  1. Chris Wood, Jonathan Walters, Sam Vokes, Ben Mee, James Tarkovski, Charlie Taylor - the list goes on. Exactly. They are an established PL side with a solid squad, we've just come up from the Championship, spent next to nowt in the Summer and suddenly we have better players than them. Some people need to get a grip. Their side is mostly made up of championship and football league signings. More recently they got players with prem experience but nothing to shout about in Bardsley Cork and Walters. Equally they lost two huge players for them in Michael Keane and Andre Gray. They are nothing superior to us, they have just managed to make things click gritty determined and not afraid to play any sides big or small, the fact they are doing well is down to their manager and mental approach to games. Suddenly pretending to ourselves they are a team of world beaters is a bit far fetched, all This established premier league players, fair enough we spent a season out of the league when they had one extra, is it such a gap they opened in that time. f***ing hell at the start of the season if we went for Cork instead of Merino, and Walters, or Bardsley instead of other signings we would have had some moaning. Florian Lejeune Christian Atsu Jacob Murphy Javier Manquillo Mikel Merino Joselu Their big buy was Wood who was championship top scorer. We had a player who was on a similar tally carrying the same sort of goalscoring form up from the championship from the same season (Gayle). Their last season they just managed to survive with 40pts and close to the relegation. I don't beleive us and Burnley are suddenly worlds apart. We just haven't managed to get it right with our new signings. Most of our championship side or if you put out our best championship side from last season would probably perform better. I cant see much in the new signings that made any drastic improvements. Merino is a tidy player but lately this week and last week he has been responsible for two goals shipped. And his form is w*** since he returned from injury. Anyways f*** it I need to get a grip Which of our players would get into the Burnley side?

  3. Excellent at centre half as well, especially for his size. Just a really accomplished player, not particularly fast but his reading of the game was superb. Great leader too, we could do with him in the side at the minute.
  4. I’d say to Debuchy was at least as good as Enrique TBH. Not much to choose. Wow, so ahead of Beresford and Bernard as well then? Nowhere near Enrique, Beresford, Bernard imo. Still think Beye's the best right back I've seen for us as well. Venison for me, quality player.
  5. Sweet. I was kind of hoping they'd win, as it would have be good for Newcastle.....but then I remembered the utter jubilation on RTG when we lost the City of Culture bid to Liverpool. More karma.
  6. Some people (all of us apparently) spat at him when he was England manager and didn't call up Keegan. Or something along those lines. It was one person. Robson had just become England manager and dropped Keegan from his first squad, and some knacker spat at him in the West Stand iirc. The fact that Sunderland legend Niall Quinn was gobbed on as player for them (it's in his autobiography) just gets totally glossed over/ignored.
  7. Literally just burst out laughing.
  8. Fucking lunacy. Love him to bits but he's lost the plot repeatedly playing that knacker.
  9. Pardew was justifying the club's actions, whereas Benitez is quite clearly questioning them.
  10. Aye, this whole takeover has definitely got the whiff of a collapse about it now. My guess is Rafa has been told this and also, he's only got buttons to work with in January......hence the anger. I think he'd probably only see the season out because of the fans. Sincerely hope I'm wrong
  11. Aye, quite incredible......10 years and the penny still hasn't dropped for some it seems.
  12. I totally agree. I think he has talent, but doesn't have the intelligence required to be a top player. When we're in possession, he is basically static and asking for the ball, and doesn't make any forward runs to help the team.....thats probably why he rarely scores for us compared to the likes of Lee & Speed. When we don't have the ball, he is too slow to win it back and easily bypassed, and like you say, he is guilty of not picking up his runner quite often. Asides from his performances/abilities, he's an utter shithouse of a person and was very surprised and disappointed to see him as captain yesterday. Would upgrade at the first opportunity in all honesty.
  13. Agreed, the lack of genuine PL quality in this squad is very concerning, 3 or 4 players tops.
  14. Noticed that too today. Needs to get his act together.
  15. Surely you don't want Misstro to start though? As much as I don't rate him, he's worth a go if nothing else.
  16. Fucking awful, right up there withBilly Rafferty and Ray Clarke as the biggest plank we've played up front. That chance in the 2nd half where he clean through and jumped at the ball with his studs up.....beyond a joke. Like others have said, will lose a lot of respect for the manager if this clown plays on Tuesday.
  17. Get out of our pub, get out of our pub, You fat cockney bastard, get out of our pub.
  18. He's not, but he knows the same bloke who works in the media out there.
  19. Rafa away if there's no takeover, according to Talkshite anyway.
  20. With regards all the press speculation, bear in mind that she has only spoken to The National (as far as I am aware).
