on a role where you have less powers, responsibilities, salary and your boss was most recently a volunteer at AgeUK?

The thing that is irritating me the most is hearing the names linked with clubs like West Ham. When did West Ham become a more attractive proposition then us? I mean Jesus, is this how far we have fallen?

NUFC kits & merchandise - third kit images leaked pg.874

Yet we have Sports Direct written everywhere? Seen him, was his stag party, had a full kit on. Ah yeah that was the chap - guessing it was a joke shirt then for his stag do rather than something he wears regularly? -
Agree with that. Tiote needs to leave, then one of the other three should play alongside a decent CM.

I believe I saw somebody with a 14/15 NUFC top, but with "WANKA" in the Wonga box at the West Ham game. Didn't really understand why, as surely it makes it look like he's calling himself a wanker? As he is wearing a shirt that says it. As for the eBay version, can't say I'm a fan but each to their own. The ones without Wonga logo's (in any form) look much better. I wouldn't buy one myself, I usually wear a classic shirt to matches as I prefer them. -
Who's advocating that? I didn't say anybody was? I just said that my preferred choice would not be somebody who otherwise is unknown (ie, the links that have been to us/bookies betting; Garde, Galtier, Tuchel, Gourvennec). And also with regards to other teams doing the same (Leeds this season, Watford (although successfully eventually). Is Garde unknown? and Tuchel just went to Dortmund. I'd say so, how many times do you think Wikipedia was used when Garde was first linked to us? And time will tell on how well Tuchel gets on at Dortmund. Just because you personally hadn't heard of them doesn't make them unknowns. I've heard of all of them, that is not what I was saying. The difference between Koeman, as somebody else had mentioned (a long career in charge of big clubs) compared to Garde for example, 3 years in charge of Lyon. Tuchel managed two very average German teams. If fans moan about taking punts on players like Rivi etc. why is it different regarding managers?

To be fair, with Derby's end of the season at least McClaren can come straight in and continue our tradition of losing nearly every game after 1st January
-
I do think Sky Sports have chosen their best photo of McClaren for his sacked story... http://e1.365dm.com/15/05/16-9/20/derby-steve-mcclaren-sky-bet-championship_3297984.jpg?20150502134603

Unproven in the Premier League as a manager means basically nothing. Pochettino, Koeman, Laudrup all came in seamlessly, as well as bigger names like Pellegrini. Koeman and Laurdrup were not unknown managers though and had successful stints are reasonable clubs. A lot of the managers linked to us have either only managed one team/had little success other than a midtable finish on a tight budget.
-
Yet you'd take Moyes? I would never class Moyes as an "unknown foreign manager" due to 6 months managing a team in Spain.

Will sit on the fence if it is McClaren, but I would be interested to see how it works out. McClaren played quite attacking football with Derby/Twente, didn't he? I'd rather take a punt on getting Moyes over from Spain. Can't say I'm a fan of trying to bring in an unknown foreign manager based on the fact that they played attacking football in leagues of lower standards.

Higher salary and a chance to work in the Prem again. from us?
-
Cannot believe we are either going to hire the man who has achieved 1 point from 10 games (a majority of those games against teams in the bottom half) or a bloke who only two weeks ago told us to fuck off. Incredible. I'd rather have McClaren then Carver, but I'd also take a trained puppy ahead of Carver. Why cant we do things normally? Just for once...

Very well constructed reply. Have I once said that YOU cannot discuss HBA? No. I've made a point that I feel discussing him is pointless because he doesn't play for us. What is wrong with that?
