  2. A ban on all traveling fans a step to take because some thugs met another set of thugs and it ended up in tragedy with a police officer suffering a stroke? And the follow-up paragraph makes it even more ludicrous. The sad reality is that in this particular instance a group of far-left nutters met a group of far-right nutters. Always amazes me how with all the technology available to the relevant authorities, all the black lists and databases, these things still happen from time to time. Absolutely bewildering, considering resources involved. And I am not even talking about Russia in particular. Arsenal - Cologne game had a whole bunch of people fired for blatant failure to maintain order written all over it. I actually stopped watching Brazilian and Argentinian football a few years back, passing interest now, purely due to some mental things in the stands and around the stadiums. But still regret not going to Brazil for the World Cup, brilliant country. Now, I am the last person on this forum to say anything nice about that set of pigs (there is no such thing as a "Moscow" fan, it's kinda like calling someone a London or a Manchester fan when one of their clubs are away in Europe), but they do bring a ton away, domestically and abroad. Any club in the world who have that luxury/problem will admit to a certain scum element among such visitors. One of their charmers was actually detained in Munich (was involved in the whole Marseille thing) on Wednesday. Unfortunately, we live in a day and age when being a mentalist is too appealing to some. And the histerical media is always hungry for more. Some dude punches a horse, every NUFC fan does. Some idiots racially abused Batshuayi yesterday, must mean that every Atalanta fan is a racist. Proper hardmen spend a night out in Bilbao looking for trouble with another set of proper hardmen, a tragedy happens, must ban everyone from there. Problem solved. Not. Incidents like this need serious investigation and severe punishments must be handed out to those responsible and yes, dare I say it as someone who saw quite mental things in the stands in my youth - that includes police officers who fail on duty due to lack of professionalism. These things shouldn't happen anywhere in 2018, end of. And the whole WC thing is already tarnished, cos we are evil, hellbent on destroying the universe, challenging The Donald's precious lifestyle and all that. So nothing new. Thoughts and prayers to the family of the officer. Was referring to Spartak Moscow fans as 'Moscow fans' simply because it was convenient to do so. Quite obvious that I'd be referring to the team from Moscow in question. Very much aware that there are many teams in Moscow; CSKA, Lokomotiv, Dynamo, Torpedo, Spartak, FC. Please excuse any that I've missed. Tend to agree with most of what you say. There are idiots in every walk of life, and sadly these sorts of people involved with nearly every football club around. That being said, it would appear there can be steps to take to minimise their effect on the surrounding world. . Would such a sanction on away travel to and from certain clubs not force the clubs themselves, as well as local/regional/national authorities to take a greater look at what is actually causing such a 'problem'. There is of course the situation where the clubs quite frankly couldn't care less, but I'm certain the genuine fan groups would have a problem with such sanctions. Fans of other clubs that have no record of violence within their supporter base would suddenly be annoyed that they cannot travel to see their team against certain teams. I don't believe that all the fans that travelled to Bilbao we're out there for a tear up, but there must be ways to root out the supporters who are travelling and finding trouble easy to come across. That would surely put some pressure on those in power to route out the troublesome factions of the supporter base, and make it a bit clearer they're not welcome. I highly doubt any other club in European competition would welcome such fans to their cities or stadiums.
  3. Something doesn't add up about this all. Wouldn't surprise me if these guys were taking the wrap for it all publicly. All seems quite convenient.
  4. Doubt he'll get a new deal after this, probably get released and he'll become a friesian-gent
  5. Sad news that. Certainly not a great image ahead of the WC. Have friends from near Bilbao, big Athletic fans, so would have been there last night. Can imagine a fair few Moscow fans got a good hiding from their police mind. One saving grace is they got knocked out, so no other European city will have to put up with neanderthal Russian hooligans. Think a ban on travelling fans in European competition from teams representing Russia could be a step to take. Heard Man United and Liverpool fans earlier on in the season talking about their experiences going to watch their teams in Russia - had nothing but positives to say about it. Countering all scare-mongering flying around at the time. Can't deny that there is a hooligan problem in Russia, but watch this get blown up by certain English media. They'll make out going to the WC now seem like you're on for a death wish.
  6. Michael Keane went for £30M - think that's the figure that'll more likely be closest too should any interest actually be real. Obviously as fans we would value Jamal far higher, seeing an increased importance in keeping him in the squad than perhaps the board will.
  7. Oh well, that's that then. Arsehole Fan TV should still be a decent laugh though
  8. Yeah, think he was 30 not so long ago! Keegan era was way before my time, the cup finals of 98 and 99 we're my vague childhood memories. Better memories of the Robson and CL days though. Remember my late stepdad would come and get me out of bed once my Mum had gone to sleep so that we could watch the CL highlights on ITV. Of course wearing my Robert 32 shirt to bed! Always loved Dyer as a kid, but like True Geordie wasn't impressed with what he had to say on the club. Over time think I did gain the impression that he was a bit of a prick without ever justifying to myself why. Somehow my opinion that Bellamy is a knob has somehow been reinforced after watching the interview though. Not enough Lauren Robert in the for my liking either - got a little mention at the end
  9. Khaleem Hyland Err, what have that away then?
  10. Would absolutely luv it if they went out on penalties. Ostenbul! Properly wear out their decent players for the weekend too.
  11. What the fuck happened there! Spent 2mins trying to find the Atlanta game and this has happened
  12. Can't they have Ciaran Clark instead? He'll be cheaper like...
  13. Forgive me for being naive.. How exactly have they amassed so much debt? Like what the hell have they spent it on? Can get my head around how they've spunked away all the money that came in whilst they we're in the PL, but to then think 'oh, we spent all those millions so smartly, we need go and find more' is a bit baffling. What they hell have they been spending their money on?
  14. Answer to Sunderland's problems come next season
  15. Craig Bellamy finished playing then went out and got a job coaching to gain experience. Sol Campbell has finished playing and sat on his arse constantly spouting injustice.
  16. Chris Swailes. Never heard of him. Just googled, looks like the type.
  17. I'm a big fan of Mourinho, and think Man United would be mental to not hold on to him for as long as they can. He can't be blamed for what Pep's doing next door, that's totally out of his control, so comparisons and cries for him to suddenly shift gear in naive attempts to match him are ridiculous. There's some serious talent there at Man United, but it's not Jose's fault Lukaku can't hold up a ball for s*** and consistently wilts in big games. Doubt he'd have instructed Pogba to go wondering off in the midfield against Spurs either. Problem is Manchester United at a corporate and boardroom level want to go one way (Pogba, Adidas, Sanchez), whilst Mourinho would rather go another in terms of how the squad and dressing room is being built. Performance wise there must be an argument that Felliani has done more for Mourinho than Pogba, so why shouldn't he play him. Likewise Ashley Young at left back. When you look at it, it's the unfashionable players he's actually improved since he's been there. Most of the guys only really capable of giving 7/10's are giving them each week, but those that are capable of 10/10 performances aren't delivering at all. So strikes me as the bigger names need to start pulling their weight.
