he had me at "a lot of you are stood still, stood still's no good you've got to create the space"

Just watch his overlap interview. It's worth watching anyway. He came over to SJP to watch one of our matches and it convinced him that he wanted to play in the PL. That's pretty much it.

I think Coady brings a lot in terms of team spirit that you probably won't get from the alternatives. Probably seems a bit weird picking glorified cheerleaders, but when you think about it, players that far down the pecking order are really unlikely to get game time anyway.

Wood rhymes with lies *taps nose*

Still think Paqueta's better than Bruno, @Flip? Or has Bruno improved so much now that it's much closer than it was? Obviously on current form it's night and day.

Skipped to 22 minutes "I'm learning, I'm still fuckin' learning" FFS, people whinge about cancel culture and comedy and satire being dead, often correctly, often not, but then bow down to it over the most blatantly tongue-in-cheek jokes imaginable, presumably because it threatens their bottom line. Meanwhile cumtown is the most popular patreon podcast of all time and its presenters are millionnaires off the back of rejecting all of that and trusting their audience has the brain capacity to understand how jokes work.
-
TG was fine in the sense that I trust his joke was knowingly playing up to a stereotype. Not at all surprising that a supposed free speech champion like Tate wouldn't think it's acceptable to joke about.
-
My dad lives in CLS so I've been visiting there regularly for the last 25 years. It's only ever been split about 50/50 in the time. In RTG parlance it's a DMZ.
-
Largely ignored Tate for obvious reasons but it's hilarious how he talks almost word-for-word like some of the posts in the World Cup thread.
-
No, but much crazier things have happened. Tite being at SJP for us vs Villa then big Joe putting in a barnstormer plus getting a goal certainly didn't harm his chances either.
-
Side note, but just noticed Umar in the live chat. Proper blast from the past

And Fabinho on current form

Probably doesn't suit how they play but in the right circumstances in a tournament he'd be priceless. He's been robbed imo.

Did I? Pretty sure you're confusing me for someone else, considering I've been in a relationship with the mother of my child for 8 years, was in a 4 year relationship before that, and single for 5 years before that. But yeah you're right, lacking emotion, denying yourself romantic intimacy, and never being vulnerable or showing weakness is totally what masculinity is.
-
I know, sorry everyone.
-
It's really sad that people try to project their own deep-seated insecurities about what it means to be masculine onto others instead of critically analysing what masculinity means.
-
It pains me to say this because I hate him and everything else he does is awful, but when Michael Owen walks everyone through a finish or a chance and describes the thought process from a striker's perspective, it's dare I say not that bad. I'm off for a shower.

I don't think so. I wouldn't want JLA for example there. His analysis takes time and needs data in order for him to pick out his insight. Analysis that's in the moment and on the fly all seems to fall into the same pitfalls of being rushed, guesswork, and out of place imo. Carragher and Neville are fine analysing at halftime or whatever but on co-comms it's often guesswork and also not what you want to hear imo. I just want someone who enjoys the game giving basic but positive opinion on it, like McCoist does. I don't want Poindexter in my ear shoehorning their knowledge in. The people you think should be replacing them are best suited to where they are imo - on a Monday where they've had the time to look at everything properly.

I've been thinking this for a few weeks now, but is this the highest quality Premier League season in its history? I can't ever remember a season with such a high bar from the bottom up. The team at the bottom are on 10 points from 14, with 2 wins and 4 draws, that feels really unusual. Teams like Wolves, Forest, Southampton, Villa, Everton have played some honking stuff but they've also had their moments and/or have ditched the managers responsible. I can see the points total to stay up this season either being the highest it's ever been or 11th to 18th being separated by a couple of points and goal difference.

I had a love hate relationship with Lawro, but yeah it was definitely long overdue. There are far too many like that who don't seem to like football. He gets away with it more than others, possibly because he's one of the fart huffer podcasters but Andy Hinchcliffe needs to fuck off forever imo. Can't stand him.

Exactly, or at least have the humility to ask rather than blag it and lose all credibility. Ally McCoist does that, if he doesn't know something, he'll ask his co-commentator and as far as I can tell, it's part of why he's one of, if not the most liked co-commentator out there. I don't think a lot of them realise that being a slick pro isn't all it's cracked up to be and that humility and authenticity get you a long way.
