We should be all over a deal for Trossard if he’s interested.

What I really like about Wilson is his intelligence and winning mentality. His qualities are evident even if he doesn’t score. He’s excellent in buying fouls in dangerous areas, or getting them to relieve pressure on the team when we’re out of shape.

The state of the squad isn’t good enough, as demonstrated the other night. We can’t rely on most of those fringe players, they either lack in quality or mentality, or both. Hopefully Yasir can take a hands-on approach this window and sanction changes.

This lad’s record for us must be staggeringly bad, in terms of games won when he’s played.

So that’s just 2 wins in our last 17 third-round FA cup games (excluding replays). Obviously the issue well precedes Howe and PIF, but there’s a fundamental lack of character with Newcastle in this competition. The players on that pitch should be more than capable of winning this match against League One opposition. It’s hugely disappointing and embarrassing yet again for another year.

Can we not offer him to Blackburn plus money for Diaz, surely we can do a deal somewhere to get him out and bring someone in? He can’t play again, he offers nothing in open-play.
