Soooo, Diaby (gathering traction on the rumour mill), Wijnaldum on loan (possibly made up), and Osimhen (fantasy football, but Howay we can dream…). That’ll do pig.
-
Shocking, but probably just as well based on the quality shown here. Might have trained the 10 year olds to use the overlockes by the time they get to yours.

We were definitely unlucky in that Man U home game (think we deserved to lose away) and the away loss to Liverpool, that neutrals rave about, we could so easily have won (missed a couple of chances, to go 3-1 up I think, might have broke their spirit a bit). Can’t recall the other losses/draws that season, but think we played shit losing to Blackburn and in that draw with Nottingham Forest. We might not have done, mind, maybe just the disappointment of not wining games we really needed to.

Well if we had won that game, and all other results had remained the same for the rest of the season for Man U and for us, we actually would have won the league. No opinion about it (we would have fished on 81 and them on 79). It was that close. Forget the late ‘demise,’ we could say that by failing to win that home game, against the eventual winners, when we were clearly the better side, we lost our best chance to win the (top) league.

Read these stats in The Mirror: ”Wilson signed for the Magpies in September 2020 for around £20m, and has since gone on to register 20 goals and five assists in 44 top flight outings during his two-season stay. ” Imagine how excited we’d be signing someone new who had that kind of return in the Premier League?

The Man U at home game the following season had, ahem, quite a good atmosphere too! Even though. I swear we didn’t dominate as much as the 0-1.

Hearing you, brother ??

Can’t help wondering what is it for them? Beyond a barely rational compulsion to grow any business venture or an elaborate money laundering scheme… is that shirt Citeh blue?
-
They were and yet fucking amazing too!

It’s the new (ish) thing. We ignore thread topic and talk/bicker/wax lyrical about all sorts of brain shit. Just warming up figures until Osimhen signs ?

I’d have a lot of respect and admiration for Lascelles if, assuming he believes he isn’t going to feature much, he voluntarily offers the armband to be re-allocated. Seems like the right thing to do.

Given the level of interest/excitement at the mo, I’d be surprised if the £35/£15 cost for both games didn’t see both being sold out.

Ah! Nightclubbing in Shields. Buddy’s anyone (below)? £2 in and 40p a pint (Christ I feel old). Occasionally walking home (… about ten miles!) when taxis started demanding money up front. Never saw Kev there mind ?♂️

Near Altrincham, last I heard.

Killer was also at the end of his career. Kind of had a ‘get-out’/acceptable reason for not playing. Not the same or as easy to swallow for Jamaal.

Absolutely no one is going to believe we’ll only fork out for half a forward. Ridiculous bluff!

At least we have no doubts about their commitment, effort and fit in the dressing room. Not to be underestimated.

Sorry to hear this. Really touched me reading about him deciding not to pursue chemotherapy—making tough decision that treatment (at best to extend his life by months) wasn’t worth the impact on his final weeks. RIP.

If we were to create a Newcastle best games collection

Great shout! Wasn’t there but what a way to return to European football! And show the Belgians just why Phillips Albert had signed for us! Hatrick of headers from Rob Lee—out Gary Speeding Gary Speed, before ? Gary Speed he scores them with his heed! ? had even signed! -
Yep, totally agree. Kalvin Philips was my hopeful top choice signing. Though I’d assumed (wrongly) that it’d only be possible if Leeds were relegated; didn’t factor in being wanted by the current best team in the league.

Sven Botman: Out for up to 8 weeks after minor Knee operation (Howe)

He’s got a humorous twinkle in his eyes too. He’d be someone that you wanted ‘in the trenches’ with you, the majority of the down time as well as the life or death situs. -
Leeds and Everton for the drop at the mo. Happy times for promoted sides!

28 August 1982, Newcastle 1-0 QPR. Can’t remember anything about the match itself. Embarrassingly, can’t even vividly picture the goal. Can still re-experience the wait to get in, smell the cider some bugger tried to spit over the police horse pushing through the packed ranks who’d been waiting outside the Gallowgate end for hours in blazing sunshine. Remember the disbelief and excitement of seeing the two times European footballer of the year/English legend turn out in black and white. Kevin Keegan—who I had met at a school football tournament (and was so attentive and welcoming)— is going to be playing for us!?! Felt unbelievable. I definitely wouldn’t have believed the impact he would have, and joy he would bring, to the club. Even though the details are lost in the fug of time, has to be one of the greatest games I have attended.
