  1. Given this is on Prime, will it be shown at any pubs? I’ll in Manchester and would love to watch with others/in St Patrick’s day Guinness haze…
  2. Pretty confident Bruno and Fraser will start. Beyond that can see him going five at the back again.
  3. You know what, however it goes, it’ll be exciting to find out. Fully expect Eddie to be fully backed this summer. Fuck the politics, but Saudi only likely to even even wealthier following disengagement from trade with Russia re oil. HTL!
  4. Genuine, open, diplomatic, thoughtful… what a guy. Proud to have him as our manager (not just because he knows his stuff!)
  5. Makem-German one of the worst variations.
  6. He seems to have the right kind of character for a Howe team and is a magnificent player. Do you not think they could make an amazing partnership/complement each other? I keep dwelling on it as a indicator of our new cash rich status and my most longed for signing.
  7. I had Martin Chivers (Spurs) and George Best figures—earlier version of similar toys. Loved replaying goals I had seen/scored/would like to have scored with them, with a marble, on my brown nylon bedspread it (… was like early 4G) . God I feel old! ?
  8. Yep, we were far too scared to keep him, but we’d keep him in a heart beat now.
  9. Me too. But felt the same. Against Southampton. Think/hope my radar is fucked.
  10. Recall him getting back pretty sharpish for slide tackle in second half. Suspect the ‘slow’ notion is more an illusion of his controlled style of play. He’s definitely not a kick and rush merchant. Perhaps we’ll see him in a flat out foot race at some point in coming games and that’ll add more evidence.
  11. Or… Dubs Tripper Schar Burn Targett Bruno Phillips Raphina Joelinton ASM Havertz/Rashford
  12. When Raphina was a teenager he played for a team called Guimaraes. it’s a sign!!! Should Leeds drop, him and Kalvin Phillips. £80m or half of that with a couple of proven Championship performers (Shelvey and Murphy? Big harsh on Shelvey but both would be desirable)
  13. Hope Leeds go down, mainly as I would love to poach two or three of their players.
  14. For what it is worth, if we apply a simple prediction formula (beat bottom six sides home and away; lose to top six home and away; beat mid table at home, draw/lose away) then we would return 18 points from remaining games. For comparison, we’ve done better than this formula predicts for last 9 games. Getting 20 points, instead of 16 predicted. So if our form continues, somewhere between 18 and 23 points. The pessimistic prediction would be a return to the average for the season (can’t see worse than that) which would return 11 points. Soooo, pseudo statistical crystal ball says anywhere between 42 and 54 points, probably 49. I’d (almost) happily take lower estimate. Anyway, would take a very unlikely huge collapse to see anything but safety now.
  15. I supported Newcastle when we twice finished second in the Premier League, and finished in the top six a further five times. When we got to three FA Cup Finals; two further FA Cup semi-finals. When we reached one League Cup final and seven LC quarter finals. When we made it to three UEFA cup quarter finals, and one semi-final. When we beat Juventus and Barcelona in the Champions League. When I eventually saw them score, in person, at Wembley (thanks Rob Lee). When we won the ‘Championship’ three times, and were promoted another time. When we finished third in the new big bad Premiership, by just doing our stuff and blowing teams away in the way we had the season before in the supposedly markedly inferior league below. When the personalities and passion involved made you could feel proud of the club and it made you proud to be a Geordie. There are more good times coming, and we will be around to see them.
  16. Thought he was sound again today. Not sure he has picked up the praise he deserves in our recent upturn in form. Approaching Philippe Albert stylee footballing centre back status for me.
  17. Would really love to see them as a pairing. Fingers crossed for Everton. More Portuguese insults/sledging for Richarlison!
  18. Sorry, you’re right just checked 3-0 12th Feb. One league win since 6th December.
  19. They are above the drop on goal difference only (admittedly with games in hand), have lost ten premier league games in a row (last win Home to Arsenal, 2-1, 6th Dec). In April they have West Ham (Away), Man Utd (H), Liverpool (A), Chelsea (H). They must see us as the most winnable game and are in dire straits if they don’t win (There’s a Knopfler pun in there somewhere dying to get out…). Irrational as it sounds, as they are fighting for their top flight status (never been relegated in living memory) makes me think they are more likely to win this game.
  20. That penalty decision, ‘kin hell! Really can’t get my head around it. It wasn’t even a quick coming together which could easily be missed. Went on for a few seconds and shirt was nearly off Murph’s back!
  21. ? thanks genuinely made me laugh out loud (much needed!).
  22. Havertz interview “[they] made it tough for us… they had big def sets. Who always tried to block us, fouls us…. This guy is 7 [or] 8 foot tall…” little fucker.
  23. Solid and classy. With and without the ball a real asset.
