With Newcastle it's about that whole feeling part of something thing, which tbh I don't have yet, but in general I love football because of the enjoyment that I get from the game at its base level - high quality football where there's something to play for. For all its pagentry and concentration of power and wealth, the Champions League still has that in abundance. Likewise the PL has it with the title race, top 4, and relegation battle. It's funny because Pre-Southgate I'd rather Newcastle have won a throw than England won the World Cup, totally different now and the playing side of international tournaments feels like the aspect of football that's least tainted by the stink of capitalism and have become some of the most fun to watch as a result.

What's the most anyone's watched this? I've just finished my 3rd watch. We were much better than it felt at the time and the commentary was even worse and Arsenal-centric than it felt at the time too.

I'd have both on. Still remember watching Aguero's goal go in while we were playing absolutely shite at Goodison Park.

I don't remember us being awful in that one. I remember us letting them have possession, pressing them when it went into their wingers and then hitting them pretty clinically on the break.

Flip of a coin at this point between Leeds and Burnley I reckon. You'd lean towards Leeds going down but crazy things happen

Something really clicked with me this season about the credit 'survival specialists' have got over the years. Lampard will be lauded for getting them out of a situation they weren't in beforehand, Eddie Howe spent most of his time at Bournemouth and here this season being so good at surviving that he's not even considered as part of the conversation.

I'll be very surprised if he's still there at this point next season.

Meh fuck it, I bet that was immensely enjoyable for the Everton fans and those moments are what football's all about at the end of the day.
