If Bruno is out for the medium-term, the rationale for investing this window is clear. Hopefully Yasir will be as decisive as in previous windows and sanction deals.
-
There’ll be a limit Chelsea can’t exceed, but those long contracts help out with amortisation.
-
Man City are a very boring team when they’re trying to get back into the game. They seem to run out of ideas fast.
-
We won’t sell Lascelles this window.
-
Can’t see Neves happening at all. It’ll be interesting to see where he ends up after Wolves, don’t think he’ll stay in the Premier League.
-
Trossard immediately improves the squad, he’s versatile and we’d get him on a good deal now all parties have burned their bridges. Absolute no-brainer for us, if we’re still interested.
-
We should be all over a deal for Trossard if he’s interested.

What I really like about Wilson is his intelligence and winning mentality. His qualities are evident even if he doesn’t score. He’s excellent in buying fouls in dangerous areas, or getting them to relieve pressure on the team when we’re out of shape.

The state of the squad isn’t good enough, as demonstrated the other night. We can’t rely on most of those fringe players, they either lack in quality or mentality, or both. Hopefully Yasir can take a hands-on approach this window and sanction changes.

This lad’s record for us must be staggeringly bad, in terms of games won when he’s played.

Chris Wood (now playing for Nottingham Forest)

The home crowd will turn on him after his first miss / wayward pass etc when he plays now, and from then it will just get worse. Tonight was likely the collective snap of patience for many in the fanbase. Not saying it’s justified, but that’s just how it usually goes. -

It’s a fools errand given Newcastle’s atrocious recent record in the cup, but personally I place huge significance on FA Cup (as well as League Cup) games. I want to see us win something, no matter what. That’s what makes these losses against lower-league opposition so acute in their disappointment to me. We just can’t seem to get it together. Hopefully we can put it right against Leicester. -
It will obviously come across as entitled given our incredible performance in the league, but I’m absolutely foaming with our displays in the FA Cup under Howe. It’s been two huge embarrassments against League One opposition. I’ve mentioned in another post that our FA Cup struggles obviously predate his time here, but our mentality in my eyes is still just shit in these games. He was let down largely by poor finishing, but I have to be honest that going out two years in a row to this level of opposition is a real sore-point.

He possesses a staggering lack of awareness on the ball. It’s as if his legs are being controlled by that trouser contraption off Wallace and Gromit.

So that’s just 2 wins in our last 17 third-round FA cup games (excluding replays). Obviously the issue well precedes Howe and PIF, but there’s a fundamental lack of character with Newcastle in this competition. The players on that pitch should be more than capable of winning this match against League One opposition. It’s hugely disappointing and embarrassing yet again for another year. -

Can we not offer him to Blackburn plus money for Diaz, surely we can do a deal somewhere to get him out and bring someone in? He can’t play again, he offers nothing in open-play. -

After all that play, you play a cross in that hangs in the air for an eternity like a total cunt. -

Hopefully this doesn’t derail our season, but it’s been really deflating to watch. -
FFP be damned, Darren Eales can pull more sponsorships out of his arse to balance the books, but we need players in this window, we cannot wait until the summer. The fringe players have shown they can’t be counted on, their careers are done here.

Bruno is the only player who can play a ball in the last third. -

Should have stayed on loan with Bristol Rovers, alarmingly poor tonight. -

Anderson isn’t anywhere near ready, and shouldn’t be part of any Premier League squad, never mind ours.
