Of course but with FFP limiting total spend then this type of player becomes much more of a gamble. In days gone by a mega rich team could sign multiple back ups of almost equal stature. I'm wondering if more of a spreading the wealth around the squad approach will be taken by many clubs. That is what Liverpool is basically saying and I believe we are in that situation to some extent as our squad still needs quite a bit of work.
