I was there against Dunston and last night, and they really seem to have turned a corner. They've brought in quite a few new players who seem to be working now, have a bit more pace in the team, and Connor Walker is flying in midfield. The lad they've just signed from Whitley Bay was immense last night too.

Tbf, Given appeared to be permanently welded to his line for crosses into the box, and close range headers were definitely a weakness of his. It didn't stop him being an absolutely fantastic keeper for us mind.

It's been a combination of things for Stan, big players have been missing and their backup keepers have been shipping goals, but generally now their confidence is shot to shit. They've been competing in most games, however they never seem to take their half chances but are giving really sloppy goals away at the other end....today's match was a prime example of that. I'll be amazed if they stop up, and I don't think the club will be too devastated if they go back down in all honesty.

I think the Bruce/Benitez signing argument is moot when you look at how much was spent by both. Benitez pretty much had a zero net spend and his average player price was circa £6M. Bruce spent £100M net and his players average player price was nearly three times that. Obviously it's a lot easier to buy better players when you have more money to spend.

It's so fucking frustrating at the minute. Two stellar perormances against Arsenal & Forest and we looked back to our best. We could have/should have been 2nd in the table tonight but two utterly dreadful performances and it's midtable mediocrity again. Too many players sinply not performing and he clearly needs to change things, but we know he won't. Not really sure what the answer is but I think the owners will have started considering his replacements.
