Probably need an upgrade on Pau Torres, someone of Fabian Schär's calibre. Torres is decent on the ball but so lacking defensively.

Perfectly put, and the fact he didn't fully realise it makes me love him even more. The greatest.

He's right footed and plays off the left predominantly I thought?

I agree, I just don't believe it should be nurtured only by transfers, although I get that in the midst of a window with high expectations it's going to feel that way for a moment in time. The buzz of signing a player wears off anyway, it's a temporary thing - what truly counts is performances on the pitch which are enhanced by a fully engaged crowd. I think it's in the fan's best interests to try and bring that energy despite the disappointment and remain connected to the players and the coaching staff who have done nothing to deserve anything other than our complete support. I don't think that's mutually exclusive to our transfer window being disappointing for all parties, fans, coaches and players. I am convinced that with a few good performances, hopefully beginning with Spurs on Sunday, the feeling will improve. I don't think it takes much for our supporters to be a force for good. The team will know that and hopefully raise the performance levels. -

Not sure why he would be expected to at this time with the window still open? He's focused his attention on a productive comment highlighting that regardless of transfers the club has a unique strength which is not cultivated by money spent but by a choice. He's also not 'gaslighting' either, he's pointing out that we can't become fractured in disappointment for too long and allow that to carry over into the stands. He's absolutely right, and clearly he senses, rightly, that there's a danger of that happening. -

I think it's the perfect sentiment and if our fans took it on board it would be of huge benefit. We are formidable when united, as seen in 22-23, the moment we forgo that we're infinitely weaker. -

“I understand the fans frustration over the transfer window. We’re all in it together. We need one united cause - and that’s a cause against everyone we’re playing. What we can’t do is tear ourselves apart. We’re a formidable force when we’re united.” Amen Edward. -

Not sure it’s only Joe’s fault like. Nobody is showing for the ball, it’s as if we’re marking ourselves. They’re all just jogging about looking lethargic, really poor this. -
Looking forward to listening to that. I will always hold Rafa in the highest esteem in the realm of football and perhaps beyond too. That he could revitalise my love and connection to the club in the midst of the mire, murkiness and apathy of the Ashley era was such an enormous feat, and one that is directly in proportion with the good and admirable qualities of the man. Even with him managing the team I don't think I ever truly believed we were going to achieve any great success, but despite that what he represented as a manager and his conduct as a man were in and of themselves worthy enough of getting behind entirely.

It's a nice message tbf, get the crowd in the game, connect with them and with one another and feed off the collective energy. As much as I think Arteta & Arsenal in general have become easily dislikable, he has changed the feel of their ground, and however cringey the methods may be, his clear passion is admirable and I'm sure very easy to get behind if you're an Arsenal fan. Whether or not the players found it insightful or inspiring moments before kick off is questionable like, but he's certainly trying to be creative and fresh with his words.

That was a stunning goal, lovely passing to initiate the move.

Not even close. That precise coming together happens literally every weekend unpunished.

I agree, which is perhaps why it appears we tried to get both Kelly & Tosin on free transfers. We perhaps have reason to believe Schar will be mostly present and available for us though, and should that be the case, he's head and shoulders above Guehi and our other central defenders imo. The most underrated player in the league, such is my conviction anyway. When c.£60 million could potentially get us a high class right forward, it's a clear preference for me at this point.
-
Burn, Kelly and soon Botman can fill that role next to Schar. I'd really like Guehi, good player, will get better - but right forward is a more consequential position for us I believe. We had defensive issues last season, but I am convinced that was largely in proportion with Pope's absence, as the previous season our defence was the best in the league. I don't believe Guehi would be the crucial factor in solving those issues, right forward however is our weakest area of the squad by a distance. That £60+ million could get us a big player in that position and potentially elevate our forward line to be amongst the strongest in the league.

That Damian Vidagany comes across really well. Not the usual business-speak bore, seems a passionate and knowledgable lover of the game. He has mannerisms and traits of our beloved Rafa. You lot have plenty to be grateful for, so very well ran with excellent people in place it would appear. I'm just glad we beat Villa regularly otherwise I'd start getting really bitter -
I think Ferran Torres bares similarities with Harvey Barnes, in that he's not the typical modern day explosive winger who will go past defenders, but one whose game is founded on technique, high level awareness, subtlety and composed finishing. Pau of Villa on the other hand is wildly overrated.
-
In terms of the role he's coming in to fulfil, I'd say he didn't look far off where he needs to be. He looked more than £10m in today's market worth to me. He seems the type to not go missing in games which lone forwards can, he was chasing down constantly, occupying good spaces and has a stature and presence about him too. Really positive signs, I reckon Eddie will be pleased with what he saw.

It's likely just a 'business as usual' message in the midst of speculation, which is probably the most sensible way to operate in football given how volatile it is. Not sharing a welcome back photo (such is the custom of club's social media accounts) would have an air of resignation about it, when of course the Guehi transfer could easily fall through for numerous reasons.
