  1. At the end of the day, if the commentariat wish it to be illegal for a sovereign wealth fund to invest in UK businesses then they must lobby the people who can effect legislation to that end. If that business is a football club or a newspaper or a cab firm doesn’t really matter. The criteria for exclusion through such legislation needs to be carefully drawn up and enacted through Parliament. This is not solely a matter for football and its authority but for society at large to agree upon. Telling lies about the behaviour of football fans is simply taking cheap shots for clicks
  2. Edinson Cavani clearly has no idea what Rangnick is thinking
  3. Essentially, they’re going to buy every Premier League team through proxies and give us all a turn at winning it thereby creating a football utopia
  4. Littlewoods pools were largely how Liverpool reached their position of preeminence from the 60s through till the end of the 80s, the Moores family using their wealth to support them and Everton
  5. 4th December 2004 I was at Stamford Bridge when Chelsea beat us 4-0 and I realised that the Premier League had changed forever; there was absolutely no way that a club like ours as it then stood could compete with the wealth on show. Where were the gatekeepers of the Premier League then? They were having their nice lunches and fawning over Mourinho and Ambramovich and now they want to put the cork back in the bottle. Too late, they should have done it then. The profile of the Premier League draws dollars, yuan, dirham and riyal because their noses were stuffed into the trough and they didn’t care enough about the rest of us. I don’t think that the Premier League should be as it is but as a fan, stood at Stamford Bridge in 2004 there was absolutely fuck all that I could do about it. Journalists could have made a fuss but chose not to
  6. A great manager. We’re safe even if we get relegated, which we won’t
  7. This result was seismic. The team that finished wasn’t so different from Rafa’s first season back up. Howe is truly remarkable
  8. In the past nine games including this one I think that we’ve had three bad halves, one of which is tonight’s. I remain hopeful of a point at least.

Definitely the most confected argument between the tribes
  10. We looked jaded. Proactive team selection would have been helpful to overall performance
  11. Yeah, Bruno is the sort of player who’ll take us up a level
  12. The ball that he played through for ASM was millimetre perfect
  13. Gruelling but eight unbeaten games is amazing for this group of players. We looked jaded but hung on. Not hopeful for the next four games but I think we can get enough to stay up and let the adventure begin
  14. There’s no doubt that the causes of the two wars do not have equivalence but bombing civilians in both wars does have equivalence and should be condemned, unhesitatingly

He loves his club, the club has been abused by its owners, he is rightly indignant
  16. Stoke City are impressive
  17. No matter who the replacement for Bielsa might be, the players will have to ‘divorce’ themselves from his especially eclectic techniques and make do with more mundane methods. They won’t find this an easy adjustment imo; I think they’ll go down whereas I think Bielsa had the possibility (slim) of turning it around when important players return
  18. There’s usually the odd team that collapses at this time of year and gets sucked into a relegation battle but I’m not sure that it’s happened to three at the same time as with Everton, Leeds and Brentford this season. Exceptional
  19. For knocking the ball into the box that led to our goal? I’m not particularly a fan but he does good things too
  20. I think Eddie Howe spent five seasons fighting relegation, successfully in four of those. Dyche has as much experience(?) but the rest? His CV is good for this

  22. I understand that. We play three matches in May, the first on 7th May; that’s 77 days away
  23. And we have, hopefully, Wilson, Trippier and an up-to-speed Guiamãres to come for the battle
