Rebic is excellent on the ball. Frankfurt will be pleased they signed him before the tournament started.

Plea would be an excellent buy, if not I would be happy with King. Somewhat similar players although Plea has a lot more ability when in possession.

Dortmund just did. Ah damn. Can see him staying there for the long term and becoming captain. Yeah good move for him & Dortmund tbh. Tried and tested in that league.

Don't give up, man
-
Dortmund just did.

Fwiw, I think De Gea performed very poorly in the shoot out. Should be stopping at least one (probably two, even three) of those pens if he's as good as the pundits say he is.

Scored more goals in this World Cup already than shitty Spain did in 2010. Because rank teams like Russia sat back against them for the full tournament. Still won the whole thing as well. They won it through anti-football. Alonso and Busquets in the middle, Xavi and Iniesta wide. Monopolising the ball for 90 minutes, playing at walking pace, no width or directness and grinding out 1-0s. Easily the most boring successful side of my lifetime, just ahead of Greece 2004. Imagine accusing Spain of playing 'anti-football' after just watching them spend 120 minutes trying to break down a team with no interest in actually playing football. Not the first time either. Spain are the very opposite to that imo. It's just what your view of what constitutes good football is. Lots of people find spain very very boring to watch, just like Barcelona. I personally prefer fast direct football (Klopp at Liverpool and Dortmund) compared to what Spain play. It's got nothing to do with 'good football'. That's entirely subjective. When one team puts 10 men behind the ball and kicks the other team's players for 90 minutes, it's very fair to say they haven't turned up to play football but to stop another from playing. Regardless of what you think of Spain's style, they are at least trying to play football in a positive manner. Fair enough if you're happy to see a non-entity team like Russia play in a football tournament than a skilful team like Spain. I'm interested in seeing quality players myself and one of the best if not the best in the tournament - Isco is out. I'm gutted

Man it's going to be heartbreak for you to watch the minnows cruise through the easy side of the tournament when England go out on Tuesday

This a million times. Can't stand seeing a team with no interest in playing come out on top. Spain should have had a plan b like but I can't get behind Russia after that utter shite. If Russia came to play Spain would have demolished them.

Man, De Gea has to be saving one of those pens like. Poor tournament from him so far.

Dat pass

Wow, expected that to be given there like.

There'll be a weak side if Spain get through. They're fucking shite and truly dreadful to watch. Spain shite Has that Portugal match slipped out of memory? They're playing against a side interested in defending and not much else, these types of games often end up uneventful. Put them up against a side more willing to attack and be more adventurous and Spain will look dangerous no doubt about it. 1 good game in 4. They were very poor vs Iran and Morocco as well. Nah they scored one of goals of the tournament against Morocco like. Absolutely sensational football. Yet were 5 mins from losing the game. Which automatically equates to them being 'very poor' does it? Nah man, Morocco were actually brilliant that game and Spain put two absolutely wonderful goals past them and played some great football. 'Very poor' is a ridiculous description of them tbh.

You get the feeling Spain can turn it on whenever they like. Many seem to dislike watching them but I reckon they know exactly what they're doing in terms of playing at their own pace waiting for an opening. Definite favourites for me. I also enjoy these games where one team is quite clearly better and the other has to drop deep and defend. It's enthralling imo.

Spain side for this afternoon's game. Aka. Isco & 10 others
-
Would be surprised to see anything other than Spain & Croatia advancing. The two most impressive teams in the tournament so far imo. Spain playing the best football by a distance and Croatia just look a really solid team back to front.

Isco day
-
Juventus centre midfielder linked with us, West Ham & Leicester. Links were fairly frequent a week or so ago but have dwindled seemingly.
-
Has Townsend been made available or are we just speculating here btw?
-
That Swansea top is so very Football League.
-
Would take Ings to replace Gayle or The Hoss. Would still need a main man in though, Muto for instance.

Messi was canny today I thought, his typical self in terms of being productive in possession. Played some lovely passes.
