Reckon Williams could be decent at right back. He wouldn't have a hope in hell playing LB as a right footer in this side though. Can't accept the idea of us developing other clubs young players, we need to be aiming higher than that as a club.

No chance this club is paying out a penny when they'll think they can just sign him in the summer free

£15M when he's got six months left on his deal is a take-on

Don't blame any player sitting out their contract signed, but just questioning his ambition. If I was him I'd have wanted to secure a permanent club somewhere and try and be playing every week years ago. 25 and he's probably no better than what he was at 20, even factoring injuries only played 70 first team games.

This club continually baffles me. Was never a part of Rafa's plans, neither Bruce, so don't understand why we didn't get him out the door 2/3 years ago. Saying that, something doesn't add up with him. Wouldn't be surprised if he's got a bit of an attitude problem. He's obviously been content to sit out on whatever contract he's been given too instead of going out and being an ambitious young player and forging a career somewhere. Spent the last 6 months at age 24/25 doing nowt. He's been loaned out here, there and everywhere, yet no club has wanted him or come in for him either. Landed on his feet with Huddersfield and a Championship club, so best of luck to him.

Can he play centre mid?

Even Vuckic and Aarons were near permanently crocked when they came into the first team squad

Imagine any club paying for Big Joe

Feel the pain for WBA fans. Matheus Pereira can't get in the side now, and their signing likes of 33 yo Snodgrass.

We would get absolutely annihilated playing that lineup. Aye, that's why I said the worst case - but worryingly it'll likely not be too far off what starts. Think Wilson will be rested, and may as well be, so Bruce will probably stick Joe up front on his own (despite saying already he isn't suited to it). Carroll wouldn't be that much worse than Joe up on his own anyway, would at least win a few fouls that we can hoy the ball into the box from! -

Worst case has to be - Dubravka; Yedlin, Krath, Fernandez, Clark, Ritchie; Hendrick, Shelvey, Longstaff, Joe; Carroll Would like to see us stop with the 5 at the back, although the CB's and Darlow are the only in form. It's plain to see we need more players higher up the pitch. -
Christian Eriksen Will be some oaf like Snodgrass on loan

The Managerial Merry Go Round™ - Frank in at Tottenham

I’d have him in till the end of the season. Honestly, without a second thought as well. Aye same, doubt Ashley would be similarly inclined though It wouldn’t shock me too much tbh. You hate Bruce, here’s someone you like. Don’t care if he’s experienced or not, you asked for the change and I gave you it. Job done. He’d obviously take it as well, and do a much better job than Bruce. He's more of a 'Geordie' than Bruce, if that even means anything anyway. Always got the impression that Barton really likes Newcastle, and speaks fondly of the club and fans. Certainly more than I ever heard Bruce do in the past. Was obviously forced out of the club by Ashley/Llambias. Wouldn't be so sure that he even would take it. I just think he wouldn't want anything to do with Ashley ever again. Unlike Bruce, he's not the character to tow a party line when he knows it's bullshit, and he obviously knows how the club runs from his time here. -

Par for the course with this club Selling our shit players is a problem for this club. We've struggled for ages permanently offloading the deadwood. Saivet, Aarons, Lazaar haven't had futures at the club for years now, but haven't shifted them, was the same with Colback. Could never move Gayle on two/three years ago when he was seemingly on his way out.

Opted for Bruce, but spoilt for choice. Hatred for him is far worse than Pardew, every aspect of his management I despise. His whole tenure is a death by a thousand cuts. I no longer care if we win, lose or draw, no longer celebrate when we score. The only emotion left is the hope that we don't get bloody relegated. As long as he is here, there is no silver lining to supporting this Ashley run club any more. He has to be accepted to play the worst football of the lot. Only a handful of games at most haven't been the same disjointed shit show, although can only recall Bournemouth away. Any success from a game is relied on our ability to suck the life from other teams, and drag them down to our level, whilst having zero ability to attack as a team or control a game.

Same odds as us losing 4-0 to us winning 1-0 -
If there is no takeover, and he's still around to start next season, potentially irreversible damage will be caused during that transfer window and the time he inevitably relegates us or is sacked. If we're relegated I can't see us bouncing back straight away for a third time. The squad is in a total state as it is, loads of contracts running out, so as bare minimum it will need to be a busy window. He's had over a £100M to spend so far, plus those contracts handed out to Ritchie, Shelvey and Carroll - the fat moron has managed to take us backwards.
-
Ahh yes, the schools are closed aren't they. Wasn't saying Rafa was to blame for these signings, far from it - just that it's frustrating that what money we did have wasn't fully utilised. Ki not so much, albeit probably big contract, but £10M on Muto, £10M+ on Murphy, didn't turn out great when we had nothing to spend at the time.
-
Think Rafa's track record at Liverpool for signings is just as good/bad as any other manager of that era really. Wenger, Ferguson, Mourinho all brought in their fair share of rubbish outweighed by obvious quality. Rafa and transfers here was just so frustrating. Limited budget, but relatively decent money spent into the likes of Murphy, Muto, Ki that didn't further our cause at all. Who's actually in charge of any recruitment department at the club now anyway? Unrelated point, but always get the impression that we have minimal connections to agents wise. Any talent of note is always heading to other clubs, especially from Europe.

Had a look over state of contracts on nufc.com, and it is depressing viewing. Just as alarming as lack of quantity/quality we have been bringing in. There are players that we actually should be renewing, players that have shown to be good enough and holding this side together atm - that will doubtless walk on frees. We've got cloggers' contracts up, that half will no doubt be renewed just so the club retains squad numbers. All while we've got untold dross tied down for years and years. 7 contracts up in the summer, so potentially 7 bodies we'll have to replace in the squad. The thought of this club and Bruce being in charge of signing another 7 players is frightening, that's not even considering the glaring deficiencies already existing. Worrying/problematic contract situations for me; Schar, Fernandez - 2021 - our best defenders, going to walk on free Murphy, Carroll - 2021 - unerring feeling both are going to be given extensions, if not just to keep squad numbers up Ritchie, Shelvey, Krath - 2023 Hendrick, Manquillo - 2024 Joelinton - 2025 We've had an awful track record of moving players on for ages now, so going to be stuck with those cloggers for years to come.
-
Isn't are PL registration full? (Plus all the deadwood still at the club outside that (Saivet, Atsu, Aarons, Lazaar)) Any loan in would have to be U21 if so. Don't think Brandon Williams is an answer to our problems. Playing a handful of games here and there for Man U as a right footed left back is totally different to what he'll be in for here. Plus I don't see the sense in being a development of top 6 clubs' young players.

To think Lardarse went 2-0 up in an FA Cup final against these not so long ago! -
Wish we could attract players like Danny Ings. Would have been a great signing for us in 2018
