  1. There's not been a single moment where someone hasn't been talking
  2. The line was from the defender's shoulder, the only part of the attacker that was offside was his shoulder
  3. You can score with your shoulder. It's about as just offside as you can be
  4. The offside system is good like. Would be nice to show us at the time and not 10 minutes later though.
  5. I wouldn't even say his passing was bad, it was just a case of him and Isak not being on the same wavelength. Isak kept coming short, Miley kept playing it into the channels, maybe he should have realised he needed to stop playing those balls, or equally maybe Isak should have realised he needed to make those runs.
  6. (through gritted teeth) Adam Cleary
  7. The weird thing is, as awful as their online fans are and as awful as the people around him are, I really like Robbie from AFTV and think he's often very fair, but he created a monster.
  8. I think it's a combination of having a chip on their shoulder because they're perpetually spineless when the going gets tough, and that the leadership at their club doesn't just excuse that sort of behaviour but promotes it themselves. If Howe was as much of a petulant wanker as Arteta is I have no doubt many in our fanbase would take his lead and act in exactly the same way. Thankfully we don't have a manager who goes on like that and embarrasses us or the club.
  9. I don't think it's miles away in terms of being ready to essentially referee games like on FIFA, but I think it's miles away in terms of being culturally acceptable amongst fans and being able to guarantee there won't be unintended consequences or any massive cock ups. There'll still be the possibility of bias as well, because AI is still a human creation, it'll just be harder to detect, and there'll be cries of games being scripted and having handicap coding added I'm not even sure we'll live to see it tbh.
  10. It's miles away, but what's called AI is usually just a learning and aggregate algorithms. So it depends what it's learning, if it's told that last night's hand ball was the right decision for example, it'll still make those decisions.
  11. That group gets pulled out of the pot and you're told at the time that with a game to go a win or draw will guarantee Europa League football, and a win and a result going our way means we go through. You'd be delighted with that and I am delighted with that, regardless of the context.
  12. Not normally one for tarring a fanbase with the brush of its worst representatives, in fact nearly always the opposite, but my fucking god online Arsenal fans are insufferable. It says everything that everywhere you look there are Liverpool, Chelsea, Man United and so on fans all saying it was a sickening decision and that we were robbed, then Arsenal fans, to a man, shoehorning this into being about their 'karma' over a completely incomparable situation that didn't go their way but wasn't remotely on the same level of controversy. Embarrassing dickless clowns.
  13. By all means score conservatively, but you can't go and give Livramento the same score as Gordon and Isak
  14. The battle of who's knackered less Hopefully we're not Bournemouth after Dortmund knackered and/or Man United are.
  15. So good again, even the mistakes he made were understandable and seemed to me like Isak maybe underestimating Miley's ability to play balls in behind. There were a couple of occasions he played some lovely balls in behind but Isak wanted it short. Hard to know who's at fault in those situations, but the balls themselves made sense.
  16. Thought he was truly exceptional last night like. Probably his most well-rounded performance for us and despite blowing out of his arse in the second half he was still the one nicking in with tackles and pressing hard.
  17. It's rare that rules come in without widespread approval, even if it's delayed, let alone with widespread incredulity. Offside, the back pass rule, 3 points for a win, more than 1 sub on the bench, goal line technology. All of them came in to solve problems and solved them. Things like sin bins and adding more layers to VAR are just pure horsing around with problems that don't really exist and doubling down on something that fans increasingly hate about football, it's not progress for anyone other than advertisers and infinite growth marketing dead-enders.
  18. L'Equipe obviously think they're Edge Magazine with their ratings, but that's embarrassing. Tbf, looking at the ratings they've given overall, ours are miles higher than PSG's across the board.
  19. By about 50 minutes I found myself being relieved that the ball was with any of PSG's players down our left side, so confident was I that Tino would handle it no matter what. And he did, every time. That was about as solid a 10/10 performance as you could get from a left back - absolutely pocketed everyone, and when we were attacking early on, being a constant threat. Outstanding, what a player we've got here, fucking hell.
  20. If any one or more of the numerous chances PSG had were taken, I would be sitting here with a draw or a comfortable loss being gutted but saying fair enough. That’s the main thing that’s keeping me in a philosophical mindset about this, that we rode our luck, so I’m not gutted by the result or the performance, in fact I’m happy with both in the grand scheme of things, it’s just obviously the manner in which the result was removed because VAR and the ref picked up the ball and went home. Considering the relatively good decisions that were made up until that point, the 8 minutes added on, the point that it happened in the game, and how universally worthy of ridicule both the VAR intervention and the decision made were, I can’t help but feel like a defcon 1 button was pushed by VAR. It’s daft, I don’t actually believe it, but how can you blame anyone for feeling that way? Hanlon’s razor might be an adage about stupidity but it also provides a cover for malice. We’re all here after a match and yet again talking about how, by yet another remarkable coincidence, the only people in the world who would make that decision were the only people in the world in charge of making that decision. And they just gaslight everyone. More than just how shit the decision was, the main thing for me is that it will now yet again dominate the chat after the game and we’ll see more replays of Livramento’s inadvertent handball than his Messi impression before the goal. Ally McCoist couldn’t have put it better when he said that they completely ruined the night, not just in terms of the decision, but in terms of undoing everyone except those with bias’s enjoyment of the match. In terms of our performance. I’ve seen some amazing Newcastle performances over the years, but I struggle to think of a time when I’ve ever seen us play like we did in that first half. It was unique, the decision making, quality on the ball, attacking intent, precision in passing, and defensive responsibility were all superb, really impressive. Everyone, to a man, gave everything they had and played so well. Second half we ran out of steam and Howe was obviously hamstrung by his options. I've no doubt that with other players available, Isak especially comes off late on, so I have no real complaints and really nothing but admiration for the way Eddie had us set up. To go to Paris and play like that with the injury list we have is remarkable. That was another step up in my estimations of Howe’s ability and one that I didn't expect him to make until we had a stronger squad, never mind him making that step with not just a weaker one, but a weaker injury ravaged one. Regardless of what happened, that was a brilliant and then resilient European performance from Eddie and the boys. Pope: 10 Trippier: 9 Lascelles: 9 Schar: 9 Livramento: 10 Miley: 8 Joelinton: 8.5 Bruno: 9 Almiron: 9.5 Isak: 7.5 Gordon: 7.5
  21. Really nervous about this one like. They're obviously going to go hell for leather and I just hope we can stay in it and make our own chances.
  22. I just cannot get my head around this 'I don't mind if we go out of the competition, that way we can concentrate on getting into the competition' logic
  23. 3rd since Emery came in I think. Very similar to us, only a few points between us. Good to know that both of the managers we looked at are both excellent like.
