  1. @r0cafella Sorry, no clue. May just have been rumoured (prior to 2023-24 season, I think).
  2. We wanted him previously, wouldn’t be surprised.
  3. Christ, errr @Christ, that is a tough competition.
  4. We’re having a welcome to the big time summer, is one way of looking at it. Losing out on options for players we want to Liverpool, Man City, Chelsea, Manure, now Bayern Munich (possibly). Could be/has been worse.
  5. Just tried, quantity in basket ( ie one!) exceeds something or other. Shearer’s still showing as available too.
  6. Damn! It was showing as available both times I tried to purchase. Perhaps there were a number of other orders in process.
  7. Just tried to buy one and it wouldn’t let me (despite being a member with a purchase history) feckers won’t let me have a ticket even when the price is daylight robbery!
  8. The ‘local MH’ trust serves Cumbria, Northumberland and Tyne & Wear so probably is.
  9. Same questions, really though. ‘Top Clubs after best players’ shocker! It would be great to find some under the radar, but can’t be that many around in this information-rich age.
  10. This made me think. What is it that has and hasn’t happened which shows a flawed plan or naivety? I mean, fully behind the disappointing and (Isak) worrying descriptions, but naive and flawed? We have a list of preferred players for needed positions. This doesn’t guarantee you get what you want. We’ve got one, missed out (it seems…) on others. We have players we wanted to move on, a bit of this has occurred; but again in most cases regardless of plan/strategy you can’t make this happen. We have kept an eye on and moved for ‘development’ players. Hard to say how off plan we are with this aspect. We will change direction and pivot towards/consider unforeseen opportunities, any plan needs to have such flexibility. Some noise, e.g. Gallagher (who we have shown interest in previous would be a good fit) to suggest that we’re doing this. We have to defend or take the opportunities afforded by concrete interest in our players. There’s often a randomness to this; especially if one of ours, who we don’t want to sell, is open to a move. Some of this is played out, to some extent, in public; some no doubt remains firmly behind closed doors. We are (all) disappointed no doubt that thus far we are still some way away from a viable squad for next season’s challenges—at least in terms of how we would all like to be equipped to face them—but it’s not like Penfold’s fax has been on the blink and the plan was for all of our activity to go managed through that; or we only had three names and had an ‘at least we tried’ pre-prepared answer as our only contingency.
  11. Maybe we need to be doing similar with mid table teams. Hire an ex MI6 operator or two!
  12. Reading this exchange convinced me I must be more hung over than I thought…. .
  13. It’s his Elanga-plast. It’s quite sweet that they are co-ordinating.
  14. 103 miles SJP to Elland Road. 116 miles to Turf Moor.
  15. Or we’ll pay what we can, or what we will pay. Full stop. Take it or leave it. Eki-fecker and Guehi sagas maybe gives a very clear message that we won’t be bent over. Frustrating as it is to have our hopes dashed (mostly for Eddie et al.) not a bad basis to approach future negotiations.
  16. Was he here for the PSG game? (Just checked he didn’t go on loan to EF until 2024, so still at PSG in Oct ‘23 but he wasn’t on the bench).
  17. RIP ‘The Leap’. Great player for us by all accounts.
  18. Be like listening to Johnny Logan fronting the Toy Dolls.
  19. I’m imagining you typing this with tongue firmly in cheek. As in nobody can seriously believe that this would be a reason, even partly, for that kind of spending.
  20. Ekitike only wants Newcastle. Ekitike prefers Liverpool. Blah, blah, blah… . So sick of typing his name already. Bottom line is we will have two strikers for next season. Unless we have meaningful alternatives, which are seen as beneficial for the team as a whole, only one of them will be new.
  21. Isak seems to have good relationships throughout the squad and with the management/coaching staff (not to forget his bond with the fans). These are the kind of ties that bind. I’m not saying that this would stop him wanting to further his career and boost his finances, but I do think it would prevent him chucking the dummy if we didn’t let him go.
  22. Born on 17 March 2007! Paddy Seung-soo.
  23. Of course he won’t. Right time for him to go but his contribution will be duly appreciated always.
  24. 😂 I prefer the sole use of the bar and free drinks all night ending.
