  1. Yep, if it stops them getting him.. maybe!
  2. If xG means so much, the two seasons before the most recent one he did really well with that Wolves squad. Good step up for him
  3. 5/7 isn't the date, I think it's the type of case it deals with
  4. The tweet to break Twitter
  5. The longest transfer saga in a while is over. What a relief it'll be when one of our running sagas (4 years in the making almost) ends!
  6. Athletic insist some in the consortium favoured Poch, others Arteta (I think pre-Arsenal). Rafa wasn't the be-all and end-all even if they did still like him. "That is not to say that Benitez was not one of their managerial targets — because he was, but him being in the dugout was not the dealbreaker it had been three years before. The consortium contains two partners beyond PCP — the billionaire Reuben Brothers and PIF, who hold an 80 per cent stake — and other members of the group championed Mauricio Pochettino, while Mikel Arteta had previously been viewed as an option, too."
  7. When fans don't hear an update in a while the pessimism comes in, obviously because uncertainties arise and confidence falls as we're more privy to those worries. But materially little changes unless something is made public about it, at some unknown point in the future
  8. As for PL arbitration that applies section A's definitions of control and person on PIF and the KSA to determine whether the PL were right to provisionally conclude what they did. In my head the idea is to overturn that which facilitates an easier pathway to takeover from Staveley's group. If it all fails fine we'll have alternatives. But none have managed to get anywhere near in the 4 years (more like 3.5) the club has been for sale
  9. How can the CAT case be solely damages when one of the seeking points was "An injunction requiring the Defendant to withdraw the Director Decision and/or to reconsider the same" (the director decision provisionally being PIF = KSA)
  10. It's such a shame we hit a glass ceiling with Rafa. His hands-on approach and meticulous managing of all the small details, the project misaligns with Ashley's hands-off approach; he wanted out for about 2/3 of his time here. Surprised he (Rafa) even saw out the contract in hindsight as Ashley either couldn't, or wouldn't fund that project. "He left us for the money!" He did, both the money not available for whatever reason here and the money given at Dalian and that isn't just the contract salary. Good luck to him, someone young but similar if that's possible would be ideal post-takeover. Without a takeover, we know the alternatives fine well
  11. If we get the takeover then we can embrace a totally new direction then, putting away the Ashley era and its baggage for good. That's assuming the consortium wants a new manager, which I would hope they would!
  12. They had details like staff arrangements to arrange, that's all completed now. 100% done and ready to announce rather than a... 90% done before
  13. Impression is spend wisely, not spend what you reasonably earn
  14. FFP's being completely reworked apparently. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/mar/25/football-financial-fair-play-rules-to-be-ripped-up-after-covid-crisis https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/lower-fees-and-wages-in-revamp-of-financial-fair-play-rules-9kmkrm70h "The break-even rule, the way it works now it looks backwards: it performs an assessment of a situation in the past [looking at profit and loss over three previous seasons]. The pandemic represents such an abrupt change that looking to the past is becoming purposeless." "Uefa says it will completely overhaul its Financial Fair Play rules and that it wants to reduce wages and transfer fees to “acceptable levels” rather than obliging clubs to break even."

Danny Graham? The same Danny who was better than Wilson supposedly... there's an answer for you
  16. Tbf Caulkin (who I do trust for understanding what the consortium thought) said a mission statement would've been the first thing to happen. "A mission statement was prepared and practised. She would have talked about ambition and drive, about getting to the Champions League, about communicating with fans, embracing club legends, funding the women’s team, reaching out to local businesses and institutions." Yeah the women's team especially needs good investment. Women's football is quickly gaining traction and it'd be amazing for the next generation of girls to play for a successful Newcastle side. We're currently in the " FA Women's National League Division One North" which is the 4th tier of the pyramid. The biggest reason for wanting this takeover is the transformation it will have in every aspect, from the infrastructure to the playing squad, the communication and the local regeneration. Such a shame it's proven this difficult to clear it, and even still it may not work out.
