  1. Just want a win so we get a dressing room photo
  2. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-10693705/Unpaid-sum-preventing-Ashworth-joining-Newcastle-resigning-Brighton-post.html Brighton are demanding £5million from Newcastle to release Dan Ashworth from gardening leave. Sportsmail can reveal the seven-figure sum that is preventing the 51-year-old from taking up his position as the club’s sporting director. We understand there is frustration on Newcastle’s part that they have been unable to reach a compromise and install the man who will oversee the club’s restructuring. However, the Saudi-backed owners - led in the UK by Amanda Staveley and her husband Mehrdad Ghodoussi - will not pay what they believe to be inflated prices, be that for players or staff. There is a precedent of Everton paying around £2m in compensation when director of football Steve Walsh joined from Leicester in 2016.

In 1000 pages last time Sunderland got relegated to League 1 (confirmed 1 week after it was made) and didn't make it out
  4. No team to have such a poor start (winless in 14) to the season has ever stayed up - we went 9 games unbeaten and are 9 points clear with 8 games remaining assuming Burnley don't win their games in hand. We'll crawl over the line and look forward to an exciting summer with Howe very much in the centre of the club's plans

Be due a new thread soon... notice how it's taken almost 4 years for us to fill 999 pages (14 comments per page). They rattle through dozens of threads a year that cumulatively stack way above however many we had, not to mention the threads that aren't the big umbrella one (20 messages a page)
  7. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-10679921/Newcastle-ready-cash-Allan-Saint-Maximin-summer.html Newcastle United are willing to cash in on star man Allan Saint-Maximin this summer. The 25-year-old is a huge favourite with Newcastle fans but Sportsmail understands the club would be prepared to sell him for around £50million. The funds would then go back into their transfer kitty to bolster Eddie Howe's squad.

https://www.readytogo.net/smb/threads/happy-international-transgender-day-of-visibility.1575368/ It's not just the football which the forum excels at - first three comments
  9. People like him, and Kevin Nolan on Talksport especially... turns out a few days later if Allardyce got the job (he was offered but turned it down because it wouldn't work the second time - forgetting it didn't work the first) then Nolan would have had a spot on the coaching team hence praising Ashley etc
  10. Not strictly football but stadium related... knew it was mentioned a little while back but now in talks "Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, which owns 80 per cent of the football club, is believed to be eager to stage the fight at Newcastle’s home ground. A capacity of 25,000 for the night has been discussed. The stadium will host matches at the Rugby League World Cup in October and there is now a drive to bring this fight to St James’." One to look out for moving forward with big events involving PIF
  11. The news is that we might (worst case) have to wait until November for Ashworth to come in. Obviously the clubs can come to an agreement for it to be resolved ahead of the summer if they wanted
  12. From the Ashworth article https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-10665443/Dan-Ashworth-wait-NOVEMBER-taking-Newcastles-sporting-director.html Meanwhile, the club’s scouting team will hold a series of meetings this week to organise summer targets. We understand positions up for discussion are goalkeeper, centre-back, central midfield, winger and striker. The goalkeepers mentioned include Arsenal’s Bernd Leno, West Bromwich Albion's Sam Johnstone, Manchester United's Dean Henderson and Chelsea's Kepa Arrizabalaga, although the latter is seen as a loan option. RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol, the 20-year-old Croatian, will have no shortage of suitors but is expected to be part of discussions this week, as will Bournemouth’s Lloyd Kelly. Midfielders under consideration are said to include Brighton’s Yves Bissouma and Leeds star Kalvin Phillips, with wingers Brennan Johnson, of Nottingham Forest, and Bayer Leverkusen’s Moussa Diaby also on the list. In attack, meanwhile, Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Benfica’s Darwin Nunez, Leverkusen’s Patrik Schick and Alexander Isak of Real Sociedad are among the targets.

  15. https://inews.co.uk/sport/football/newcastle-united-premier-league-sides-copy-man-city-multi-club-model-1542220?ITO=newsnow Newcastle and Southampton head a new group of Premier League clubs looking to create a multi-club model to mirror Manchester City’s all-conquering City Football Group. Southampton, now under the ownership of Sport Republic, are actively exploring the market to buy stakes in other clubs but arguably the most intriguing possibility is Newcastle’s PIF-led consortium creating their own version of the City operation. It is understood that PIF want a global presence in football and other sports to follow from their Premier League investment. The Magpies are at the very early stages of a complete overhaul of club operations, with a director of football and CEO both set to be appointed soon alongside sizeable investment in infrastructure, the academy and the stadium. The initial ambition is to transform Newcastle into a club capable of challenging in the Premier League, but in the medium- to long-term the Saudis want to create a portfolio of clubs which is led by the Magpies in a similar way to Manchester City.
