Leave the c*nt as is. Simple.

Another step towards mid90 PL's that felt so right. Anything that breaks up the Watford/Palace/Bournemouth/Fulham/Norwich combinations of nothingness

The football powers that be are brilliant. The UEFA Cup and Cup Winners Cup meant a lot more so they rebranded one, got rid of the other but have now basically brought it back and rebranded it and to distinguish them from the Champions League have made them all the exact same format for a distinctly 2nd and 3rd rate flavour. Bravo.

Yeah they have to and has to be heavy punishments including some of the stewards or those who organised them. This is the ground that two suicide bombers tried to get in ffs and people are climbing over fences and breaking in with backpacks.
-
Yeah. This Real Madrid team isn't even in the top 5 Real Madrid teams ever to exist and they're better than City and Liverpool
-
Never rule them out in this cup, just never do it. Some of their escapes over the years.

Amazes me how Quinn hoodwinked Short after Drumaville got spent into oblivion and how the other two convinced this kid - of all the clubs in the world, to get involved in this one, so if anybody would get subsidised yet again having time and again proven how unworthy they are of it it'd be these

Know what you mean. Whatever the opposite of an empire built on quick sand is, this feels like it. Feels like WWF as opposed WCW (only reference I can think of sorry)

Home friendlies. Barcelona and Juventus (first time round) aside, they've all just felt like a pain in the arse for me since 92. Takes the buzz off the first proper home game, your and the players first game back for months.

Pre-season (2026/27): NUFC to play Everton at Murrayfield on 12/08/26

Just that Blyth/Gateshead friendly in 96 really, apart from the Exhihibtion Tournament right at the start of the KK era. (I was most chuffed about seeing Oceano from watching him on the Spanish football on screensport little knowing what Figo and Paulo Sousa would go on to be) Hate home friendlies, didn't even like either of the above really either, maybe the first one as a treat. Except Juventus in 98 and Barcelona 02. Always got the feeling the Ashley regime thought it was something you had to do because we were having them when he arrived and just went along with it, like every other game. -
Its a good tip really since we've never had a summer transfer window either myself or the club have gave a sh1t about since twitter became common. Its the modern version of the dubious headlines on the clubcall page on teletext.

Have wondered what his song of choice was. What's the purpose of this one and its reference to us? As a chant that started life as 'who let the monkey out' aimed at Peter Reid. This just typical Brucey witlessness and own-goaledness? Also what kind of nice guy stews on a revenge song for months and oraganise the playing of it? seems like more the sort of thing a c*nt would do. Dont think Eddie coul care less about the songs Southampton played at half-time.

Trust he didn't point out how much more money he had than Rafa only to not do any better and leave us back in the mess Rafa inherited and cleaned up.

As long as the players we want aren't transferring I'm okay. Took us a while to show our hand in 95, despite the Cole (+Mathie/Drysdale) money burning a hole in our pocket since March but it wasn't until Ferdinand was in talks with Villa that I got nervous. Carlos I felt was a one time only offer in January to get us out of the relegation zone, not someone we'd be interested in at the start of a season. Would probably have more doubts if we had signed him. Don't mind Gerrard at all fwiw.

Posted this before but we sold something like £7million of shirts in half a year in 1993. The record transfer in the UK at that time was 3.6m. £7m from the Bonds when the UK record transfer was £5m. A net transfer spend in 95 of about 1m that we were running away with the league on. If anything, and your'e right, FFP would have benefitted us over clubs that spent more than us without the same resources. Its more why the KK era happened the something that would have prevented it.

"come on - are we really going to analyse a warm-up?" - spoken like a true modern day highly paid professional manager that. warm-ups, training when 6 players are away and analysing games, tactics - sod all that modern rubbish for a game of soliders eh Steve

Switched to radio Newcastle in 92/93 having taken Metro until then and Mick is the voice of that special season. Thought he was really down with us but remember him being snarky about the boos Owen got when he came back and he really got my back up. Nobody deserved booed more than him and everything we've learned since backs that up.
-
Thought that was a spoof, but f**k me. For starters I didn't watch it, never have watched a 3rd division play-off, and don't consider them rivals and the rest, ah there's no point trying to reason with people that fucking nuts.

Heard Wrexham were at Wembley today.

That's the attitude I'd like us to take. When the clubs doing well and team winning I don't feel right slagging off players (Kitson, Barton, Wood) not saying that's right because to go to the next level you have to be like that and turning a blind eye to weak points is a weak point itself. Too buzzing to be hating.

Not the vibe I got from NUFC fans, most that are bothered one way or the other seem to prefer Burnley to go once Everton were safe. Nothing really against Burnley either. *if we still had Ashley I'd have maybe preferred Leeds to go for self-preservation and needing 3 worse teams, Burnley always had a chance of being one of those.

Just wish we could have more title contenders nd relegation battle contenders playing at the same time more often, could have this most weeks from March.

...and only getting draws against Brentford and Man United was a travesty of justice on balance of play
