Longstaff starting like he finished the last - passive wandering. -

Decent line up. Prefer Karius to Dubs anyway, more presence - But, I'm sure i've cursed it now. See who wins the midfield battle - Big game for young Miley this. The rest is evenly matched. HWTL Edit - I cant stand these fuckers! -

This! All over the fucking shop lately. I'm not sure he did much wrong today for all Dan Burns issues. Tino got the wrong side at the end also. It happens, it is a fine strike and weak GK'ing. Highlight - Miley & Gordon. -

Lack a sharp point. A striker, even maybe -
Fantastic today, great passing range and intelligent football brain. Showing up Longstaff tbh.

Pacey Young Right Central Defender Athletic Intelligent Ball Winning Midfielder Right Winger who can use both feet, with a little guile would be nice. A Forward who scores goals and is fit more than 1/3 games. Pacey Left Back (Hall? I'm not sure) A backup/No 1 GK who reads the game, is commanding and can kick a football to the above People. Eventually you'd have: GK/Pope Trippier / Tino Schar / Pacey Guy Botman Tino / Hall Athletic Ball winning MF / Tonali Bruno / Anderson Big Jo / Little Jo Gordon / Barnes Right Winger / Gordon Isak / Fit Forward / Young Forward Sell Miggy, Wilson, Lasecelles, Dubs, all the old boys.

Longstaff is just meh....amount of times he just chases a man back hopelessly. It's a weekly feature. He was too busy arguing with the ref at one point and let his man run off him. Just a passive, sloppy and indecisive footballer. Our Midfield has ZERO recovery pace. -

Some fucking short memories on here like, the shit BDB is getting is way overboard. He should have been subbed earlier last week, as the mismatch-up was clear from minute one due to pace, otherwise he's hardly stank the season out. He's been decent and critical in some big wins. Fickle fucking fans strike again. I'll trust Howe to make the call, but if's he up against Carl Lewis he needs to switch it out earlier, rather than watch him struggle. -
Newcastle United 4-4 Luton Town (03/02/24) | Reaction: pg40

Technically Schar would be superb there but he's probably slower than Bruno on the turn. And I'm not sure Howe wants any of our '3' to sit and protect in the old-fashioned sense. I remember reading about Howe, when we signed Tonali and how he sees the team as a fluid entity. -
Love Dan Burn, but on tactics alone, his inclusion, and presence til the second halve was Eddie's fault.
-
Think he's a decent GK, mid table. Very indecisive and passive though, and never catches the ball.

Longstaff - so fucking passive, it's a joke recently. Does he want to be playing? -
60m - they can fuck right off. I agree he's a 20-25m max in this inflated weird world. I think he's very limited but it might unlock Bruno + 1 if he just sits in that 6 role.
-
100% still with him and will be next season. But please look to sit someone in front of the back four. You can drive a fucking P&O Ferry through that gap between defence and midfield. The amount of times Foden, KDB or any other fucker this season has picked the ball up and ran at us is mental!
-
Defended him to the hilt but honestly agree, he's been bang average since November. He's so lackadaisical on the ball and seems even more half-arsed chasing back. Lad gives hi all, but it's not good enough. We desperately need some pace and physicality in the middle in my opinion, especially with Big Jo being out. Lewis is a kid and his time will come, Bruno is fantastic but pretty one-paced. Longstaff is just very very limited and the weakest link. Priority needs to be another midfielder this month, on loan, or purchased, whatever it takes.

Newcastle United 2-3 Manchester City (13/01/23)
Oregon_Geordie replied to Yorkie's topic in Football
We're fucked man. Got zero options and the 11 are fucked, but the inability to close down the space between midfield and defence is a joke. That's the manager. Longstaff was a disaster today, but none of them seem to sit and just protect - we give every number 10 the freedom of the city, game after game.
