  1. Never got emotionally attached because like Staveley has rightly always said, they were custodians of our club and I think if Ashley taught me anything it's to keep owners at arms length and reserve the love for the football side of things. Professionally though, they've done a fantastic job and despite there being huge reservations over our owners, just their part in removing that parasite from our club is on its own enough to put them alongside nearly anyone in our history in terms of importance.
  2. Molehills they can manifest into mountains are their mardi gras now, they have absolutely nothing left.

This is exactly it imo. I keep blethering on about us being England expects England and not Underdog England anymore, but I think it's really true. Our relative success under Southgate has been so undermined and taken for granted post-2018 that to many it's seen as an underachievement in itself. This tournament is the first time where I think it's absolutely true that we have a really talented group of players and absolutely true that (until the last two matches) the football that's been served up has been below the level it should be.

This insistence that we've never beaten anyone good is another one that, along with the insistence that this is the best generation of individual talent ever, seems to ignore our history at such a basic level. So we: Beat Colombia in 2018 - Won their group, quarter finalists 4 years earlier, doesn't matter it's only Colombia Beat Germany - 2nd most successful international team of all time, often win and reach finals while playing not particularly well (such as in '82, '02, 08), a team filled with Champions League winners - doesn't matter it's the worst Germany team of all time Beat Senegal 3-0 - AFCON winners, doesn't matter, it's only Senegal Denmark - Completely galvanised by Eriksen's heart failure they gave World Champions France a game, thrashed Russia and Wales, then beat the Netherlands 2-0 - doesn't matter, it's only Denmark. Netherlands - drew with France, had a couple of barnstormers against Austria and Turkey, previous winners and perenial finalists and semi-finalists - doesn't matter, they're 'hardly one of the world's elite teams' apparently. Meanwhile, before Southgate took over: Half the team he got to a World Cup semi final had started (and lost remember) against Iceland Our previous 2 tournament outcomes were: getting knocked out by Iceland and finishing bottom of our group in World Cup 2014 Then more widely, we hadn't reached a semi in 22 years or a final in 55 years Regularly lost, drew or made an absolute chore out of winning against poor teams Had a poor penalty shootout record and here (thanks to ChatGPT) are the teams we've won, lost and drawn against since last winning a tournament.
  5. I've moaned about adidas's kits this season but I absolutely love the colours on Colombia's kit. They always have good kits but this one's especially bright and garish, love it. Up with this sort of thing.
  6. There are so many fouls-elsewhere-but- never-in-the-box situations that we accept. I think I agree that that's one of them, but I don't think that because of that it's a pen or ever should be.
  7. Credit to Southgate, who I generally give credit to anyway, but Watkins comes on and I'm thinking 'what happens when it gets to pens? Take him off for Toney?' then Watkins goes and scores an all-timer
  8. Where next for content? Feel like BBC would still be on
  9. ITV dropping Little Thoughts by Bloc Party ❤️
  10. I feel like we've been very German. Absolutely shit, did what needed to be done and got there, got progressively better. Don't think we'll win it, but I didn't think we'd win this like that either
  11. Guehi, there was a lot of heat around us wanting him IIRC.
