  1. Use of term sportswashing.
  2. If we can’t agree on the rating system, thread could be tricky!
  3. Perception of a player’s pace seems to depend upon if he wants to sign or or not ?
  4. Southampton youth player, you say…
  5. Not many of us trust any media it seems.
  6. I wouldn’t rule out other motives. The super rich need stimulation and leisure activities like everyone else. The profile of Premier League football, the visible challenge of building success, the vicarious glory—and inherent excitement—of doing so, the business acumen required to navigate that path, are possible motivating factors I would imagine may play a part. Perhaps as much as, if not more than, any perceived re-focusing/softening of the external perception of the nation of origin of the investors. Maybe, as far as we know, these are the most important factors. Which I guess are no different to the aspirations of most super rich owners of sports clubs.
  7. What are cucks and simps?
  8. Interesting to see asking prices quoted—with seeming authority. And to see Harrison rumour resurface.
  9. Hoping to use this gif by the end of the week ?
  10. He’ll get those snapped in the Premier League (… heels too!)
  11. He’s scored 48 in 85 appearances for them since joining from Almeria (for £20.5m). Must have only been 19-20 years old when he signed for them (22 now). They’re going to be even stronger if the ‘verbal agreement’ for this young Uruguayan pans out.
  12. Newcastle predicted to finish 7th next season: ” 7. Newcastle United (66/1 to win, 15/2 top-four) The biggest jumpers of the lot for obvious reasons. Picked up the fourth most points in the league between February 1 and the final day and improved exponentially under Eddie Howe. Backed to spend big in the summer window as the club look to bring in Champions League-level talent such as Sven Botman and Victor Osimhen.” https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/premier-league-20222023-predicted-table-24203283 I would be delighted with that. What do you reckon?
  13. Same for me really, was always or at least mainly about the strip; the team who were representing me/us. However, when Keegan came as a player (and later, much more so, as a manager) he was my first real NUFC hero. Recall prior to that often pretending to be Rivelino when really young.
  14. Rumour has it that, Dan ‘defo not a family man’ Ashworth abandoned his son at half time, and whisked ‘The Hesitant Young Fool (THYF), off for a cheeky McDonalds (it seems there really is no limit to the dark arts of persuasion we now have at our disposal). There was a, yet to be confirmed, sighting of the THYF on a hired electric scooter trying to keep up with Dan’s brisk burger-hungry walk.
  15. “Va-radi!” Always sounded like Ferrari to my young ears. Perhaps was at times.
  16. Just been reviewing recent links, disregarding the more dubious, and I reckon we are after: 1. a CM (proven and to be a regular starter); 2. a CF (proven regular starter); 3. a versatile CF/wide Forward (early career, occasional starter but with chance for regular place); 4. a wide player/winger (proven regular starter); 5. a goalie (will need to fight for place); 6. a CB (regular starter). Wishful thinking acknowledged.
  17. He was just a good old fashioned (not in a bad way…) sports journalist. He stands in my memory as a reassuring, and trusted voice from the past. Like an ITK uncle, who was actually ITK.
  18. What is going in in here, chaps? homelessness, colourful Tyneside characters, savings and boilers. Has it all gone quiet over in the dark place?
  19. Saw this in yet another speculative article about Botman not being keen: ”AC Milan are also reported to be keen on the 22-year-old Dutch central defender who is apparently better than Liverpool and Netherlands international star Virgil van Dijk.” I mean, come on. On the basis of what? ? The rest of the shite journalism available here: https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2022/06/10/35m-player-not-convinced-by-newcastle-arsenal-and-tottenham-want-him/
  20. Roger Fernandes if there’s truth in this, then I think it’s a really positive sign of his ‘cohesive’ promise. Focussing on future not only immediate needs and wants. “Portuguese newspaper O Jogo has revealed that Dan Ashworth – the new sporting director at Newcastle United – is now overseeing a possible bid for Braga wonderkid Roger Fernandes. The report claims that we’ve been watching the 16-year-old winger throughout last season and have ‘promised’ to come in with an offer this summer after our recruitment team filed a host of ‘positive reports’.” https://www.nufcblog.co.uk/2022/06/10/dan-ashworth-now-overseeing-move-for-portuguese-winger-after-positive-reports-o-jogo/
