I’m not surprised tbh. Being a ‘fan representative’ of whatever description, be it on the Trust, the Supporters Club, or whatever, inevitably ends up in other supporters questioning/abusing you one way or another. We’ve seen it repeatedly with regard to the Trust. OK, maybe some of them have question marks over certain issues, but there’s a definite ’guilty by association’ that gets thrown around, obviously mainly driven by social media. Whilst I have total respect for people like Greg, who are clearly just fans trying to do what they can to help the club, and fans of the club, you couldn’t pay me to get involved in all that.

Which is very much correct thing to say. An absolute load of bollocks, but the correct thing to say nevertheless.

If anyone has listened to yesterday’s Rest is Football podcast, Lineker and Shearer were talking about the game being chosen for TV and it sounds like BBC have first pick, so it’s a straight choice between our game and Arsenal v Liverpool. If they choose that one then we’ll be on ITV. Shearer obviously pushing for them to pick our game, not that he’ll necessarily have that much sway with the decision makers. Not that any of this helps give an indication to which day or ko time we’ll get.

Didn’t really mention it. Although he did say something about looking forward to playing against Sunderland, but could have just meant generally, rather than meaning himself specifically.

Someone get on the phone to Baaaallly.

Aye, we could sign Pickford now and as long as Eddie’s enthused about it, I’d probably come round.

A reminder that De Gea was on £375k p/w at Man Utd….

Bit odd to single out the Liverpool game out of every game in the next 5 months?

Champions League 2023/2024: Group F (Newcastle, Milan, Dortmund, PSG)
SteV replied to Marko NUFC's topic in Football
You can, but equally, it’s the Sky money that allows them/us to financially bully the majority of European teams. -
Apparently Northumbria Police cancelled rest days for the Fri - Mon of that weekend 10 mins after the draw ?

There’s a chance this could derail their season. They’ll now not be arsed about the games between now and then. Everything will be about ‘beating the Mags’ for the next month. Could easily drift to lower mid-table, then get done by us, crowd goes fully against Mowbray, and they’re back into the cycle of another manager in and wanting ‘his’ players.

I think this is often the issue with the atmosphere discussion. I’m in the same seat as last year and tbh haven’t really found a great deal of difference to last year, atmosphere-wise (obviously some games are always better than others). Yet others on here, and elsewhere, will say it’s rubbish in comparison. But if you were someone who was used to getting in and around the Strawberry corner, and you’re now in L7 or somewhere, you can fully understand why that person would think it is rubbish in comparison. So that kind of leads me to coming round to the way of thinking that it’s not necessarily the ballot itself that’s the major issue, it’s more the not being able to control where you sit. Not sure there’s a particularly straightforward way of sorting that out, but if they could come up with something it might help massively.

Thought Fernandes was actually very good for the first 20/25 mins. Looked like the ‘most creative player in the league’. However, as we started to the screw and get on top, he reverted to type in big games away from home, creativity substituted for whinging, and toys going out the pram (he had a point about the one where Schar took him out on the halfway line to stop the break, certain yellow, but regardless, get on with it). For a supposed captain/leader, his body language is an absolute disgrace. For all Maguire’s faults, he’s a million times better captain, so what purpose stripping him of the captaincy in favour of what they have now, I have no idea. Suppose he wasn’t planning on playing him and wanted to shift him on, but there must have been better candidates than this idiot.

I actually thought they were better than they were in the 2-0 game here last season. Although in fairness we had a functioning substitute bench that day. Didn’t feel like there was that nervous lull that often punctuates the ground in a lot of games. Good, consistent noise from start to finish.

They haven’t beaten a top half side away from home for coming up two years.

Aye, I mean probably unlikely it goes down to the outcome of the finals, but certainly not impossible. Be an absolute bastard if we snatched fifth with a last minute winner or something on the last day, then Man City lose the CL final to Bayern meaning we only end up with four places.
