Big fan of this of its true Barcelona reportedly have concerns Antoine Griezmann is not being named in Atletico Madrid's starting line-ups so that Diego Simeone's side can avoid paying out a mammoth £50million fee to sign the Frenchman. Atletico have played two games so far this season and the forward has failed to start either, playing just under 30 minutes in both clashes against Villarreal and Getafe respectively. The reduced game-time has sparked fear among the Camp Nou hierarchy that their league rivals are deliberately trying to get out of paying the £50million they would owe if Griezmann features more regularly. The contractual situation is a complex one, but broken down to its simplest form Atletico would have to pay the aforementioned figure providing Griezmann plays more than 30 minutes of football in 50 per-cent of games this season - hence the reason the France international has been introduced in the 62nd minute of both fixtures so far this term.

They seem really happy that they'll be able to sign a better goal scorer for a fraction of the cost. Fee was way too good to turn down etc. Think it's one of them that's a good deal for everyone involved. We've probably overpaid slightly on the fee on the back of a season he's scored 4 goals in open play but he has a lot of potential to justify that further down the line. He could turn into a monster under Howe. Botman, Bruno and Isak is a great young spine to build the side around in the coming years.

Gallagher would be amazing. Trying to think where that would rank our midfield in comparison to the rest of the league? Can't be many much better other than City?
-
Into paying that price. I don't know just seems odd we wouldn't pay the Maddison or Harrison fees which represent better value. I know their asking price was high but they'd have driven him here themselves of we offered €75m earlier in the window for him. It's a brilliant deal for them.
-
I don't think we'd be paying €75m for him if it wasnt for the Wilson injury. I think anyone who watches La Liga would say he's not worth €75m at the moment. I'm not complaining mind, I've wanted us to just splash some cash on who we rate all summer. Just don't think it fits in with the supposed strategy of being tough negotiators and only buying when we think it's really good value.
-
Buzzing with this. Does feel like we've panicked a bit after the Wilson injury though. To spend months not wanting to pay the going rate for players then to overpay on this is a bit annoying

Maddison, Paqueta then Diaby. Not convinced by Diaby as a 50+m player as much as the other two and they offer more versatility.

Selling Miggy and essentially getting Harrison for £15m would be ridiculously good business

They've priced a lot of their gear at a price they simply can't justify. They have a few technical pieces that are supposed to be quality products and possibly worth it but they apply the same premium cost across all of the stuff they sell. I've seen runners and golfers with similar complaints about those ranges too. Way overpriced in terms of quality in comparison to other similar items on the market. Then you throw in all the problems they have with customer services and distribution. People not actually recieving anything after a month, people receiving wrong items, people not getting refunds. Getting no response when you contact them. Trying to con everyone into thinking their a high end brand but operate like a dodgy eBay seller.

I think he's saying nobody seems sure if it was 2 or 3 bids that got rejected but none of our offers so far have been accepted?

Think the Mitro goal is harsh to critique him too much for. He had a run on him and he'll bully most RBs in the air at the back post. Trent is probably best suited to a 3atb system, he essentially already plays as a wingback but in a back 4. Think Liverpool lose more than they gain if they replace him with a defensive RB.
-
Broja on loan would make sense now surely?
-
Mods need to change SP avatar to Romano if this goes through.
-
Trent offers Liverpool way more going forward than he costs them at the back. I'm surprised they've not really tried Virgil as the right sided CB to try and help him out a bit though.
-
They're missing Jota, Darwin, Keita, Fabinho, Thiago and Matip to be fair.
-
People were still claiming yesterday Romano was just making this up Clearly he's known about all the developments with this along the way.

Seriously the Havertz goal was world class. There seems to be a need to always point the finger and blame someone for every goal you concede, sometimes you have to just hold your hands up and say we got done by a bit of exceptional football. Burn has barely put a foot wrong in 6 months. Bramble you'd be a nervous wreck watching at all times, he used to be cheered by opposition fans when his name was read out on the teamsheet he was that error prone

Was he not taking the piss out of Mitro?

Eddie Howe - Nominated for Manager of the Season
Jaqen replied to InspectorCoarse's topic in Football
We are miles off City in terms of individual talent but we were the better team for a lot of that match and made them really uncomfortable. Of course you need your best players to have a good game to get a result against a side like that. We battered Arsenal fighting for a top 4 spot with the same kind of approach. We shouldn't be scared of 'the elite' and change our style. With that crowd behind us at home and the pressing and aggresion we make it extremely difficult for anyone. -
Hardest game we'll have at SJP this season and we put 3 past them and were the better side for a large portion of it. 5 points from those opening 3 games is a really great start to the season.
