Imagine though, there is a lot of similarity in their game, what if young Alex has that kind of growth in him? Look forward to the Renault adverts in a few years time: “Whey, whey aye man” (… not quite va-va-boom but ?♂️)
-
Agree with you. Though given they both tend to start, it is more than one position and Willock sometimes ‘out wide’.
-
Fancy a score draw. Here’s hoping, that or worse for them.
-
We never had anything like this kind of opportunity ‘then’. Fair to say missed opportunities to prevent a slide/protect position.
-
No doubt he is a huge part of how we play, we rely on his industry and Longstaff’s tbf, and his goal contribution has obviously been incredible.
-
Be great for him to sample an atmosphere like that. Will he have experienced anything like that derby-level volume in Australia?
-
Got this on Talksport2, realising I don’t know any of the players from either side.

We are Sunderland AFC’s ‘Perfect Cousin’, Kevin (copyright The Undertones). The Kevin’s would be a nice, and more honest addition to their NUFC lexicon. One of the reasons we should sign Gordon is he’s the most likely walking modern-day fashion disaster likely to wear an expensive full-length sheepskin jacket… .
-
Was certainly my top pick/future signing, and some others here, when Leeds looked like going down last season.
-
Was just thinking similar, I wonder what the biggest loss in transfer fee has been, in one season, to date? Have to smash that record to get him me thinks.
-
Can’t see Everton getting anything from next couple of games (Arsenal at home and Liverpool away), and can’t see Lampard surviving the resultant heat. They’ve lost 5 of the last 6 and the fanbase are spewing venom left right and centre. Wonder what kind of season Rafa would have had? (If they had stood firmly behind him and ignored the similar, probs less intense, fan noise last season).
-
Howe would be cautious about losing Longstaff’s defensive contribution and is probably ever hopeful re Miggy doing his (recent) thing. Think he was explaining something similar to little Joe, when he can off. A kind of ‘You’ve done nothing wrong…’ apology.
-
Yep, he can. But hasn’t been. Maybe it is just who he has been up against recently.
-
He’s definitely not firing on all cylinders. Watched him really closely in QF game, and seems that his touch/decision making wasn’t as consistently good as we’d (and he’d) expect. Perhaps just a form/opportunity thing rather than a running on empty fatigue thing. Maybe needs more time rather than benched, but Eddie and crew will make that call. Regardless of what happens beyond that, if he’s fit enough for 90 mins, I’ll be surprised if Isak doesn’t start away to Southampton.
-
Was going to say hope so, but then realised that’s not necessarily a positive thing! Soooo, hope they’re long serving flawlessly outstanding cup and title (why not…) winning presence is only ever equalled in future. There. Gods of fickle fate Jinxism pacified.
-
Well if we ever play Boro again there’s a song they can get behind.
-
What? Didn’t know Martin Keown was still playing! ?
-
Preferred my version, three months earlier.

Botman’s header was close tooo , well struck and could just as easily been the other side of the post.
-
That what he means; by his own standards, even he’s having a poor run ?

The Europeometer™ (2024/25) - NUFC Qualify for Champions League
Coffee_Johnny replied to Rich's topic in Football
Yep, some (I.e. shit loads) of impressive individuals to choose from. Quite a task to forge them into a cohesive team though. Potter’s a methodical/systems kind of manager (by all accounts) might be the first time he has had such a wealth of options (whole system and individual ‘cogs’ in it). I’m still 40-60 (on a good day) as to whether he can make it work. -
The Europeometer™ (2024/25) - NUFC Qualify for Champions League

I think many of us will be feeling the same. Not least the team, in the broadest sense. Just hoping the decision makers are as excited, and as desperate for the profile and income which comes with the Champions League, and this loosens the purse strings. -
Good points; as was Dyer’s re having less space behind a low block for Miggy (in particular) to exploit. We need a couple of alternative options, maybe from craftier players.
-
Good point and well made. We are crying out for a better, or another, ‘master craftsman’ attacking midfielder though. Swap Longstaff for a Maddison and whilst we may (would we though?) lose some energy we would have seen far better final balls and would (may well have) won two or three of that impressive haul of draws. Bring in a Gallagher as well as a Maddison and we would look even better still. Like most I am really enjoying where we are, but scary how close we are to an even higher level.
