Something we should remember about Newcastle as well. Reading loads of stuff about how we overachieved last season, or that our tactics have been found out etc. All again just ignoring the massive injured elephant in the room
-
If Man City and Chelsea end up getting away with it, you can understand why tbf.

FA Cup Third Round: sunderland (A) 06/01/24 @ 12:45 - Live on ITV

Every accusation is a confession as far as I can see. Proper cry arsing over a nothing post from days ago and coming out with extra shite about how to support the team that has nothing remotely to do with what I said. No idea who you are but you seem like a proper weirdo, so I'll stick you on mute and I recommend you do the same. -

Thinking that we'll lose isn't shite, it's literally just an opinion about how a result will go ye fucking girl. It's got nowt to do with how I support the team, where I'm from (Killingworth btw), or saying I told you so, it's my genuine opinion based on loads of things. -

What a load of emotional bollocks. None of that has anything to do with what I said. -
It's been an alright match but the atmosphere is shite

? Please, I beg people to learn the difference between criticism of an opinion and repression of an opinion. Please.

Well let's hope PIF and Co aren't as fickle as some in our fanbase. -
Plenty of Liverpool fans on social media saying it wasn't a pen. Short of Arsenal fans saying it, that's about as near to consensus as you'll get.
-
Not in 12/13. That was definitely during the 'maybe he'll change' Ashley era.
-
Just to repeat it again. If a large proportion of the crowd turn - in the context of that barely happening at all when Pardew was letting them pull our pants down - they either have collective amnesia or their support isn't worth much.

Fatigue, away form, poor form in general, mental exhaustion and low confidence, high pressure, Howe's FA Cup record. It has all the hallmarks of a match we'll lose. I'm fed up with saying it, but quality doesn't matter when players aren't at the needed energy levels. We're better than Everton, Forest, Chelsea and Luton but it didn't mean anything. In a way this match reminds me of the EFL Cup final last season. It's come at a time where our form and energy has plummeted. -

Think it's about as obvious as it gets that we'll lose this tbh. -
I would think it's that there's no one else. If the aim is to win, who are you playing left wing instead of him? The only alternative I can think of is the one that's been possible for the last 2 weeks - putting Joelinton out there and having Longstaff, Bruno, and Miley in midfield which means there's no player with Willock or Gordon pace to dovetail with him and defensively the midfield is weakened as well. The Ritchie point I dunno if I can accept tbh. It's definitely an option but any criticism Howe gets for overplaying Gordon and others would be more than negated by the criticism he'd get if he played Ritchie.
-
A bit left field but I thought Martin Palermo and Jared Borgetti would do well in Europe
-
There was a point long after this game where I think it was generally accepted on here that we were going to have to play the same XI multiple times because of the players available (at one point we had 3 'keepers or 3 academy players on the bench) and because of the importance of the games. That Man United XI was our C team. 4 of them then got injured on top of our other injuries. (Willock, Targett, Krafth, Burn)
-
Playing Ritchie is an absolute lose/lose for Howe mind. He'd get criticism for doing that and Ritchie would weaken us
-
It wasn't, it's just that the Jota pen brings it into focus.
-
And Hooper as well. Imagine if we'd had to rely on him for 3/4s of a season. The circumstances have changed but I think the reason it's valid is because it wasn't even long ago, so it's not like we have to think back to 10 years ago for the Ashley era, and, crucially imo, we still have loads of the same players. When we were battering PSG it was all Schär, Joelinton, Almiron Longstaff played under Bruce! Our for dips and it completely swings the other way.
-
Tbf, in 94/95 our biggest whinge was Paul Kitson. It's not like KK had to regularly rely on the likes of Guppy, Neilsen and Jeffrey for half a season and turn them from water into wine.
-
He's starting a 17 year old who until a couple of months ago no one knew anything about. Has Miley really got taken for granted that quickly that we've forgotten he was about 6th choice with everyone fit?
-
This is exactly it. Line ups are announced and there are posts (rightly) saying 'that bench ', he brings on Ritchie and the summer recruitment is criticised, he doesn’t bring someone on and he's running players into the ground. As far as I can see those are his options, and someone is going to criticise whichever one he opts for. But all of it does everything to ignore the context in which he's having to make these decisions. I don't get it, is it weak or loser-ish to blame injuries and fatigue even when it's this obvious? Starting to wonder whether Pardew conditioned us all to see every excuse as bullshit.
-
I know that mate, we're all just on here talking shite, none of us have power. Just asking what you'd do. Don't think we have first team/squad players, we have maybe 6 guaranteed starters and the rest are supposed to be similar quality and on rotation. I like that, it's how Man City do it, it just so happens that they're not available along with others so the plan is out the window. It's been a nightmare.
-
Thing is though pre injuries and last season he did mix it up. Maybe not perfectly, he'd sometimes make subs late and risk big players (like Bruno at Sheff Wed) But these injuries are unprecedented like. I dunno how you approach it short of throwing some matches to win others.
