  1. Colombia looking vulnerable. Senegal have had a fantastic tournament thus far, hope they get through.
  2. Aye, so disappointed it didn't work out at Real. Proper old school #10 - give him the ball and he'll do damage. One of my favourite players. Isco would probably be the main reason, he came onto the scene for Madrid around then and is better.
  3. Spain to me look the best team so far despite results not looking that great, their football has been at times exceptional - and they would cause England's defence all kinds of problems. IIRC, finishing top of the group would avoid Spain, for a short while at least. Get the job done, lads.
  4. I think it's working. It's there to assist the ref who can't always get every decision correct, not render them redundant. I can't quite see why people wouldn't want something that means more decisions are made/overturned correctly, allowing for the actual football played to be the primary focus and not a wrong decision as is the case so often. Of course at present VAR is stealing a lot of attention, but once properly embedded I think the result is an improved, purer game; one that cannot be ruined by a refereeing error which is an awful, agonising way to lose a game, particularly for a club like ours which seems to be on the receiving end of poor decisions quite often.
  5. Same like, most anticipated match for me so far I reckon. Hope Argentina Messi does it.
  6. Presenter on beeb4 for the Spain - Morocco game had a nightmare there like, poor lass.
  7. Isco is ridiculous man. He's become one of my favourite players to watch just in the last 3 games.
  8. Would be back up behind Shelvey, expensive back up too. He's a good player but I don't think he's what we need.
  9. Didn't Maradona say something like "Messi, Gutierrez and nine others" Yep "Mascherano, Messi, Jonas, and eight more"
  10. Interesting he said that, I remember Guardiola saying something similar a few years ago. I wonder what these managers think they can learn from other sports which can translate to football. a hell of a lot i'd have thought, the level of analysis in US sports is laughably better than football for a start...the specific bit i read about was how he wanted to know how when basketball is 5 on 5 they manage to make space around the basket in such tight spaces who knows might be bullshit and useless but at least he's thinking Sure Pardew said he used to study Basketball/NBA when he was here in 11-12 just to take the sense of genius down a notch
  11. Harsh on Senegal imo, they have quite a few players who aren't all physically-reliant. Japan have pace too. Two decent sides.
  12. Great to hear Southgate say he didn't particularly like the performance. He knows they have to play much, much better in open play & also at the back if they're to advance to the final stages. Lots of respect for him for being honest and not getting carried away being too self-congratulatory.
  13. Class, want them to win just for this tbh. Also the band in the stands for this game sounds quality.
  14. That's to be expected when there's an severe Jamaal Lascelles/Florian Lejeune absence in this tournament.
  15. Absolutely. Gotta feed Kane more who looks confident as out.
  16. England won't struggle with that too much I suspect
