  1. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-11427521/Cristiano-Ronaldo-met-Bayern-Munich-chiefs-week-wantaway-star-plots-Man-United-escape.html But Sportsmail understands that Ronaldo and his agent, Jorge Mendes, met with Bayern last week after officials from the Bundesliga giants flew to England for talks. Mendes touted Ronaldo to Bayern and a number of other clubs including Chelsea, Sporting Lisbon and Napoli in the summer in a desperate attempt to get his star client out of United, and also spoke to Newcastle last month. Chelsea owner Todd Boehly could also offer Ronaldo a way out of United in January. The American has a close relationship with Mendes and was interested in Ronaldo in the summer, but he was met with resistance from then Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel. However, it is understood that Graham Potter is equally unenthused by the prospect of signing the five-time Ballon d’Or winner at this stage of his career.
  2. https://www.football.london/arsenal-fc/transfer-news/almiron-arsenal-man-utd-transfer-25440162 Understandably, top English clubs may be interested in acquiring the services of Almiron and according to his agent Daniel Campos, several clubs have already shown interest. Campos told ABC Cardinal: "Miguel Almiron is a footballer who went from less to more, now he is a more complete footballer. "There was interest shown by Manchester United in Miguel Almiron but they never made an offer. Arsenal and Southampton offered loan deals for Miguel Almiron but we did not want it to be a loan." The contract Almiron signed when he joined the Magpies from Atlanta United for a then club-record £21million, is said to include a £58million release clause and could be a useful bargaining chip with Newcastle likely to ask for considerable funds if any club were to coming knocking.
  3. https://www.hampshirelive.news/sport/football/football-news/every-word-ralph-hasenhuttl-newcastle-7782272 This is the last home game in the Premier League you have before the World Cup, how important is it to take points? "It's very important and a very tough game against a strong side. They have conceded ten goals in all the games so far and we've conceded 20. They have [a goal difference of] 14 I think and we've scored 11 or something like that. You see that, with clean sheets, you can achieve a lot. They've done it in a fantastic way. A strong side." They're fourth in the table, do you think they have what it takes to stay there? "Absolutely. That is the target I think for them. They want to become a top six club and I think this is the goal and they are in a good way to do this because they have a strong side." Do you look at them with envy when you see what they've been able to do in the last couple of transfer windows? "No. We look at our chances and on our level and I think it's not the club we want to compete with." It's a very different transfer strategy, isn't it? "A different potential, maybe from the money they can spend. But they have different targets and you have to have money to do this." How much have you been impressed by Eddie Howe at Newcastle United? "This is only the one side - the other side is that you have to work with the players you have and I mean Eddie was very long in Bournemouth and in the end he struggled with this team and then had no other job until he went to Newcastle and in Newcastle he showed immediately that he knows what he does with a team and this was, for me, not a surprise that he will be successful with his team." Have you kept an eye on Matt Targett after you worked with him at the start of your time here? "You have all the former players that have been with you in your game in your sights - you have them in your mind - and you watch them and you see them how they're doing when they're going to other clubs. This is normal, I think." How do you cope with the ferocity of Newcastle's team? "It's impressive to see how they're doing and I think they definitely have the players to do this and not every player is playing in the moment. Allan Saint-Maximin was not playing all the time and he [Howe] is now going more for the players that give you this. This intense game, lots of high-speed running, especially against the ball. "And we all know that this can be a very nasty way of setting an opponent under pressure. But we also have been a team with this style, as you said, and we know teams like this. I think when we do it really well we can still cause them some issues. Sometimes you don't get a lot of chances against this team, that's for sure I think, but when we have a good evening we have shown we can break their rhythm. Especially with our ground and with our fans in the back, I think we should be able to cause them some issues and this is the goal for this Sunday." Do you see quite a few similarities between you and Eddie Howe in your style of coaching and the way your philosophies are? "Maybe you know more about him and how he's working. I cannot say about his total philosophy. What do I do worse and such. But I think he's one of the of the young managers in England that has a lot of experience in the Premier League. He had a long time working in Bournemouth and finally got now a club where he can show how he deals with a bigger side and this is fantastic to watch."
  4. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-11390627/Eddie-Howe-claims-believed-Newcastle-squad-fires-dig-Steve-Bruce.html When asked if he believed those players were always better than people gave them credit for, Howe said: ‘Yes, I did. I had that belief internally that we'd got some really good players. I think my first impressions were genuine, a really willing group that wanted to be coached, that wanted help, so I felt that was a really good starting point. ‘I love coaching players and trying to improve them. From day one here, I sensed a really open group who wanted that work. I don’t feel we have bought the success we’re currently having. It has come from hard work and brilliant performances from the players. We’re just doing the best we can, day to day. It was a massive club in need of an injection of positivity and some good results.’ ‘Down the years, I’ve learned never to underestimate players’ abilities given the right surroundings, conditions and confidence,’ he said. ‘I’ve seen it many times, players I’ve worked with at League Two level that have then been playing in the Championship a couple of years later when you wouldn’t have initially thought that possible.
  5. They'll be in the same part of the world as us, as the World Cup lot if it helps them think "Mowbray and the senior squad will travel to the UAE during that period, as the team undertake a week-long warm-weather training camp in Dubai."

  8. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/sportsnews/article-11313355/MARTIN-SAMUEL-Big-Six-allies-Newcastle-Forest-foolish-look.html A closed shop is not looking for trade. And the Big Six are not looking to become seven any time soon either. Certainly not eight. So, if the word from recent Premier League meetings is to be believed, Newcastle and Nottingham Forest are what are known as useful idiots. It is suggested both are cosying up to the elite cabal, the Super League clubs who not so long ago were looking to stampede over the horizon, destroying the Premier League in the process, and leaving the clubs who remained choking on their dust. Newcastle and Forest have big ambitions and see the six as their natural allies. If this is true, they are even more foolish than they look. Newcastle are faring better but if they think they are any more welcome in the ranks of the elite than among the disgruntled 14, they are wrong. The likes of Tottenham and Arsenal fear their rise as much as West Ham and Everton, and the only reason Manchester City abstained on rules that appeared to target Newcastle’s ability to raise commercial revenue from Saudi enterprises is they believe it is as much an attack on their links to businesses in Abu Dhabi. If Newcastle want to know the true nature of the six, ask City, the last members through the door. City are in because, without them, without Pep Guardiola, Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne, the competition would lose some of its allure. Yet just about every regulatory move made by the elite clubs of England and Europe in the last decade has been designed to curb City.
  9. https://www.thefa.com/news/2022/sep/15/liverpool-fc-and-newcastle-united-fc-coaches-suspended-150922 Coaches from Liverpool FC and Newcastle United FC have been banned, fined and warned for breaching FA Rule E3 during their Premier League game on Wednesday 31 August 2022. John Achterberg and Daniel Hodges both admitted that their behaviour during the 98th minute was improper, and the Liverpool FC coach also accepted that he used abusive and insulting gestures. An independent Regulatory Commission has fined the Liverpool FC and Newcastle United FC coaches £7,000 and £6,000 respectively, banned them from the touchline for one fixture, and warned them as to their future conduct. The written reasons for these sanctions will be published in due course.
