I don't like the direction this proposed takeover is going. Sudden gush of optimism, followed by conflicting reports, then no news and now I'm expecting the familiar final act of Ashley rejecting any deal.

Sorry Twitter has changed so don't know how to copy tweets without all that random text.

Don't kick arse, lick arse. <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Three good additions to the squad, and while you'd like a forward to come in, it's better than previous windows. <br><br>Not a popular opinion but I think a large part of it is down to Bruce's approach to Ashley. <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/NUFC?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#NUFC</a> <a href="https://t.co/Rg7pzUXvEE">https://t.co/Rg7pzUXvEE</a></p>— Andrew Musgrove (@ADMusgrove) <a href=" 30, 2020</a></blockquote><script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

No shame in it. This FA Cup run has been an epic adventure as it is.

I was waiting since the news broke of this proposed takeover of something like and I'm 100% certain now this will crash and burn like the other takeovers. Ashley is not upset the talks leaked, he is just using that excuse to accuse the buyer of being time wasters for not wilting to his ridiculous demands to absolve himself of any blame. He could also be using it to extract more money from the buyer in the hope he can exploit their desperation. Remember Ashley said last summer that "what difference does an extra £10 million make, if you are a billionaire it shouldn't make much of a difference". Not the exact quote, but it was something along those lines which suggests he will move goalposts in the last minute even if a deal is agreed.

Space Muslims.

Absolutely this, I am convinced the problem is that Ashley actually wants a lot lot more for the club and people trying to buy the club assume he is acting in good faith and that the £350m is accurate. Ashley is hoping once someone is interested they will pay an extra £50m at least and or accept some ludicrous deal to keep giving him some of the marketing or whatever. The buyers get so far with promises that they're nearly at agreement then the price starts going up and up and they realise Ashley was leading them on. During each takeover story we hear Ashley only wants to sell to someone who has lots of money to take the club forward. I think what this means is that he wants Sports Direct to still have some presence at Newcastle and he wants to leech on another owner's success. I imagine this pisses off buyers more than anything.

I have never watched a Bruce team and been impressed by their attacking football in fact I have not noticed any particular identity with a Bruce team. He keeps going about how he wants the team to be more attacking, but he hasn't made much effort to change it. He has been in charge for around 6 months now and that's more than enough time for a manager to have some of their ideas put across to the team. He can't complain about not having the squad to play the football he wants the squad to play because he has had two transfer windows which he has said he is happy with what he has got so he obviously has what he needs.

We have been here before a million times with Ashley and nothing comes from it. Leaks are never good news not because Ashley is upset its out in the open, but because it usually means either the buyer or seller are not happy with a part of the deal. Ashley admitted in his interview with Martin Samuel last summer that he likes to move the goalposts in these type of deals and that's probably were things are at in negotiations. When this latest takeover inevitably collapse, Ashley will blame them for being time wasters or not having a pot to p*ss in and the media will lap it up like they have the last few times.

I doubt he does. I don't think he has said anything about the expanded Club World Cup unlike Klopp.

Is there any need to sign Bowen if Lazaro does well?
-
Apparently Newcastle won't pay the asking price for Bowen because he doesn't have Premier League experience. That argument falls apart when you consider the fact Newcastle like to do the majority of their transfer business abroad. I doubt the club considered Premier League experience to be an issue when they signed Joelinton and Saint Maximin.

Guardiola also said the League Cup should be scrapped. I'm not sure about that because at the very least you get to see academy players shine. I would probably get rid of semi final 2nd legs because I don't think it is necessary. Whatever makes sense for lower clubs they should be consulted about. Maybe take it on a case by case basis. If some clubs feel they want to beat a big club like Liverpool at home or if it makes financial sense to play the match away from home then let each club individually decide what is best for them.
-
Atletico Madrid were knocked out of the Copa del Rey by Cultural Leonesa from the third division of La Liga last Thursday. I like the new format for the Copa del Rey. No more 2nd legs until the semi finals and teams from the lower leagues get home advantage which makes matches more exciting. I think the FA Cup needs similar changes to breath life into the competition.

I think 38 points still gets a team relegated this season.

-
For anyone interested, Sky Ireland has La Liga TV which appears to be showing all la liga matches live for free.
-
Probably because he is injury prone and Guardiola likes to rotate a lot.
-
It probably shows the Bournemouth players are low in confidence.
-
Good comeback from Dortmund, but PSG are going to rip them apart in the Champions League.
-
Favre is not good enough for Dortmund.
-
Lazio are having a fantastic season.
-
I think he did something similar last season. I can't remember the player, it might have been Perez or Schar.
-
They have had very few injuries as well despite the amount of matches they have played so far this season.
-
I know he has been on an awful run of form, but some journalists seem to forget he scored against Spurs and this isn't his first goal for Newcastle.
