He contributed massively to the goal that confirmed our PL status for another year. Not his fault we signed him when he was injured. He doesn’t quite look like a lethal forward you’d expect for such a transfer fee though. Rafa has seen enough too so unlikely we’ll be seeing more of him unless Leicester decide to sell him on the cheap? Would snap their hands off if they would let him go for under 18m..

The games against Man Utd and Arsenal were immensely enjoyable, more so than any of our Championship games. If your team is winning regularly it’s going to be fun, but there’s no comparison when you’re up against the elite teams who have single players costing almost all of your first team squad value. There’s a tension to every game in the PL because even the shit teams are still capable of winning. I think bigging up the lower leagues is something you do when you’ve fucked up and ended up there or failed to get out of. It makes the pain a little easier to see the positives. But it’s a total cop out. If Middlesbrough get promoted again, this guy will be singing a different tune, guaranteed.

Is it a good thing that there’s been no takeover talk? Generally when something has actually happened with this club it’s reported after the matter. Speculation has rarely ever been accurate.

Wenger would be ideal for Mike Ashley. Never complains about how much he has to spend. In fact, has had money to spend but chose not to on a few occasions. The only drawback is the whole thing of having some integrity, that would crop up at some point. Not a problem for Pards though.. despite having no managerial skills, he’s Mike Ashley’s soulmate for football. I really do worry about what could happen this summer..

Whoever wrote that piece about signing 3 players, (Golovin, Kenedy and King) would transform the team, well not saying it wouldn’t help but we have holes all over the squad. Manquillo needs to be moved on. Murphy seems to be a dud. Gayle makes no impact on games. Ayoze runs around like a headless chicken and for the most part never picks the right pass. Diame looks knackered. Shelvey only played well when there was a sniff of getting in the England squad, reverted to form now. Kenedy.. no way he’s worth more than 20m but we are so much worse without him. Dubravka... might not be all that after all. So much to do this summer...

The signs were there last week so can’t see how anyone is surprised. It does indeed leave a bad taste but it also highlights that the teams we picked up points against were soft as shite. Watford are very average but have strong players. We’re being bullied all over the pitch. It’s embarrassing.
