It is to me, that's my point. All opinions.

Both of their grounds were built within the last 20 years, St. James' has been St. James' since 1880. And aye fair enough, I'd probably be the same but with ever so slightly gritted teeth.

That crest is all I've ever known so it is to me I love it, love its nod to the city coat of arms and we've had it when we were class under Keegan and Robson. Only change(s) I'd acquiesce to is changing the lion in the turret to something that looks a bit more like a lion and/or a 'dumbing' down of the colours for want of a better phrase to the colour scheme of the 125 Years version from 2017-18 or to a strictly black and white design. All the other designs we've had or had put forward are shite imo bar the original coat of arms of the city from the 1950s, 60s and 70s and that isn't coming back.

As in it'd be enough for me things like the crest, ground, ground name etc are sacrosanct and are parts of the club's soul I personally don't want to tamper with.

The likes of Arsenal's and Man City's sponsorship revenue comes through shirt sponsors which dwarf that of the stadium naming rights. If we were to get a lucrative shirt sponsorship deal that'd be enough. People go on about renaming the stadium as if its inevitable when no club in the league with the exception of Bournemouth has ever renamed their original, existing ground. A partner a la Wembley and EE as above, yeah fine. Changing the ground's name? Fuck that.

We've done alright at Southampton since we got promoted in 2017, only 1 defeat and that was behind closed doors and under Bruce. In the PL era at selected grounds we've had 1 win at Old Trafford, Cabaye 2014. 2 wins at Man City, 1 was at Maine Road (Shearer 2000-01) and the other was the LC win in 2014 2 wins at Anfield, in the league in 1994 and in the LC in 1995 2 wins at Chelsea, in the LC in 2010 and the Cisse brace in 2012 4 wins at Arsenal, 1994, 1997, 2001 and 2010 which is the only one at the Emirates 10 wins at Spurs which is our joint best away opponent alongside West Ham, and we've also scored more goals v Spurs than any other team in the league Never beat Wimbledon and never beat Southampton at the Dell, but we've won at St Mary's 4 times, one of which is in the FA Cup

Well, nah, because commercial income is not exclusive to stadium naming rights. Man Utd have a ridiculous amount of commercial partners, just from the top of my head they've had Chrevolet, Chivas Regal and what is probably an outrageously lucrative kit supplier deal with adidas. The rest of the big 6 the same, different training wear sponsors, daft things like tyre partners I'd far rather we went down that route first before touching anything to do with the fabric of the club which ultimately to me personally (and probably a few others) is sacrosanct given the way top level football has been going since 1992.

I'm aware, but £20m-£25m a season for it is a no from me. A Joe Willock a season. Fine with new grounds being renamed, but Chelsea, Man Utd, Everton, Liverpool, Spurs (and yet still) have all managed to spend and compete without renaming their grounds which theyve been playing at more or less for their entire existence. Some have just spent the money they've made better than others.

I'm the same. I thought that with Staveley and her husband involved as well as the Ruebens who've been involved in trying to get the club bought and the city respectively that in spite of our riches we'd (try to) preserve the clubs identity; the crest, the ground, the grounds name etc. This is part of it and I definitely don't want to change it for the sake of ~£25m a year. Regarding the 3pm games on TV discussion, I'm selfishly for it as I've never watched non league in my life (though I may go to a Chester Town or South Shields game whilst the WC is up on to get my fix of going to games) but I don't see why 3pms can't be shown via PPV or another subscription to a streaming service. Pay a one off fee and get NBC's coverage on your TV or SuperSport's coverage of a specific game. I'd more than happily do that for all the aways I can't get to.

It won't bring in the money people think, it'll fetch circa half the transfer fee for a decent PL midfielder. Top level football continues to sell away bits of its soul piece by piece and one of the final bits left is that many clubs play at their original grounds with their original names. Keep ours.

Hope he sticks with Schär and Botman as the 2 CBs. As the game's getting closer the more I'm thinking I'd rip your arm off for a point, or just be happy at seeing us not fall to bits and lose after we take the lead (or equalise a la last season) as we have done frequently in recent years. Thankfully Howe won't think like that, but a score draw would be a good result in my eyes. We'll beat them at SJP.

The video title is about one of OUR players btw we've come a long way in a year, fucking hell
-
Take it they're not announcing the TV games today?

Understand that by the end of 96-97 a lot of the main players in the squad were aging and Ginola had asked to leave in March but Dalglish actually did canny with Keegan's team in the second half of that season; only 2 defeats from January to the end of the season but he ripped the team apart anyway. Don't think I'll ever get it.
-
I hope they do as well but after the 29th October.
-
Why not both? Just a bit greedy I guess. But even going back to Ashley we signed Cisse when 7th and it kicked us on to having a chance of finishing in the top 4 on the final day. Being in touch of Europe will certainly would help our chances of signing quality in January.

100% agree with the bold. Helps the club out with attendances/matchday income and rewards fans with points. Dunno how they could police stopping people selling on tickets though.
