Have to say, that was fucking embarrassing today. Given the side we had out, that's up there with Hereford and Stevenage. That it was at a full SJP is even worse. There's no excuses for it, it doesn't matter where we are in the league, what we think of the cup, to lose so timidly to a side who are 4 points off of the relegation zone in League One at home is frankly humiliating. Howe and the players, as much as I like the former and like some of the latter, were tbh disgusting in that second half. And indictment on this squad perhaps but there's just no way of excusing exiting to cup at home to Cambridge United. None whatsoever. Much major work needed to that squad, its untrue.

They won't be giving ambition later on a second's thought tbf. They just need the club to survive but it would be naive of them to think that there's no way Ashley would bid for them without there being some benefit for him and him alone. It’s a small boy clambering up stadium steps for the very first time, gripping his father’s hand, gawping at that hallowed stretch of turf beneath him and, without being able to do a thing about it, being made to watch Martin Brittain playing and Graeme Souness on the touchline.
