We didn't have the Guehi budget. It's been confirmed multiple times in the press. And there's no guarantee that a selling club would want to accept a deferred sale in the same manner as Hall. You have no idea how close or not we are to being able to afford a 30 million signing. The fact that zero clubs in the PL have made a 30 million plus signing with the exception of Man City should tell you all you need to know.

Well we didn't know how much we could spend a month ago. If we had sold Kelly, Targett or a purple we would have more flexibility. You don't just start lining up targets after a sale - you have to be ready to pull the trigger once you have PSR wriggle room.

The real reason is we enter into a new PSR window on 1 June for the year 25/26 and we lose the 22/23 window entirely where we spent big on Isak, Botman etc.

I assume any sale that is less than 20m for him would actually actively damage us for PSR reasons this season as it would come in at a loss? As he signed a five year deal, it means we can only sell him at 16 million next season, and 12 million the year after. And that's only to break even. He's going to be a millstone around our neck for years.

This. Why are people finding this so hard to understand . We obviously agreed to let him go to Saudi which is probably life changing money. We’ve now gone back on our word on that for obvious reasons. Yes technically the legal position doesn’t reflect that but we’ve decided to give him a small amount of compensation to reflect the fact he’s given up that opportunity and to keep him happy and performing well in an important position where we have an injury prone first choice and a Greek third choice who isn’t trusted by anyone at Nottingham Forest or here and so clearly isn't a viable alternative.
