  1. Probably the 12 goals and 5 assists in 33 appearances with a newly promoted side like, something the other 2 have never got anywhere near doing.
  2. Was Dubravka really bad under Bruce or something? I've only known him as a generally very consistent safe pair of hands tbh.
  3. Henderson is a bit of an unknown for me, but I'm surprised there's a preference for Pope over Dubravka tbh. At best that's a very mild upgrade imo.
  4. 'No history' about a club that moved to its home 21 years before Arsenal did is a good one.
  5. Ashley Barnes is worse than Sigurdsson and Greenwood combined.
  6. Well I know you would, but I don't think most people are going to compare a transfer spend higher than Man City's with Mike Ashley's at Newcastle just because the funds are generated in the same way. The proof is there that Man United could have spent the same amount of money they have on recruitment, with the Glazers still taking money out of the club, and been very successful at the same time.
  7. No I get that like and don't disagree.
  8. From what I've read about it, it's comparable in some ways, but there's no way you can possibly compare in terms of transfer spend, even relatively. I'm not in any way saying that spend should be the end of the argument or it's the be-all-and-end-all though. I've said many times that Man United are the 'all the gear, no idea' team of the football world.
  9. His lack of pace would put me off I think.
  10. I always remember when we were relegated in 2009, my really canny and well-meaning house mate was like "You'll be fine after a cup of tea"
  11. 38 points in half a season What an absolutely absurd job he's done. There's a Sky Sports Premier League Great Escapes video that doesn't even feature us from this season, presumably Howe having us moonwalk out of the jaws of death a month early means that it can't even be considered an escape.
  12. After something like an outrageous overhead kick "Is it not just luck though?" My lass loves that one, the only goal she's ever given any credit is Messi's against Athletic Bilbao
  13. I get similar but with all non-Newcastle matches.
  14. Definitely, but then Paqueta too who would be another one who seems to be really versatile.
  15. Not totally convinced we need a dedicated DM tbh. I think it's definitely a case of needing Bruno, Joelinton, +1, but both Bruno and Joelinton are quite versatile in the way they play. Bruno can break things up, carry the ball, play key passes, and be a goal threat, as can Joelinton minus the goal threat. Is it not possible that we might look for another player in a similar vain, where we have 3 midfielders who can all do a bit of everything? Similar to Liverpool.
  16. "What I just don't get is how they get paid so much money for kicking a ball around." Strange how they never wonder the same thing about people who pretend to be fictional characters in the TV series' they're obsessed with, or literally any other form of entertainment. Totally brainwashed.
  17. Paqueta would slot in perfectly on the right side of the midfield 3 in a 433 imo, with Joelinton on the left doing ASM's defensive work. Likewise in the 4231 variant I'd see Joelinton on the left of the 2 covering for ASM. We'll see though I guess.
  18. Judging players solely on the Euros and World Cups, often just within one match, that they dip into every couple of years is a big one as well. Until he really clicked after a couple of games in the Euros last year I had non-football fans telling me that Kane is 'massively overrated'
  19. They don't play in the same position. Paqueta's an AM and usually picks up possession more in the centre or on the right.
  20. Bit weird that it was all down that side.
  21. Yet when we took him off we were much more vulnerable at the back and had no attacking threat. Curious.
