That was soooo painful to watch. Then I remembered 1995-96, particularly our home game, and I smiled through the remainder.

I’d respect your opinion more if you decided it was all the hoarding’s fault, stripped naked and kicked the fuck out of it.
-
It’s one of our centre backs that has been done for pace, leading to a goal, two games in a row now. Shame we don’t have one of them with pace.

Good job we have Karius in reserve… .

Newcastle United vs. Bournemouth: 17/2/24 @ 15:00 (No UK TV)

It’s just boring now. Burn blah blah blah is all I process. He’s more than earned a little patience. -
Absolutely loved seeing all those moments lined up. What a season he’s having, and in difficult circumstances given the absence of big hitters around him much of the time. Think how good could he be next season!

It’s that tucking table tennis/football thing they play. Lethal! edit: Howe probably makes them do it anarl!

1. Make offsides easier to determine. So unless the attacker’s torso is ahead of the defender’s (clear daylight/gap). It’s onside. Still prevents goal mooching and hoof ball. 2. Prevent academies and centres of excellence signing kids from overseas/out of region. Non-regional players only come in at full contract stage, over 18 (or 21) stage. 3. Keep technology to aid referees’ decision making, invest in improving the timeliness, validity and reliability of judgements. 4. Let clubs sign some players they can afford to but limit numbers to 25 of over 21 players in squad, by including any on loan.

The most punchable of faces, and not even as tall as Dan. It’s a no from me.

The Europeometer™ (2024/25) - NUFC Qualify for Champions League
Coffee_Johnny replied to Rich's topic in Football
It is shit though. Both teams on the rise, with potential to elbow their way into the usual Champions League cadre. Both disseminated by injuries and unable to use January in the way it was meant to be used. I know 11 random injuries, doesn’t stop 4 ACLs from aching ?, but despite hard cup draws and the group of F, we would have progressed from the CL group stages and our league form—particularly against bottom quarter teams we should be comfortably beating—wouldn’t have taken such a nose dive if we had had an actual first team squad rather than (just about) a first 11. -
Certainly the right age and skill set is a good fit.

We can still theoretically accumulate 78 points. 62 should be enough for sixth. 6 or 7 points from the next three games will make me confident of a sixth place finish. -
Thanks. Think I’ve already dropped them in above. Now in date order. Would definitely fancy seeing a repeat of the 1924 run!
-
Earliest relevant FA cup I have is 1907-08 (see below which also omits the Europa League). I’ll check different sources ? https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/newcastle-united/pokalhistorie/verein/762

Thanks for feedback and advice all? Added Europa League, Intertoto, and early omissions to NUFC cup record: QF or better. Now in date order.
-
Let me know of any QF/sixth round/last 8, or better you think are missing and I’ll add them. Would be nice to have an inclusive record. I need to add Chelsea EFL QF this year, and Man Utd Cardiff debacle.
-
Yep, thanks. 1-4, season before the QF defeat to Chelsea. I’ll edit it in later.
-
A record of our results in cup competitions where we have reached the QF or better. EDIT: corrected below.

Well if we were to win all the remaining games a 78 point total pretty much guarantees Champions League. So kind of still in our hands. Not that I think we will, but I wouldn’t be shocked if we gathered another 28 points (64 total) and/or didn’t lose again this season. -

We are 5 points from an end of February total (Bournemouth H and Arsenal A to play) which would put us bang on the average points total for a sixth place finish. So still in there with a chance. -

Interesting thing about Man Utd, is they have only taken 1 point of the ‘Tier 1’ teams (tier based on last season’s finishing positions) but have amassed 18 points from Tier 4 opponents. It’s the latter where we have really let ourselves down. Could/should have had an extra 8 points and be right in the Top 4 mix, if we had been as effective as them, against those expect to be fighting relegation.
