The more I think about it, the more hilarious I find it that after making such a song and dance about his 1,000th game that he marks it forever more by putting in such a completely shit performance. A goal head start, a full strength squad, the world's cameras on you and playing in front of your new bosses. You've even put on a suit. And then, over the course of 90 minutes you demonstrate to literally everyone just how utterly inept you are, with an unfit team that doesn't know what it's doing, gets ripped apart at will and making bizarre decisions that make things worse, like having his hopeless little pet substitute first of all make no difference and then get sent off. Hahaha! Mind, I can laugh about it now, but I won't be if his gormless face is still there at Palace.

Well, Bruce doesn't do either attack or defence. So having a coach that could do either of those things would be an improvement beyond the dreams of man. Yes, you wonder about the capabilities of the squad, but they'd all improve under someone with a working brain.

Not sure how representative a Talksport fan is. We've had plenty of our own fans going on there with daft opinions, who don't represent the majority. What I do think is that it's a heck of a job to turn Everton around, and there will be bumps in the road. The trouble Rafa has is that so many were hostile to him in the first place, and people in general don't like to be proven wrong. So, every setback is amplified because it supports their previous view, and every step forward filed away with a shrug. For what it's worth, they were really poor against West Ham. They have an expensive squad that doesn't really work and Rafa hasn't the budget for a radical overhaul. So it'll take a while for his coaching to pay off, and I'm not sure he'll be given that time. For what it's worth, I do think he can be pig-headed at times, sticking to players he shouldn't and fiddling around with systems until one works. Not sure Rondon is one to stick with right now, given his time away from elite football, for example, though not sure what other options he has right now. He'd have been ideal for us right now of course, but that ship has sailed, so I'm more excited to see what the next thing is rather than hark back to him.

I'd be surprised if this was the case, given how stony faced they looked towards the end, and it's the one change they can make. Palace is also definitely a must not lose, but if he's still there after that, you might as well keep the sad sack there for the drubbing at Chelsea as well. We've no idea what is going on behind the scenes, though, re new candidates etc. Equally, if there's concern about the scale of his pay off, I'd keep him employed for a few more weeks but ban him from the ground, whilst getting lawyers to go through his contract to see if there are underperformance clauses or loopholes. Maybe you could still actually employ a proper manager in the meantime, since his official role is Head Coach (or whatever it is), so it's not like someone is taking 'his' job because he actually isn't the manager anyway.

I'd honestly be happier with a pie on a stick in the dug-out instead. Except that might just attract the buffet pest back to the ground.

It's a good job for the Saudis that there's one special guy who knows what's really important and should really be the focus of the world's cameras. But it's not all about him, of course. And actually, just to follow on from that point, it's not just his arrogance and thin skinned delusion, I'm going to come back to the lying point and his sheer contempt for the fans he supposedly represents. Here is one obvious lie. When he managed Sunderland, he claimed that it had never been his dream to manage Newcastle. But when he came here, whilst acting disgracefully towards Shef Wed, the narrative was that he'd be mad to turn down the dream chance to manage his boyhood club. You might think he had to say that when at Sunderland. But whichever way you look at it, he was clearly lying to one whole set of fans or the other. But I think he actually went one further, because it's clear that the real reason he came here was that he'd have been mad to turn down such a compensation package. I have noted that we are described time and again as his "boyhood club". I think we all know that his adult club, where he shifted his allegiances, was Manchester United, his real dream job. I think that repeating "boyhood club" is a snakey way of trying to suck up to Newcastle fans and also create a false narrative for journos to lap up. Whilst he goes out for dinner with Bryan Robson and his Man U mates as a Man U fan after we lose to them, and pining for his life in his big house in the North West, fleecing every other club with lies to pay for it.

The problem with this story, is firstly that Flintoff then took Bruce out the next night in return, so he was in fact repaid. And secondly, even if he hadn't been repaid, spending a few quid to suck up to a sporting superstar is one thing. But how about, on the other hand, according to a charity allegedly acting as a slum landlord to someone with no money or star status? That would be pretty despicable behaviour for any human being. But I detest him regardless of the truth of either of those stories. He's a sly hateful liar and an idiot.

Since this is now to be all about Steve's big 1000 game day on Sunday, hope they present him with a printed piece of A4 congratulating him on this milestone in the centre circle, right before the game. Before unfurling a 100ft colour montage of all the trophies he's won in that time.

It would be quite nice if there was a semi regular fans forum again, with unredacted minutes.
