  1. I thought CAT’s write up of one of the panel members was interesting:

    ”Michael Cutting

    Ordinary Member

Michael Cutting was from 1988 to 2018 a competition lawyer at Linklaters LLP, including terms leading its London and global competition practices. He also served terms on the Board of Linklaters and Co-chair of the Joint Working Party on competition law of the Bar and Law Society. His experience in private practice included UK and EU merger control, cartels, abuse of dominance and utility regulation. He is also a governor of a primary school in Tottenham and is a member of the Board and management committee of Islington MIND. ”

I wonder how many people streamed the hearing? I’ll bet it was significantly higher than they usually have for hearings.

Mr Justice commented on the fact there was ‘thousands’ watching.

I imagine Ryder Limited and Another v MAN SE and Others might struggle to command such a crowd.

That's an amazing stat they just read out on BT. Man United have played Villarreal 5 times before tonight and there's never been a single goal.

Eh? The Europa League Final was 1-1?

I’m still certain for a better team he’d be great in the PL.

Easily 10+ goals a season for a midtable team. No idea if he’d do better than that but he’s easily at least that level.

I'd like to see NUST release something about the upcoming CAT case.  Especially as they've been contributing to the fan led review on football governance.

Feels like a perfect opportunity to put some subtle pressure out there about how the CAT case jurisdiction challenge from the PL embodies the lack of transparency that all football fans are craving to see the end of, especially moreso now that UEFA have dropped their case against the remaining ESL clubs.

Didn’t quite get your wish, but they did manage to post to tell fans not to record the session  Almost as ridiculous as the health and safety assessment of the London process.

Considering we heard first hand today about how much the PL wants to hide from Newcastle fans, it’s staggering they’re still sat on their hands.

Interesting to note that the premier league today couldn’t differentiate between Newcastle United and St James Holdings but is adamant that it’s know there is absolutely no difference between PIF and Saudi Arabia.

I thought it the admission that the PL considers SJH to be a director but the company hasn’t been through the test was interesting.

Plus the fact neither has Justin Barnes, who has substantial control over the club, more than Mike Ashley in fact.

Sort of ridicules the whole process. I still doubt arbitration will go our way, because it’ll be as bent as everything else, but it’s a farce.

We're at a whopping 24 definites atm (though I appreciate circumstances can change, and that is fine), and still waiting on confirmation from a fat handful of others as well.

I know lockdown has been hard, but this is unnecessary… I am trying to shift it.

  8. I’m feeling slightly more optimistic after today. Although it still requires a positive outcome from arbitration.

The fact we heard arbitration may not even happen in January could be good (i.e. the PL and club come to a settlement outside of it) or it could be crap and more delays expected.

Probably asking a really basic year old question here… but what’s the issue with the KSA being director anyway? Why would they not pass the test? Or maybe I have completely misunderstood stuff [emoji38]

Would fail it due to piracy issues.

There's no secret WhatsApp group. It's a WhatsApp group for the takeover. Most of the lads are previous forum posters who don't come on anymore. Most are good friends.

Keith just likes to feel important.

Secret club, eh? Sounds a bit like a cartel.

Did Whitley lobby you to not let me in?

Written judgments are running about a month plus. Probably looking at seeing something November-ish, unless they speed it up due to public interest.

If SJHL wins outright, then the PL will have to file a response to SJHL's claim and there should be an administrative hearing to set a schedule. Looking at next year sometime before anything substantive would happen. (I mean, barring a settlement, of course).

I assume the parties find out the decision well before the written judgement goes on the website?

  12. It’s been quite fascinating although I’ve had to dip in and out of it due to work. I hope someone provides a really good write up of the whole thing.

Although Lee Ryder is probably currently penning a piece on “10 things you didn’t know about Jonjo Shelvey’s great great grandmother.”
