Played very well until Almiron went off last night, hope we at least see that line up again even if not every game. Joelinton did very well. Barring any shocks tonight it's looking like a very strong last 8 this year, hopefully we just get something which is tough but winnable like a home game against one of the less in form big guns.

Yeah I think he's quite solid defensively still
-
Team (or at least that 3) looks exciting on paper and I honestly can't remember the last time I've thought that hope we play well and win
-
What were the odds of Man City, Tottenham, Arsenal and Manchester United all not being in the champions league next season at the start of this season? Not too far fetched atm!
-
We are garbage but not getting absolutely destroyed in most games and we're just about in one shot range of safety. Think a scrappy win and a handful of draws over the next ten will do it.
-
Thrilling victory with Ritchie laying on the goals incoming
-
It's just a case of us probably needing a win and a handful of draws. We're awful but I'd be surprised if we don't manage that somewhere.
-
That is true in fairness!

You cant spin a couple of million into being a lot of money in Premier League football, come on Besides, let's says he's directly contributed to 3-4 points this season. Any team would bite your hand off if you offered them 3-4 points in exchange for a few million at the start of the season. Even more so when it's a team like ours which could stay up by a few points. Financially whatever happens now it hasn't been a disaster by any means.
-
We absolutely shouldn't give him a new contract but I don't really think you can say it's been a clusterfuck or as bad as 40m for Joelinton in isolation considering he has actually contributed for a small cost. The big mistake was not signing someone else as he obviously wouldn't play much.
-
Honestly didn't think he was that bad thought he quietly did well in the first half (lovely touch at one point) and just a bit poor in the second. Admittedly watching on my phone without full attention mind!
-
Well tbf even if he doesn't play another minute he'll have been worth the 30k or whatever a week it is, he did contribute to a few points and that's worth the 1-2 million he'll have cost. Compare that to some fees and it's quite clearly been value for money in isolation. The issue is that it's part of a wider problem at the club of avoiding actually trying to get the best team possible and his presence comes at the expense of a better option.

I'd still absolutely love an FA Cup win (not going to happen obviously) despite Ashley. I'm sure the many Manchester United fans who hate the Glazers still enjoyed the trophy wins. You can just ignore any silly Billy's who would use it as justification for how he runs us.
-
Haven't actually seen them since Arteta came in but you would expect a loss there. Certainly not a complete write off no hoper of a game though.

We basically need Perez back The natural solution with this team would be to play four at the back with Perez behind the striker. The question is do we have someone to play there, or even a little further back as the most advanced of a midfield three, who would make sacrificing the solidity that 5 at the back brings worth it? If we don't then it needs to be a priority because we can't keep on like this against weak/weaker teams.

Thoroughly enjoyed that! Proper cup tie

I don't get how on one hand you can rightly slate Ashley's Newcastle for our dreadful cup record and not taking them seriously and then on the other hand you think we think we should be playing such a weakened team? Play your strongest side by all means, just don't risk your best players if they are still recovering from injury. It's not that hard to fathom. We agree.
-
Eh? I'd think we should be playing a strong side in the cups 20 years ago too. You still have to respect teams from lower leagues they don't just roll over.

Are late goals any less valid or any more lucky than goals scored at any other point in the match? Seen a few people saying this and also when other teams do it but I don't really follow the logic of why
-
It's what life is about. If it makes you happy don't overanalyze it and end up ruining it for yourself, just enjoy it
-
Was a good defensive performance and I actually enjoyed the watch. Really like and wish success for quite a lot, almost all of our players now
-
Their teams looks very strong, hope we can nick something

I would prefer it . Maybe a nice divisive poll should be taken?
