  1. No change with Fabrizio (yet?)
  2. The Athletic mention a statement saying there are two acceptable bids. If this is one then Storey or an unknown maybe sane alternative must be another
  3. Boxing Day's always a fun one, since 2010 2010: Man City (H) 2011: Bolton (A) 2012: Man Utd (A) 2013: Stoke (H) 2014: Man Utd (A) 2015: Everton (H) 2016: Sheff Wed (H) 2017: Man City (H) 2018: Liverpool (A) 2019: Man Utd (A) 2020: Man City (A) 2021: Man Utd (H)
  4. https://www.sunderlandecho.com/news/crime/sunderland-afc-chairman-kyril-louis-dreyfus-banned-after-being-caught-driving-at-110mph-3721668 Sunderland chairman Kyril Louis-Dreyfus has been hit with an eight-week driving ban after being clocked at 110mph. The 24-year-old was spotted driving his Range Rover on the southbound A194(M) on September 1 last year. The speed limit is 70mph. The case was dealt with at Gateshead Magistrates Court. Louis-Dreyfus, whose address was given as being in Durham, did not attend and the case was proved in his absence. He was given a discretionary 56-day driving ban, and fined £660 with £110 costs. Louis-Dreyfus, who is rumoured to have a trust fund worth more than $2billion, was given two weeks to pay.
  5. I got 2 mins in and he still hadn't said who it was, I thought it would've been him He did a 'Bruce is officially sacked' livestream 9 days before we did it! And there'll be many other examples Also I didn't realise the club were doing month by month reviews of the season, just posted October which obviously was a big month https://www.nufc.co.uk/news/features/202122-season-review-august/ https://www.nufc.co.uk/news/features/202122-season-review-september/ https://www.nufc.co.uk/news/features/202122-season-review-october/ "On Thursday, 7th October 2021, an exciting new era began for Newcastle United as an investment group led by the Public Investment Fund (PIF), and also comprising PCP Capital Partners and RB Sports & Media, acquired the football club. While the Magpies were still awaiting a maiden win in their 2021/22 campaign, hope was restored amongst Newcastle supporters following a new ownership group, with Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi meeting staff at St. James' Park hours after the takeover to outline their plans for the club. After more than two years in charge, Steve Bruce would leave his position as head coach by mutual consent, with Graeme Jones leading the team on an interim basis whilst talisman striker Callum Wilson returned to the side following injury."
  6. We did one for Jones when he came in so you'd hope the new owners would follow suit, though sporting director's that bit more significant for the club's future than assistant head coach was
  7. Think it shows his experience as a PL manager, but anyway... nice
  8. Bordeaux comes from something Staveley said
  9. He must get tired of it all Asking him about Slask might be some worth though
  10. That includes Jones' 3 games, so take that away for Howe's 27:
  11. Since Bruce left Newcastle picked up the 6th most points out of any team in the league. More points than Man United and West Ham who were challenging Europe. A bit of perspective... although we've massively overperformed to get there picking up wins when they weren't expected over the 2nd half of the season
  12. He's one we've continuously been linked with in January
  13. In October: “I think this might be my last job,” said Bruce. “It’s not just about me; it’s taken its toll on my whole family because they are all Geordies and I can’t ignore that. “I can’t take her for granted, she has spent her whole life following me around from football club to football club and if I was to say to her tomorrow, I’ve been offered a job in China, or anywhere, she would say, 'Steve, is this right for you, do you want to do it?' And she’d back me again. “I’m 60 years old and I don’t know if I want to put her through it again. We’ve got a good life so, yeah, this will probably be me done as a manager - until I get a phone call from a chairman somewhere asking if I can give them a hand. Never say never, I’ve learnt that.”
  14. He's at it again "I couldn't finish my managerial career on what happened at Newcastle. "I'd taken too much stick - I was being ridiculed. And there's nothing worse. You can accept it if you have picked the wrong team. But I was being pulled to pieces because people were saying I couldn't take a warm-up - that I'd given the players too many days off. "I knew what the team was doing on the pitch wasn't what Newcastle United fans wanted. And I know they were fed up. They wanted change. "But I had a brief to keep the club in the Premier League. And we finished 12th and 13th in my two full seasons. "I know we weren't entertaining or attractive to watch. I'll hold my hands up. We were pragmatic, defensive. I did what I had to do. Would the sale to the new owners have gone ahead if the club was in the Championship? I'm not so sure [This is Neil Moxley writing himself: "Newcastle's loss could be the Baggies' gain."] He's the one that did the Robertson coach article the other week
  15. Based on what RMC suggested last night essentially ^^
  16. Always find the Northern Echo to be hit or miss, but if it's true the regulars (Hope, Downie) will chip in later I'm sure https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sport/20187895.hugo-ekitike-agrees-join-newcastle-united-reims/ HUGO EKITIKE has told Reims officials he is ready to join Newcastle United once his international responsibilities with France Under-20s are completed. Ekitike has told Reims officials he is ready to leave, and it is understood that information has been relayed to senior officials at Newcastle. The teenager will have to complete a medical and finalise personal terms before his transfer is completed, but that is unlikely to happen until he has finished playing for France Under-20s in the Maurice Revello tournament. The victory means France finished on top of their group and qualified for the semi-finals of the tournament, which are due to take place on Thursday, with the final scheduled for Sunday, June 12. It is not impossible that Ekitike could leave the French camp in order to complete his move to Newcastle, although with everything having been agreed between the Magpies and Reims, it is more likely that he will remain with the France squad for the remainder of the competition before travelling to England in the following week to tie up the loose ends of his transfer. Newcastle have also made progress in their pursuit of Lille centre-half Sven Botman, although the Dutchman is also the subject of strong interest from newly-crowned Italian champions AC Milan. Botman, who is another player the Magpies initially attempted to sign in January, is expected to make a decision on his future in the next couple of weeks, with Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe hoping the 22-year-old will reject Milan’s advances and opt for a move to Tyneside.
  17. Anything relating to stats is interesting so it's good the club will make the most of it, from February "StatsBomb’s performance data will allow the Tyneside club to generate detailed insights from thousands of match events across dozens of league and cup competitions worldwide. Newcastle will be able to analyse specific StatsBomb metrics across all of its matches and evaluate its opponents’ performances too. Unique StatsBomb metrics include Pressures by Team and Player, Player Positioning on Shots, and Pass Height & Footedness Information. As part of the agreement, Newcastle will also benefit from the Statsbomb IQ platform, which will enhance the club’s tactical decisions and talent identification process throughout their current and future campaigns." Common sense stuff for the modern age but exciting for a club stuck in the past in many ways being brought to date
  18. Nice thread on him by a scout in the game Potential's supposedly there but needs to bulk up and be given lots of confidence for him to succeed. Just bed him in like we did Bruno and hopefully we'll pay dividends down the line
