  1. Managers somehow delude themselves into thinking that it might work in the long run, that they'll be the ones that can tame him.
  2. Exactly, the price for these type of players always come down to whether the proof is in the pudding. For every Keane there's a Rudiger, for every Maguire there's a Van Dijk.
  3. It's been 3 months since Ashley left after 14 years of penny pinching. Just give in and enjoy it man.
  4. I know there's FFP to consider, but it's going to take a while for people to get out of the owned-by-Mike-Ashley headspace, like. £41m plus add ons isn't a huge amount for a seemingly highly rated defender for a club with unlimited wealth, with plenty of room to move within FFP, who will have to pay over the odds because clubs don't want to lose their best players, they know we're desperate, and they know we have money.

    Jesse Lingard

I heard that he is signing for Club Tropicana
  6. Probably this - https://www.estadiodeportivo.com/sevilla/2022/01/19/newcastle-filtra-acuerdo-diego-carlos/376501.html @ Google Translate for throwing 'succulent record' and 'fetish fishing ground' into the mix.
  7. Yeah you're right, getting mixed up with Lille. Still in the Europa and fighting for the title though.
  8. If their season was over I'd definitely agree, but if you're competing for the title and still in the Champions Europa League, I think it's reasonable that a tax for those things is added. I'm trying to think of it like when we came 5th and were pushing for the CL. If bottom of Ligue 1 Monaco had come along in January and were sniffing around one of the main players that got us there, as a fan I either wouldn't want to sell or I'd want an astronomical fee for us to give up on that. Even Ashley would hold out for the absolute maximum.
  9. This is that article translated for anyone who hasn't seen it.
  10. Based on what? According to recent reports we've already offered €42m
  11. £41m seems reasonable to me considering their situation tbh.
  12. It's a mixed bag, but imo he's been consistently very good when he plays for England and was at West Ham with a run of games.
  13. I think that was one of the other formations he did use at Bournemouth but much less frequently. I do think it's the way forward though, I know Brentford scored 3 times (due to errors in some cases) but that was definitely the most cohesive football we've played under him and on another day or with Dubravka in goal that's a 3-1 or 3-2, but he hasn't played it at all since that match.
  14. Class performance, I remember Trevor Francis on co-commentary being almost giddy watching him. My number 1 is still away to WBA when he scored the third. He also had 2 or 3 almost-Bolton goals in the second half, going on runs that were absolutely ridiculous then not quite finishing. Wish I had the full length match, it was easily our most enjoyable performance with that front 3.
  15. I don't think any of the sources are reputable, but he seems to have got a fair few things right
  16. We might have more info soon.
  17. When Howe came in and a Bournemouth fan was posting on here, they mentioned that he changes formations but that the main two were I think 442 with a diamond and 4411. In a 4411 I would expect Lingard to be the 1 behind the striker or in midfield with Joelinton as the 1 who gets back and supports the midfield.
  18. I would go further and say it's actually been the other way around as well.
  19. He's more of an attacking midfielder/second striker now. Howe likes to play a 442 with a diamond, I would expect that he'd be the attacking point of that diamond and ASM would be on the left, with Fraser or someone else on the right.
  20. 100% yes to Lingard. He was literally the first person I thought of us going for when the takeover happened. Would be ideal and a much better option than Cantwell.
  21. The lad has already said Sevilla are well versed in this sort of situation and have dealt with it fine - giving loads of examples. I doubt we know better.
  22. Personally I don't think ASM's even in the same league as HBA. He's more of a trickster, but that's about it.
  23. I'm really not sure TRs always mean that much.
