What was successful about it? I don't know if you're being serious, but the original Magpie Group campaigned to get rid of small time owner Gordon McKeag and replace him with John Hall. Of course I’m not. It may have been a few years before my time though. It’s totally different now though. Both previous owners were local. Any protests or groups calling for change would have held far more sway. Plus football was far more working class and a tougher place to be back then. Ashley knows he can pretty much do whatever he wants and apart from a few chants or banners calling him a fat cunt, it will never really escalate beyond that. I’m not about to start promoting violence or chaos but at this stage it’s the only likely thing to happen. West Ham are a suitable example. They looked like cunts in the national media, but they’ve been well supported ever since. If Ashley won’t turn up to games, Barnes, Bishop and Charnley should be fair game..

You want the players we currently have to do a sit out protest to try and get the club to spend money on better players who will replace them? ? right.. The letter itself is fine, until I started looking at all the logos.. their own one included. It’s pure tack. At what point did any of them ask the board here for input? This is by far the largest forum for nufc so it’s safe to say that the general opinion here covers a majority of those supporters who participate online. Lobbing a few logos of defunct groups who never achieved a goddamn thing only serves to show how amateur the whole thing is.

I wonder if his wages are an issue. He’s probably on 3 times as much a year than Pardew was. Also, Mike Ashley knows Rafa will call him out for any bullshit that happens, although it’s impossible to predict what he’ll do next, his past form indicates that he much prefers a subservient employee. Despite citing the opposite as a factor for dismissing Hughton.

With a new brain or maybe some of those blue pills from the Bourne Legacy, maybe Bramble could have been the best defender of all time. It was always his decision making and lack of concentration that failed him. No amount of training could reverse that. Mike Williamson did alright in patches. He came in during a time when defenders were not priority with the club. Wish the lad luck whatever he’s doing now.

Take it with a pinch of salt, they’ve gotten someone else in, it didn’t work out great and now the media are reporting that he was probably the fifth choice. Of course they are going to deflect by suggesting they had other options just handed to them. No doubt they approached Rafa but as he turned them down, they aren’t going to just admit that.

I think Pérez will fare better once he returns to Spain. I’m reluctantly in agreement with the above comments. He’s been more infuriating than he has been brilliant. But his average is simply just average and that’s nowhere near good enough for this level. How many other teams would he be an automatic first choice?

Who says he’s doing this? The club allegedly owe him 140+ million, all we know (allegedly) is what’s disclosed in the end of year accounts, we have no idea what happens in real time between NUFC and Mash holdings. He could quite easily be withdrawing club funds as he needs them, everyone but Justin Barnes, Keith Bishop and Lee Charnley of course are left scratching their heads. Both the club and his holding company are privately owned so it’s not held to the same scrutiny as a PLC.

There would be a full on riot if that happened (Pardew or anyone of his ilk)

Just watched the post match interviews. He looks like he’s done with it all. I’ve never seen him look so deflated in the whole time he’s been here.

Slightly offset by Schär, who looked decent tonight. But a big loss going into start of the season. He’s not had the best luck since joining us.

Pre-Season 2018/19: Newcastle United 0 - 1 FC Augsburg (FT)

Total shambles. Darlow came on with 15 minutes to go ? -
Looking forward to seeing him play. I guess this will be instead of Rondon which I’m not too disappointed with. I think Muto will be more of a team player. And more importantly won’t be as docile as Joselu

Lascelles is easily as good a player. I doubt even Ashley would be that stupid. Once he gets into the England squad, people will really begin to take notice. Value will sky rocket. It’s only a matter of time then before he does move. We should prepare for that because no matter who the club would bring in, there would be a massive void left which would suck the club into the abyss. This club is literally always about one or two mistakes away from catastrophe.. I’m sick of it.

Isn’t Rafas daughter in the Uni still? Someone should introduce her to our new CB, give Rafa a reason to stay ?
-
He was never really given the chance to adjust in fairness. But as always 99.9% have to side with Rafa.. (Mitro is the only one where I still think he’s wrong) Good look to the lad. Sometimes it works out, sometimes dogs die..

How many idiots does it take to change a lightbulb?..

Islam Slimani is available for a season long loan. Would happily take the lad back over the dross we're being linked with.
-
Lascelles and Lejeune are a good pairing, so it would take a significantly better CB to dismantle that. We ain’t in the market for that.. We had a very good player who couldn’t be arsed learning a few words of English to help his team communicate with him on the pitch. So he didn’t play and wouldn’t have played this season barring a total emergency. This guy has plenty of experience and is still young enough. He’s also physically suited to this league. Don’t see what the problem is.
-
That’s about what we paid for Sissoko. Many players go under the radar, let’s not assume he’s shit until we’ve seen him play a few times. Not fussed about the small spend if we're actually bringing players in. We fell away mid season last year because we had no adequate cover for injuries, suspensions etc.. Our strongest 11 can compete with most of the clubs in this league, so it’s going to be a matter of seeing how many games we can manage that (playing our strongest 11..)
-
I would tend to agree. If he was still top of his game he wouldn’t be leaving Germany at this stage in his career. But saying that, he’s highly experienced and has been there and done it many times before so could be the difference between them staying up or not.
-
We can only guess for the most part because the club nearly always announce deals out for an undisclosed fee. It could be more than what we think or could be less.. Wonder will they break even with Sels leaving now? 50% loss on Mbemba apparently.

I’d have Yarney in ahead of Clark. He’s a big lad..
