  1. How are you feeling about the change of manager? But too reactive? Or right decision in the medium/long term?
  2. I can still recall the delight of singing ‘Watford 8 bastards 0, hallelujah’. Would prefer that scoreline and some kind of (unwanted) record for Heckingbottom.
  3. Yes me too, on both counts. Which is why I wouldn’t be surprised to see us try for Phillips if a loan was available. Even if surplus to requirements, when everyone is fully fit, we wanted Tonali (well I think we really wanted Szoboszlai) and squad size is a bit like portion size for food: you’d rather be looking at it than for it.
  4. I guess I have imagined more of a central fluid pairing. For example, it was someone like Phillips, perhaps with him more often than not, sticking and enabling Bruno to approach the opposition box. Take your point though, that requires a tweak to current midfield roles.
  5. Was just going to post our link with him (Football Insider/BBC). Plus De Gea (free agent) and Ramsdale. Off to ogle the 16 goals.
  6. Gameweek 15 Wolves 2-1 Burnley Luton 2-3 Arsenal Brighton 2-2 Brentford Palace 1-1 Bournemouth Fulham 1-1 Forest Sheff United 0-2 Liverpool Villa 2-3 Man City Man United 1-2 Chelsea Everton 1-2 Newcastle Spurs 3-1 West Ham
  7. Christ, even amongst some of the games I’ve missed out on this season, it’s going to be tough not being there (…unless I come up with a cunning plan!).
  8. Would, for obvious reasons, love to see Anderson, Longstaff and Miley start this. Plus Dummett and Murphy and BDB!
  9. Agree with all you say. And do think everyone has a price, especially those of a certain age, just can’t see Murphy going. They/we all trust him, he’s happy with his role, and he’s apparently an integral part of the team spirit.
  10. Visible limp at the end. Hope he’s ok (physically and mentally) for Everton.
  11. Great call. I watched some of the first half on slight fast forward (wanted to get to start of second half on time) and the angles and interchanges looked amazing. So many players with so much confidence in possession.
  12. My favourite post of the week. ?
  13. My absolute favourite bit of the match was Fab twatting Fake Bruno (totally meant it). After said Faknandes had deliberately twatted Gordon. Lovely (though obvious) indicator that young Anthony had indeed ‘earned’ his protection now.
  14. Full games, for us, thus far: 27 Sep Man City 1-0 (RB) 1 Nov Man Utd 3-0 (RB) 7 Nov 0-2 Dortmund (RW) 25 Nov 4-1 Chelsea (LB) 28 Nov 1-1 PSG (LB) 2 Dec 1-0 Man Utd (LB) Solid in all. MotM in three. He’s had, on total, the equivalent of about 27 PL games (in cumulative minutes). The vast majority aged 18-19 for a poor Southampton side. What a career he could have.
  15. Not this year. Our run in with what will feel like a shit load of new signings will be a joy to behold.
  16. Still a young man. Eddie, and our team ethos, would make him fulfill his potential. (p.s. there was more of a sense of ‘collective endeavour’ when he was at Fletcher Moss).
  17. 49 years since my first visit to SJP (and cementing of the mind virus…) and I can’t recall a two game sequence when, all things taken into account, I have felt prouder of the lads. A draw and a 1-0 win, but two phenomenal performances. No malo indeed.
  18. Sensible plan is let him stay and continue to develop where he is. Needs must (…when the devil pukes in your kettle) plan is it would be daft to leave a player elsewhere if he is more than holding his own in champions league games when we’re down to putting green as grass academy players and three keepers on the bench in vital games.
