We still have City and Liverpool to play twice so it's more likely 20 games.

I'm not one to write off matches, but those 4 games surely yield a maximum of 1 point?

We haven't won in 14, we've played all 3 promoted teams and you're talking about closing a 9 point gap. I'm not saying it's impossible but it's not far off.

Being honest, regardless of other teams results if we don't beat Burnley we're as good as done.

Tonight is as flat as I've felt since the takeover. With 11 men we'd have strolled to a victory tonight. Norwich are so poor.

Everyone else has to play Liverpool and Man City too.

Plus, why couldn’t we get something? Crystal Palace just beat Man City and Brighton got a draw at Anfield. They’re not untouchable.

Unlikely, aye. But no game should be written off.

  2. It’s crazy to have a manager who clearly adapts his tactics to the opposition and doesn’t play the same turgid way every single game.

Yes, he got it wrong against Arsenal, but in the other two games he’s managed two difficult situations and we’ve been unlucky to only come away with two points.

I also see players running through brick walls for him. ASM and Shelvey two talented players who could be liable to throw the towel in are giving him 110%.

We’ve seen immediate improvement in individual players like Joelinton and Lewis today.

The signs are good. We can going like we are and we’ll pick wins and points up.

I’d much rather he gets to know the team and players he can trust in November, rather than March like Rafa was faced with.

Watford are the side we should be looking to catch. They play Chelsea at home tomorrow and Man City at home on Saturday before going away to Brentford. Can make up points on that, just need to fucking win a game.

Palace hardly setting the world alight. Brentford too.

Leeds will still be in the mix despite one win.

We’re only nine points away from nine teams. We can easily make that gap up on at least three of them over the course of 24 games.

I’d say we’ve got an extremely slim chance of staying up, especially when Leeds score this penalty. I’m at a 9.

That’s fine. But it’s not reflective of what the lay person thinks.

Which is completely against the point Decky made, which was what we were talking about.

I’d say we will possibly go down, but we’ve still got every chance. A very long way to go yet.

Still, I'll caveat this by saying it's his third game and he missed his first one with COVID. He'll surely learn, but he has to learn fast given the position we're in.

We can't be seeing Clark and Ritchie next game, and I personally don't want to see Hayden on the park again at all.

We‘ll be in trouble if we do. I think playing a suspended player is possibly against the rules.

We’re 2nd favourites for relegation in a league where 3 teams go down. What are the odds actually proving here? That we’ll finish higher than Norwich?

The comment Decky made was everyone would have us as absolute certainties to go down.

Clearly not. Otherwise we’d be 1/5 or 1/10 or something.

We’re one of the favourites to go down, but it’s quite clear to most people that we’ve got every chance of survival.

  7. 11 minutes ago, Optimistic Nut said:

The commentator literally said ‘good reach’ at first then afterwards when it ended up in the back of the net started saying he should have done better.

To be fair, initially it did seem like he was stretching for it and it was a decent reach. But on replays he could’ve done much better.

The odds are probably giving us the chance that we'll throw money about in January but I think it'll be too late then. Our games following Burnley and into the transfer window are probably the worst run of games you could ask for with the exception of Chelsea not being in there. I don't see how this group of players are going to picking points up in that run in based on the previous 14 games, they're just not good enough. We'll just have to wait and see, I obviously hope I'm wrong.

Everyone has to play everyone twice.

We also have a really decent run of games from the New Year onward.

I was making the point that people massively overestimated Fulham, people had them winning loads, while underestimated us. Cos people in here always wank themselves over being the most pessimistic in the hope that at some point they'll be right and can say 'see, I was right, it was *certain*'

I’m just arguing with everyone mate. Even those who agree with me. I’m just pleased to be passionate about the club again.

  10. Just now, Decky said:

Aye course I am. I wish I was as deluded as you, life would be a lot easier.

Can you not explain the odds then?

Why does nobody else think we’re certain for relegation like you said they would?

Have a cup of tea and calm down. Come back on here in a couple of weeks and you’ll not need to get so worked up.

  11. Just now, Inferior Acuña said:

Remind me how many points people in here thought Fulham were going to get last season

Had Fulham been taken over by mega rich consortium with huge ideas, a toxic cloud lifted from the club and a new manager?

As I said earlier, comparisons are completely worthless.

  12. 2 minutes ago, Decky said:

Keep your head in the sand, if this was a club you didn't support you'd have them dead and buried, everyone would. We have played nearly every other team in the league, four of the five that we haven't played are away to Liverpool, Everton, Leicester and home to City, which are all probably games that we will set up to get a point similar to Arsenal away. Points aren't good enough at this stage now, we need to be finding three points in games.

We need to beat about 8 teams at least to stay up now, who are they going to be? We can't keep clean sheets and look shot to shit after about 70 minutes. It isn't pathetic to think we're in serious trouble and we're probably going down, its being realistic.

Well, if that’s the case (which it’s not). Why are we not the clear odds on favourites for relegation? Not even 1/2 ffs.

Because, you’re wrong, and a total drama queen.

  13. 1 minute ago, Decky said:

What. I appreciate your optimism man but Jesus Leicester are definitely not easily beatable for us. We haven't beaten 14 of the other teams in the league this season and a lot of them aren't half the side Leicester are.

We thrashed the very same Leicester last season.

Leicester managed to lose 1-0 to a team bottom of the Polish league this season. If they can beat them, so can we.

As well as putting in some piss poor performances and results elsewhere (losing to Brighton, West Ham… drawing to Leeds, Spartak Moscow).

    They’re 10th. We’re hardly playing prime Barcelona.

  14. 3 minutes ago, HaydnNUFC said:

I do think it's far too simplistic a view to say "if we can't beat Norwich at home". We had 10 men for 81 minutes because Clark is a nonce. Could've been so different.

People being very reactionary again. We’ll win one game and those 10s will turn into 4s.

A season is 38 games, comparing it to x, y or z is largely irrelevant because every team and season is different.

As long as we’re within touching distance (0-9 points) from safety going into that run of fixtures in January, I’d give us every chance.

We weren't even that deep after the goal though.

Schär should have had a free kick when their player stepped on him instead of a throw in to them just before the goal as well.

The ball was already out of play wasn’t it when the step happened? If not it must have been pretty close.

He was great all night but that error was inexplicable. Came from nowhere tbh.

    Yup.

Massive error and he has it in him. Saved us at the end though.

That’s the difference, Darlow wouldn’t have. Or he’d have thrown another one in.

0 points in December will be absolutely catastrophic. We’re not getting a thing from those fixtures.

Burnley at home is about as easier start as we could wish for.

Leicester are easily beatable, they’re woeful defensively.

We’re also playing to win games now, so we have ever chance going into ever game.

    Beating Burnley is essential though.

  18. 1 minute ago, Chicane said:

He's improved a lot finally, but let's not start acting like the criticism hasn't been warranted. He's been turbogash for 95% of his time here.

As with <insert player here>, it’s no surprise when he’s not been played in the right position/not playing in a team using tactics/not playing under a competent football manager.

    Delete as necessary.

  19. A point today isn’t the end of the world, a loss would have been.

The Burnley game is a must win now though. I said we’d need four points from these two and we definitely do.

Not just for our own points tally but to prevent Norwich/Burnley getting a win.

  20. 1 minute ago, Newcastle Fan said:

Should never play for us again, he's exactly the type of player we should be hounding out of our club if we were to move forward

Not sure we should be ‘hounding’ anyone out.

But aye, he should be finished, that was the last straw following nothing but brainfarts from him.
