  1. It'll be the same team as the last few games but with Almiron being played out of position to replace Fraser who's been played out of position. Howe will be spewing in the stands watching the pure football terrorism that is Jonesball.
  2. Yep. All managers have to start somewhere, and Howe's start is a fantastic achievement with what he did at Bournemouth. As you said Klopp was relegated, Benitez has been relegated and sacked at a lower level, Rodgers has been sacked at Championship Reading. Moyes failed disastrously at Sunderland, Conte was sacked at Serie B Arezzo and had Atalanta in 19th before leaving there. This is Howe's start to management, he's only 43, he's gonna be the 2nd youngest manager in the league behind Arteta. Got a career still ahead of him.
  3. Probably a 5 or 6. Still 6pts to make up, Jones has still done the bulk of preparation for Brighton so we'll probably get beat again. Hopefully though we get the manager bounce and take points from Brentford, Norwich, Burnley and Leicester.
  4. Got the here we go from Fabrizio. Its done. Eddie's mags.
  5. Was screaming for Howe pre takeover, we've still got the same players as before the takeover so overall I'm happy. The dream of a nicer name was always there for a few, including myself, but I'm happy. Solid appointment and I think he's a really good fit for a club like us. Going to Brentford and Burnley now too, howay.
  6. Looks like Jones will be in charge of this. Almiron in for Fraser, no other changes I expect.
  7. Give him an 18 month contract. Keep us up, stabilise us for next season while keeping us out of a relegation battle, playing attacking football, there's a good base for the next guy and Howe's stock is higher than before. Everyone's a winner. Few other good videos.
  8. If it is Howe, be interesting If he can handle the difference in pressure between a club like Bournemouth and us. No way are streaks like that going to be accepted.
  9. They were fairly consistent in terms of points, goal difference and all that stuff until that final season tbf. He blames injuries and moving away from the attacking style they wanted to play because of that, and struggled to get it back. I'd go along with that despite not knowing much else. Howe's an ok appointment, just not the best one we could make.
  10. We just need someone to steady the ship and stabilise us for next season. Fonseca on an 18 month contract would do. Or Howe or Favre.
  11. Howe and Martinez ( ) are so whoever's drawn it up needs looking at, like. Staveley was apprently impressed by his interview a few weeks back. Must be that PIF or whoever are being drawn into the 'need PL experience' thing. Only reason I can think of.
  12. The top bracket of managers won't come here yet. Managers at clubs doing well won't take the risk. Rafa won't ever break contract and he's not getting sacked soon. Fonseca seems to really want the job, Howe would be an okay choice, Favre has had no news about him really and Martinez is a fucking fraud who should be avoided. Get Fonseca imo, would be done really quickly which we need and he really wants to come here and let's face it, we're 6 points from safety after 10 games, have a squad that's desperate for coaching and improvement and have a horrid fixture list in December. No brainer for me.
  13. Fonseca seems desperate for the job, which to me is a good thing. Love the idea of people desperate to be here. I'd get him in. Rafa isn't coming back.
  14. Rafa isn't leaving Everton and Everton aren't going to sack him either imo. So he's a no. Fonseca would take the job if offered, been interviewed, but all of our journalists are saying it's not him. Favre's had no news said about him since the original link afaik. Howe is probably the most likely given this week's stories. Martinez *shudder* I dunno.
  15. Fonseca could well be a PR recovery of sorts. I'd certainly take him. Think my order of preference out of the names linked is Favre Fonseca Howe Martinez
  16. I'm one of the weirdos where the unknown excites me, even in spite of our predicament. Would take Howe and get behind him though, I was screaming for him pre takeover this season and still feel he would improve the side as I did back then.
  17. Athletic saying it won't be Fonseca.
  18. Good watch on Howe, even if you're not a fan.
  19. What's happened to Fonseca and Favre btw? Feels strange to have the remaining 2 choices as Emery and Howe. FWIW, Howe isn't my first choice by any means, I just generally resent the 'look at the outcome, forget the context' narrative that is so ingrained in football analysis in this country across the board and imo that's being applied when looking at Howe. I don't think it'd be a disaster but it's far from the best appointment we could make. I think we can all agree that this manager hunt has been a total shambles. I'm hoping that the owners learn but given they already have previous for leaking stories that ended up going to ratshit, I dunno. We need people in. Now. It going on any longer increases our chances of going down.
  20. Wigan had been in the Premier League for 4 years when he took over. Finished 10th, 17th, 14th and 11th. No idea about spend.
  21. Would've been no different tbh, if Bruce was still here or not. We just need a manager in as soon as humanely fucking possible.
  22. I mean, if its an unprecedented amount compared to previous seasons you can use it as an excuse like. Liverpool were poor by their standards last season due to injuries as they couldn't get a fit centre half on the pitch for the most of the season. It's also worth pointing out that Bournemouth would have stayed up that season if goal line technology hadn't failed at Villa Park v Sheffield United.
  23. They had an unprecedented amount of injuries that final season by their standards, Howe's talked about it on MNF. Bruce has also annihilated a Brendan Rodgers team, a Manuel Pellegrini team. Doesn't make them any of them less good managers.
