I think if Ashworth were to put Wilson on the market for the fee that the likes of Ings, Wood etc. have went for recently, we would have interest. Isn’t he out of contract next summer? I think he’ll be sold this summer, based on nothing mind.

I really don’t think the club would envision Wilson playing the role as a third-choice striker. Ashworth would look to sell him and generate funds if that’s the case.

We need more proven winners in the team and I’m not sure that’s going to correspond perfectly with Ashworth’s recruitment model. Only Botman, Isak and Trippier have experience winning finals and trophies.

Honestly, I think he’s the only player in our team who can look back on today and be pretty disappointed with the performance they put in.

Agree, I think he’s also lost that nasty streak to his game. He was fantastic for roughing up defenders when challenging in the air and winning soft fouls to relieve pressure, that edge seems to have largely deserted him this year.

I get the lack of service but that was impacted by his poor movement all game.

Going to be a decent test of his management next month or so, we really need to start picking up wins to cement a European spot.

He was risible today, about as bad as it gets from a centre-forward. His movement was absolutely appalling, especially when Maxi was trying to find an option. What I find most aggravating is how easily dragged into altercations now. He must have wasted almost 5 minutes rising to Martinez’s behaviour. He needs a big second half to his season.

There’s something wrong with Wilson, he’s offering nothing now. Have the injuries took their toll? Really frustrated by how he played today.

We gave it everything but we just don’t have the quality. Also, the ball would just not fall for us in any situation. What we would give for a lucky deflection or a fumble in the opposition box.

The wails of those complaining about negativity are far more tedious than the actual discussions they’re trying to castigate.

Even without Bruno’s suspension and Shelvey’s departure, I felt the club should have been looking at loan options from Europe for CM. We needed greater depth in there.

Terribly sad news, he seemed like a wonderfully kind-hearted person. He had some cracking moments for us and will always be fondly remembered.
