Haha. Well considering they brought on their most expensive striker, I'd say I was right. Of course I think Klopp is a great manager (but just a horrible man really), but I do disagree it was a masterclass. But maybe you're right with him knowing his players better and working with them for a long time. It does help. I just think he lucked out. If those 2 shots that hit the bar go in, we are not talking about a Klopp masterclass, we are talking about a domination. But yes, small margins.

I don't think so. Nunez played a worldie against us last year and still was benched. He's very hit and miss. He just hits against us.

Exactly this. It's not as if the match between Newcastle and Aston villa means that AV are a bad team - far from it. I would say for us, it was more important to beat AV than it was Liverpool, because I believe we are gunning for similar places in the league to them. If people had called for Emery's head after our match, we would call them mad.. he's done wonders for that team and has got them competing to where they should be. He got it wrong that day but he's one of the only managers in the league, along with Howe, that will learn from that mistake. I'm sure he will be chomping at the bit to beat us at their place and I wouldn't be surprised if they did. I wouldn't be surprised if we beat Liverpool at Anfield because now Howe will not rest until his mistakes and ours are corrected. A little humility goes a long way. Probably Liverpool could do with some too and I hope a team dishes it out to them very soon.

Harsh on Targett if Hall comes straight in. I doubt he would do that, I'd be happy to see Targett get a run out, I think we've all forgotten that it's nice to have a LB that can get up and down the pitch and off up some attacking threat. Bring Hall on for 20 mins for a taste as I'm assuming Targett's fitness isn't up to 90 mins yet.

I gathered up the courage to watch those highlights over and it has changed my perspective greatly. We didn't play badly - Yes maybe we got complacent but it reminds me of the Everton game 2 seasons ago when they went down to 10 men and won it with an Iwobi worldly. Sometimes luck is just not on your side. We were INCREDIBLY unlucky. And Liverpool were incredibly clinical which is what we can learn from. Although funnily, Nunez usually isn't clinical. This is not a defining moment this early in the season, it's a good reminded to this squad that results don't come for free. For Liverpool, it might paper over the cracks but there's no way they should have won that really. I don't think it's a Klopp masterclass - he's just got incredibly talented players to bring on. And one day, we will too. So they can gloat all they want but so many of them say that "none of the Newcastle squad would get in this team" - but we are up there fighting against them and stealing CL off them. We have technically improved on our results from last year, whereas they have declined. And these small margins are important as what we just witnessed in that match. Also, the Barnes/Wilson chance - he hesitates. I think because the last time he passed to Wilson, he fluffed his lines so he hesitated whether to go alone or not. Wilson needs to prove to him that he puts that away every time.

Both teams will be up for this to right the past wrongs. Will be an interesting match for sure. I live in Brighton so if we win, it'll be all that much sweeter for me.

Just also having a little read of Klopp's bio. It pissed me off when 'pool fans go on about relegating Bournemouth so on and so forth. Klopp manager Mainz 05 after playing for them for a number of years and sealed them promotion. He then relegated them and left. Joined Dortmund, guided them to a title within 3 years and a UEFA CL final within 4. Then he joined Liverpool and we all know what he does there. Eddie hasn't really had a dissimilar story. Wasn't the best player (due to his injuries) in Bournemouth but then managed them and guided them to 3?? Promotions. Eventual relegation from the PL resulted in his resignation. Move forward to Newcastle. Saves us from relegation and then takes us our first cup final in however long and a top 4 finish, back into the CL after 20 years. So we spent *some* money after years of no investment .. literally it was just a team that could compete!!!! I mean... If Klopp does not respect Howe in anyway shape or form, then honestly he needs to look in the mirror.

Some very reasonable responses on here which I've thoroughly enjoyed reading. It amazes me how people are so quick to jump on EH back when the greatest managers of our time were made EXACTLY like this. Honestly, Eddie will be renowned as the best manager in the world at some stage. The sheer hard work and relentlessness of him is what will set him apart from his competitors. I see Pep in him, albeit much more reserved and put together. But the obsession is real and it is what will make him absolutely quality.

Me too..I can't even bear the highlights. I had a dodgy stream and actually missed all 3 goals apart from the in match highlights but to fuck I'm gonna rewatch it at the moment. I'll save it after a sweet win.

I feel like beating Liverpool is almost like the hoodoo that Man City had towards winning the champions league. But just like they won it last season, our time WILL come. And it will be sweet! Side note: obvs if we win the CL, well I couldn't give a fuck about beating Liverpool lols
-
You ok hun?
-
Yeah, best player by a clear margin. Him and Trippier are the only ones who have posted so far on Insta which says a lot.
-
Insufferable probably..like we would be if we had won haha

A good result at Brighton will go a long way in healing this gaping wound. But even if we got a draw, I'm not gonna panic. We have by far the toughest start and I'm sure it was put there to derail us by any means. Rise above!

I think Eddie's earned our trust on this. I'm going to forget about it all now and move on!

Bad day at the office but no one's perfect. Klopp hasn't been at Liverpool for 7 years because he's a cretin, he's been there because even though he is a cretin, he is good at his job. He's also 11 years older than Howe and been managing a lot longer than him. No way Howe out. He's here to stay and learn and grow with us. And he will. This game will haunt him.
-
Wish I could shake this off but I'm just in a BAD mood. Fucking hell. How can football make you feel like this! Just a game FFS. It's laughable really! Need to give my head a shake and think about my real problems to make myself feel better/worse.
-
Well a +2 GD is better than nothing.
-
Yep, knew that would hurt. Well played Liverpool. We have a lot to learn. But, we are still another +1 GD up from last year, so - all in all, we are improving! Onwards and upwards!
-
This. Is. Beautiful.
-
There's no rivalry, I just think they're Smarmy bastards and would like to twat them a few times. For all Klopp has done, he's an absolute cretin.
-
We did reduce the defecit by half tho. improvement!
-
I wonder what comments he'll read out to them for this game. I do believe this time it's different but it's so hard to call on any given day.
-
Yeah I agree, there's something incredibly special about him! Our "Messi, Ronaldo, Mbappe" type player.
