That ronny article is absolutely terrifying.

5/10 for me. 2 problem positions of defence and striker haven't been taken care of and we're relying on a 60 year old who hasn't played for 6 weeks to score the goals to keep us up. In massive danger of going down in my opinion.

Seems nailed on this. But obviously 3-0 as I stated earlier on in the thread. -

Everton 3-0 Newcastle. -
Everything he said about the board was 100% bang on. Still glad hes not returning though.

If we dont bring anyone else in, we've missed a massive opportunity and remain in massive danger of going down in my opinion. Been crying out for a LB and a proven PL goalscorer and it looks like we're getting neither.

Mental that Remy isnt at the very top of our transfer target list. Far better then those linked and already knows the club.
-
Sunderland have had a bid rejected for Micah Richards apparently. Odd business.
-
Certainty? If he were to leave tomorrow that is. Could of worded it a lot better. Can't see it sorry no club is going to accept an offer less than another one and also one where the whole cash is paid upfront compared to part payments. They could depending on size of the difference in financial profit. It may seem unlikely now but WBA could see Berahino to us and he scores the goals to drag us away from danger and every other team gets results too, meaning WBA could be dragged into a relegation battle. They wouldnt have that fear by selling to Stoke or Spurs.

Think its a certainty that he will end up at Stoke.
-
Probably more about him being made the scapegoat for fans frustrations that led to him wanting to leave. That and the game time obviously.
-
Expect to see him recalled when the Doumbia deal falls through and Berahino joins Spurs.
-
Better option then Gomis but nowhere near what Remy/Berahino would bring for me like.
-
In previous January windows we've gone after / got the likes of Shefki Kuqi and Carlton Cole, it's a huge step up from those days. Gomis would be better than nothing, and certainly better than previous panic buys. That may be true but in previous seasons, in my opinion anyways, we haven't been in such a situation where I question where wins and goals will come from. Take Wiji away and we have a massive issue, of which the 2 players named wont resolve.
-
Says something when our choices at the minute are out of Doumbia and Gomis. Does not bode well for the rest of the season

In talks with Valencia over loaning their left back Orban apparently. I'd prefer Gibbs due to PL experience but its hard to comment as I've never seen Orban play.

Its picking the best out of the worst situation when it comes to alternatives if we cant get Remy. If we dont get Remy then i'll have little faith in us staying up in all fairness. but i mean where would you use him, as backup for mitro or as a pacey forward to play alongside? if it's the latter i can't see how that works with our other signings, if it's the former then perez already has a better pedigree we're veering into "just sign anyone" territory here imo To be honest im intrigued to see what McClaren does with the new players. I think its obvious from Townsends comments that Perez is going to be dropped and AT will be played LW but i'd like to see him played RW with Perez LW and Sissoko moved to a more central position. I know many will bring up that he's not always been convincing at CM but I dont see how he can be any worse then Colback. If we were to play the formation and players in the positions I said, then I could see Gayle as a decent option compared to Gomis, who appears to be higher up on our shopping list, due to Gayles pace and movement off the ball. see my post in the other thread, townsend playing primarily on the right has provided 3 PL assists since 2012 i'd be inclined to try him on the left personally and keep sissoko and wijnaldum where they are as they're far and away our two biggest threats and providers think the best you're going to get out of townsend is using him to stretch the other teams by giving us a pacey option on the left, theoretically opening up play on the right and through the middle a little more To be honest, I think that what you've said is exactly how SM will play things too. Not saying that there's anything wrong with that mind as he's constantly spoken about wanting us to play a counter attacking style of play for weeks and Sissoko/Townsend out wide would definitely offer that. Be interesting to see how things work out in the next 72 hours.
